The biggest fumble of Matt Leinart's career happened off the gridiron -- the former quarterback revealed he took Rihanna on a date back in the day ... but an unwelcome appearance torpedoed the whole thing.

The ex-USC Trojans superstar broke it all down on his "Throwbacks" podcast with "Entourage" star Jerry Ferrara ... when he reminisced on working with show guest Josh Richman to set up some one-on-one time with the singer at Teddy's nightclub in L.A.

Leinart said the odds already weren't in his favor after two previous attempts ... but what REALLY put the final nail in the coffin was a "f***ing ginormous blister" on his lip from being out in the sun too long.

Richard Tillman, the brother of American hero and former NFL player Pat Tillman, had been battling mental health issues prior to his arrest over the weekend, his family said in a statement on Monday.

Richard, 44, was taken into custody in San Jose, Calif. on Sunday morning ... after authorities alleged he caused a massive blaze at a U.S. Post Office by driving his car into it.

He's currently being held at a Santa Clara County Jail on a charge of arson.

Magic Johnson is one of countless heartbroken fans mourning the death of "Cosby Show" alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner at the age of 54 ... with the Lakers legend sharing a touching tribute to the Emmy-nominated actor -- saying "he will truly be missed."

Johnson shared the tribute to X not long after TMZ broke the story that Warner died as a result of an accidental drowning while in Costa Rica with his daughter.

"[Cookie and I] were both super fans of the hit Cosby Show and continued to follow his career on shows like Malcolm and Eddie and The Resident," Johnson said. "Every time I ran into Malcolm, we would have deep and fun conversations about basketball, life, and business."

Travis Hunter's wife, Leanna, is opening up on her growth after her experiences with social media scrutiny ... sharing an old video of herself crying over being targeted with hate.

Leanna -- who married Hunter on May 24 -- posted the clip over the weekend, showing her having a bit of a mental breakdown and wiping away tears from her face.

Corey Adams -- a defensive lineman on the Ole Miss football team -- has been killed in a shooting ... according to reports.

ESPN -- citing the Shelby County Sheriff's Office -- reports Adams was killed in a shooting in Cordova, Tennessee, in the greater Memphis area.

Four other men were also shot ... though they were rushed to the hospital and are not in critical condition, ESPN reports. No one has been arrested in connection to the shooting at the time.

President Donald Trump is once again calling on the Washington Commanders to ditch their current name and return to their former moniker, the Redskins.

The former president took to Truth Social on Sunday, writing, "The Washington 'Whatevers' should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this."

Trump didn't stop there, also suggesting the Cleveland Guardians should return to their old name, the Indians, claiming, "Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen." Trump capped off the post by urging the teams' owners to "get it done."
