Mark Gastineau is suing ESPN ... claiming the network did irreparable harm to his reputation when it posted an edited video of his 2023 altercation with Brett Favre.

The now-viral incident took place in November '23 at a sports show in Chicago ... when Gastineau confronted the ex-Packers star about a 2002 sack he gave up to Michael Strahan that allowed Strahan to break the New York Jets legend's single-season record.

Gastineau appeared furious with the ex-Packers signal-caller in the footage ESPN obtained ... and he could be heard in the clip telling Favre over and over again his actions during the '02 game "hurt me."

There will be no renditions of Renegade, Savage or Corvette Corvette in the West Virginia football team's locker room this year ... Rich Rodriguez just revealed he's banned his players from TikTok dancing.

The Mountaineers head coach told reporters this week he believes when his players record themselves shaking their tailfeathers on the popular social media app ... it gives the portrayal of softness -- a huge no-no in his book.

"It's like, look," he said, "we try to have a hard edge or whatever, and you're in there in your tights dancing on TikTok ain't quite the image of our program that I want."

Infamous wife-killer Scott Peterson got an ass-whoopin' from another inmate in a California state prison -- in an altercation over pickleball ... TMZ has learned.

Multiple sources tell TMZ ... Peterson got into the heated confrontation Sunday in the yard near his housing unit at Mule Creek State Prison, about 40 miles southeast of Sacramento.

Our sources say Peterson hit the ball directly at the other inmate, triggering the assault. We're told Peterson got "beat up" by the other prisoner, but his injuries were not serious enough to land him in the hospital.
