Michael Irvin says fans worried about Steve Smith beating his ass can chill -- 'cause Steve ain't actually pissed about Mike ROASTING his plaid pants on "Thursday Night Football."

"Steve's fine, man. Steve's my guy. He was just having fun," Mike told TMZ Sports.

FYI, a straight-faced Smith said he was gonna bust up Irvin the next time they cross paths ... but Mike claims they were just putting on a show for the cameras.

It's been a pretty compelling story on social media -- especially after Irvin made a personal video for Steve asking for forgiveness.

Bonus: Irvin dropped some big news on his son, Michael Irvin Jr., who was suspended from the University of Miami's football team last month.

Dennis Rodman is making a plea to POTUS on the eve of his trip to South Korea -- asking him to make peace with his North Korean bro, Kim Jong-un, as tensions rise over nuclear warfare.

"Donald Trump, please, help us," Rodman said to TMZ Sports in Newport Beach. "You always say, 'unite.' I'm all about that."

Dennis told us he trusts Trump ... but feels like he's gotta be involved for his former "Celebrity Apprentice" boss to break bread with the supreme leader.

Highly doubt the Donald's down ... but at least we know the Worm's still trying to play peacemaker.

The NHL team was celebrating Sunday night after beating the L.A. Kings the night before -- they were all in a good mood ... signing autographs and taking pics with fans.

But 2 guys were draggin' ass when it came time to leave ... so the bus took off without 'em. That's when the race was on!

Deion Sanders destroyed Tony Romo. There's really no cute or punchy way to put it. The guy opened up his Hall of Fame mouth and ate the soul of Romo live on television.

It happened because Tony dissed Deion's tackling ability again, calling out Chiefs player Marcus Peters for not sticking his nose in a hit and saying MP "makes Deion Sanders look good in tackling."

Prime obviously had enough, 'cause he used his platform on "NFL GameDay," and pushed Romo off it ... here are some highlights.

A heated altercation between Jozy Altidore and his ex-USMNT teammate Sacha Kljestan escalated into a full-blown war during halftime of an MLS game this weekend -- with yelling and cussing and police ... and it was all caught on video.

It all went down at halftime during Sunday's match between Jozy's Toronto FC and Sacha's NY Red Bulls, where things were already chippy in the 1st half.

Jozy claims Sacha tried to "pull up on me while my back was turned" -- and TFC coach Greg Vanney says he was "ambushed" by 5 or 6 New York Red Bulls players in total.

Sacha's got a different take -- claiming Jozy's the one who started the fight by shoving him into a wall.

Either way, the video is crazy -- you can see players like Michael Bradley trying to keep the peace as cops and stadium security rush in to maintain order.

Both Jozy and Sacha were ejected from the game. The Red Bulls ultimately won the game 1-0.

Yasiel Puig doesn't give a single damn about his L.A. home being burglarized last week -- telling TMZ Sports, "I have too much f**king money in my life."

Puig was leaving the Lakers game at Staples Center on Sunday when he opened up about the home invader that broke into his place during Game 7 of the World Series.

"I ain't worried about that sh*t," Puig said ... assuring his fans, "I have a f**king lot of money."

FYI, Puig has reportedly collected $34.5 million from the 7-year, $42 million deal he signed back in 2012.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... the burglar only made off with around $150 in costume jewelry. However, back in March, scumbags stole around $500k in bling and other items.

We also asked Puig how he felt about Yu Darvish after that poor pitching performance in Game 7 -- and Puig made it clear he ain't mad one bit.

Gabby Douglas wants to give McKayla Maroney some more time and space before she calls her ex-Team USA teammate about her sexual assault allegations ... but applauds McKayla for speaking out.

It's been nearly a month since Maroney went public with allegations she was drugged and molested by former Team USA doctor Larry Nassar.

Douglas -- who was part of the 2012 Fierce Five gold medal-winning squad with McKayla -- says McKayla's story shows sexual assault isn't just an issue in Hollywood ... "it's happening world wide."

"It's really unfortunate and it's very sad ... thankfully we get to use our platforms to speak to it and definitely make a change."

The Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday night in L.A., but David Foster and his new gf, Katharine McPhee, might not have noticed.

The two had great seats, but it didn't matter because it looked like Katharine was more into David's convo than Lonzo Ball's ball skills.

They've been spotted together all over town the last couple of weeks, and were even snapped smooching. So far no official statement on the status of their relationship, but the body language pretty much says it all.

Gilbert Arenas thinks Lonzo Ball is off to a pretty decent start, but tells TMZ Sports they can't really shine in L.A. just yet BECAUSE THE REST OF HIS TEAM IS SUPER TRASH.

