The MMA community is rallying behind Cain Velasquez in wake of his prison sentence this week ... and many of its biggest stars -- including Jorge Masvidal -- are urging officials to release the fighting legend from custody.

Velasquez was thrown back behind bars on Monday after a judge gave him a five-year sentence in his attempted murder case ... but shortly after the order was handed down, Masvidal and others took to their social media pages to throw their support behind CV.

Gamebred wrote "#FREECAIN," as did Gilbert Burns and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Chris Wiedman added "This is awful !!" ... while Michael Chiesa implored authorities to reconsider the case.

The entire basketball community is rallying behind JuJu Watkins after she suffered a devastating injury during the NCAA tournament on Monday ... with names like Angel Reese and Lisa Leslie wishing her a speedy recovery.

The unfortunate incident happened in the first five minutes of USC's second-round matchup against Mississippi State at the Galen Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Watkins -- the Big Ten Player of the Year -- was driving to the basket on a fast break when her knee buckled, forcing her to fall to the floor and grab her right leg in excruciating pain.

Xavier Worthy filed new court documents on Monday alleging his domestic violence accuser, Tia Jones, cheated on him as he was preparing for Super Bowl LIX.

The Kansas City wideout made the allegation in an application for a protective order in Williamson County, Texas ... as he continued his attempts to explain that he was actually the abused one in his relationship with his now-estranged fiancée.

Worthy stated in the docs the two met in late 2023 at a steakhouse in Austin ... and began a romantic relationship in the spring of 2024. He said by the fall of that same year, though, "I noticed that her attitude started to change."

Michael Moorer -- one of the few men who stood toe-to-toe in a boxing ring with George Foreman -- tells TMZ Sports he's heartbroken over the boxing legend's death ... making it clear the pugilist will be sorely missed.

We sat down with Moorer on Monday -- just three days after Foreman's family revealed the ex-heavyweight champ passed away at 76 years old -- and it wasn't hard to tell he was crushed to learn of the news.

Moorer called Foreman "a gentle giant" ... and added that he'll always remember him as "a great person."

3/24 5:49 PM PT -- Brett Gardner's 14-year-old son Miller died from asphyxiation at a resort in Costa Rica ... according to a new report.

Miller was staying at the property as part of a family vacation when he and others in the group fell seriously ill ... per Inside Edition.

Officials in Costa Rica are now reportedly working with the Gardners to return Miller's body to the United States.

Brett Gardner -- former star of the New York Yankees -- has just announced the death of his 14-year-old son ... adding it came suddenly after he became ill along with a group of family members on a trip.

The 14-year MLB veteran and his wife, Jessica, announced the news in a heartfelt statement, released through the Yankees social media channels ... explaining their son Miller passed away Friday.

According to the Gardners, Miller and a group of other family members got sick while on vacation ... adding they have far more questions than answers at this point.

A Harvard University football player was arrested with viral sorority girl Lily Stewart over the weekend ... after cops say they were wandering around a campus building after business hours.

Junior Crimson tight end Seamus Gilmartin and two others were busted alongside Stewart on University of Georgia property around 3 AM Sunday morning ... after cops responded to an intrusion alarm at the student center, which closes at midnight.

According to a police report, the group seemingly tried to flee the scene after they noticed the cop approach the building ... but once the officer tracked them down, he ordered Gilmartin to comply -- which he did.

Bam Margera is featured in an upcoming "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" video game after initially being snubbed, and it's all thanks to Tony having his back ... TMZ has confirmed.

Here's the deal ... Bam was not among the skateboarders announced for "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4" despite being in the OG version, but after a recent push from Tony, Activision is including Bam in the game.

Our sources tell us Tony skated with Bam at the beginning of March and saw how well Margera was doing in his sobriety and wanted to get the "Jackass" star back in the game.

Cain Velasquez has just been sentenced to five years in prison for his alleged role in a 2022 attempted murder.

A judge issued the order on Monday afternoon in a Santa Clara, Calif. courtroom ... roughly three years after the UFC legend was accused of trying to kill Harry Goularte, a man who allegedly molested one of Velasquez's close relatives.

Velasquez appeared in person for the hearing ... and wore a collared shirt and a dark-colored blazer. He spoke at the proceedings and expressed remorse -- as did members of his family. Some of Goularte's relatives addressed the court too, and asked the judge for a heftier sentence. Ultimately, Velasquez got five years -- though he was given credit for approximately three years of time served.