Here's Gil's point ... Lonzo is a passer, and in order for him to tear it up for the Purple & Gold, his teammates have to make the shots he sets them up for, something Arenas says these guys can't do.

"You try to put so much hype around a point guard but your team is bad. He can't make these players good, if they're Hondas they're Hondas. This is not fast in furious where you can put some Nitrous on Ingram and make him a better Honda."

Ouch. Arenas went on to explain that no point guards make all the greats like Shaq and Jordan who they were, and if the Lakers think Lonzo's gonna do that, they're fooling themselves.

Finally, some good news for ex-Seattle Seahawks star Brandon Browner -- officials decided not to move forward with charges in his domestic violence case ... despite allegations he threatened his ex with a gun.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... 33-year-old Browner was arrested back in Sept. after allegedly making criminal threats to a female.

Now, we've obtained official documents laying out the case against Browner -- which show Brandon's ex-GF told police things got scary during a FaceTime conversation.

"He showed her a gun and said he would kill her," the docs say.

But Browner told police she was lying and he never had a gun. Prosecutors couldn't prove the gun threat actually happened ... so they dropped the case.

Finally, a politician is going to bat for pro athletes who wanna use weed -- saying the NFL and NBA are treating players like 2nd class citizens for taking away their rights to get high (medically).

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) says it's about damn time league commissioners acknowledge that marijuana is BETTER for treating the "really terrible pain" pro athletes endure.

"It's much less damaging than the opiods, the painkillers, the shots, the pills ... and it's time professional sports stops punishing them but works with them."

Congressman Blumenauer says 2/3 Americans have legal access to medical marijuana -- so to ban NBA and NFL players is basically treating them like "second class citizens."

BTW -- shout-out to the great people of the 3rd District in Oregon, your rep is the COOLEST DUDE EVER.

We also spoke with ex-NBA player Al Harrington -- who's actively lobbying the NBA to lift the weed ban -- and asked if there's been any progress since he spoke about the issue with ex-commish David Stern.

6:01 PM PT -- Lamar's rep says he collapsed due to dehydration after an intense workout earlier in the day without the necessary fluids in his system. They also said it was very hot in the club, while adding ... he's "doing great."

Lamar Odom collapsed at his VIP booth at an L.A. nightclub early Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has the video.

Odom was at Bootsy Bellows on the Sunset Strip when several staffers and patrons noticed the ex-NBA star collapsed to the ground around 2 AM. You can see security rush in to help and he seems to be conscious.

The person who shot the video tells TMZ Sports he saw Odom drinking for several hours before the incident.

The issue ... Odom has a serious history with substance abuse -- he almost died from a drug overdose at a brothel in 2015.

Odom has since gone to rehab and vowed to change his life -- but he's been partying a lot lately ... from strip clubs to nightclubs.

Vin Scully says he'll NEVER watch a single down of NFL football again ... and it's all thanks to the players protesting during the national anthem.

The legendary Dodgers announcer was speaking at an event in Pasadena on Saturday when he was asked about the controversy surrounding commissioner Roger Goodell, team owners and players ... and Scully didn't hold back.

“I have only one personal thought, really. ... and I am so disappointed. I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday."

Scully -- who spent one year in the Navy -- adds ... "but I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”

5:17 PM PT -- A rep for the NYC Marathon tell us Kevin Hart finished the race with a time of 4 hours and 5 minutes; Karlie finished at 4 hours and 41 minutes; Tiki finished at 4 hours and 38 minutes.

With great distance comes a great responsibility to run a decent time -- which Kevin Hart, Karlie Kloss and other celebs took up in the streets of New York this weekend.

A handful of stars threw on their running shoes Sunday and took part in the annual New York City Marathon -- all 26.2 miles of it -- including Kevin, Karlie, "Catfish" host Nev Schulman and ex-Giants running back Tiki Barber ... among others.

Kevin was all smiles for the camera ... which might've even made him miss the start of the race. As you can see, he wasn't quite ready for the starting shot. Karlie, on the other hand, was kickin' ass -- hitting mile 13 in stride.

The winner of the NYC Marathon turned out to be Shalane Flanagan ... the first American woman in 40 years to win the race. She came in at just under 2 hours and 27 minutes.

Dave Bautista is a liberal kind of guy ... who likes his guns.

We got the wrestler-turned-big actor at LAX Saturday where he told our photog he's a big second amendment guy, with limits. He thinks it's insane bump stocks are not illegal.

George Lopez thinks L.A. Dodgers pitcher Yu Darvish has nothing to apologize for ... and then jokes he might want to leave the country!

TMZ Sports got George at LAX Saturday and Lopez seems to think the regrets Darvish expressed to our photog a few days back was misplaced. He did his job ... sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
