When it comes to assault charges in the Rex and Rob Ryan Margaritaville incident -- the situation can best be summed up this way ...

Some people say that there's a Ryyyyyan to blame ... but cops say (doo doo doo doo do) ... it's not their fault. (doo doo doo doo do).

As we previously reported, the NFL coaches were involved in a dust-up at a Margaritaville restaurant in Nashville back in June -- where they allegedly assaulted a fellow patron who wouldn't leave their table.

The man filed a police report for simple assault and officials opened up an investigation into the Ryans.

But now, Nashville police spokesperson Noelle Yazdani tells TMZ Sports ... the district attorney has declined to move forward with charges ... so the case is closed and the Ryans won't be prosecuted.

Bet they'll drink to that!

Dick Ebersol, the legendary co-creator of "SNL" who ran both NBC and NBC Sports, says his story of hooking up with an actress is WAY DIFFERENT from Harvey Weinstein's, starting with the fact it was consensual.

We got Dick, a long-standing show biz titan, at LAX Friday with wife/actress Susan St. James. Dick met Susan when she guest hosted SNL in 1981 and sparks flew. They've now been married for 36 years.

They've got a thing or 2 to say about the industry and whether the Weinstein scandal will unearth other mogul misdeeds.

Colin Kaepernick will make it back to the NFL, and it's gonna happen THIS SEASON -- so says NFL Insider Jay Glazer.

Jay tells TMZ Sports signing Kaep comes down to a simple formula -- "skill versus circus" -- and that right now, the QB's abilities outweigh the media attention he'd get for his kneeling protests.

"Because of his level of play, yeah -- somebody's gonna have to (sign him)."

But Glazer says Colin can't just sit around ... and urges the QB to help his own cause.

The scumbag who socked out a 62-year-old man at a Carolina Panthers game has been arrested for assault, cops have confirmed.

The suspect is Kyle Adam Maraghy -- and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD says he's currently on his way to jail.

The CMPD says the 26-year-old is the man who was captured on video brutally attacking another man in the stands at Bank of America Stadium during Thursday Night Football.

We did some checking ... this ain't the first time Maraghy's been accused of violence.

He's been arrested for assault at least 2 times since 2013 -- and has claimed to be a victim in 2 other violent incidents. We're trying to find out if Maraghy was ever convicted.

Colin Kaepernick is having a great week with white rappers, 'cause days after Eminem pledged allegiance to the embattled QB, hip-hop star G-Eazy has followed suit.

The "Me, Myself & I" rapper posed for a photo with the QB while proudly displaying an "I'm With Kap" shirt -- and sent a message to Colin saying, "Thank you for bringing awareness and attention to injustices that are happening all over our country and the world."

He added, "Thank you for sparking a movement that's creating a desperately needed dialogue about these issues."

Eazy ended with a POTUS diss -- "F*ck Donald Trump straight up."

Things got even crazier than we thought between GSP and Michael Bisping -- with both men threatening to knock the other out during a crazy heated showdown backstage at a UFC 217 media event.

The guys had just wrapped up a formal news conference in Toronto -- when Bisping confronted GSP backstage and shouted at him for pushing him during the event.

GSP fired back, "F*ck off man ... I will break you."

At one point, Bisping faked like he was going to throw a punch -- GSP didn't even flinch.

They continued to cuss and threaten each other for a good 90 seconds before Bisping walked away.

Venus Williams has a new defense in her fatal car accident, and she's laying blame squarely on a third driver who drove away from the scene unscathed ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Venus filed new docs in the case which reference an unidentified driver in a dark-colored sedan. She says that driver, who was heading in the opposite direction, violated her right of way by cutting in front of her in the intersection ... to make a left turn.

What she's describing is clear in the surveillance video TMZ Sports first posted.

Venus says that other driver's "improper left hand turn" made her slow down, and stop to avoid hitting the sedan.

The video shows what happened next. Venus continued through the intersection, but police say by that time, the light had turned red ... hanging Venus out to dry in the intersection. Seconds later Linda Barson t-boned Venus' SUV. Barson's husband later died from his injuries in the accident.

In the docs, Venus says if she's at fault at all for the wreck ... the unidentified sedan driver should at least share the blame.

The victim in the Carolina Panthers stadium attack filed a police report -- claiming he only suffered "minor injuries" after getting socked in the face during "Thursday Night Football."

TMZ Sports has obtained the report which describes the victim as a 62-year-old man -- who claims he was assaulted at 11 PM.

The victim was treated by a medic at the scene.

The attacker's name is not listed on the report as the victim told police he didn't know the man before the incident. The Panthers say they have positively ID'd him and are working with police.

Steph Curry loves the thrill of victory ... but he's also a fan of da feet.

Turns out, the Golden State Warriors superstar has a thing for footsies, according to his wife Ayesha Curry.

"My husband really loves my feet," Ayesha admitted Friday on The Real (check local listings).

Georges St-Pierre UNLOADED on Michael Bisping in a backstage confrontation today ... warning the champ to never put his hands on him again after their UFC 217 media event in Toronto.

Well, at the end of their news conference, Bisping dangled his finger on Georges' chin when they faced off ... and GSP didn't like that at all, shoving Mike off him.

Bisping told St-Pierre to "keep your hands to yourself" when they saw each other in the back ... and that clearly set him off.

Got a feeling this won't be the last time these 2 go at it.

Jerry Jones thinks Ezekiel Elliott is getting a raw deal -- saying the 6-game suspension is simply unfair.

The Dallas Cowboys owner called in to "G-Bag Nation" on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas early Friday morning and said, "I'm very familiar with all of the facts and the details of this case. Very familiar ... Zeke did not get treated fairly here."

As we previously reported, a federal appeals court issued a ruling essentially clearing the way for the NFL to enforce the 6-game suspension it handed to Elliott as a result of a domestic violence investigation.

Elliott was never charged with a crime -- but the NFL's private investigators believe Elliott did, in fact, attack his girlfriend back in 2016. Zeke denies all wrongdoing and Jones clearly believes him.

"Zeke and his team and the Cowboys do not think [the NFL's suspension and punishment process] was done in a fair way. We are trying to get that looked at, and we got a setback yesterday."

People had been calling for Arena's job after the USMNT lost to Trinidad & Tobago -- eliminating them from World Cup contention ... but moments ago, Arena quit before he could be fired.

"It is the greatest privilege for any coach to manage their country’s National Team, and as I leave that role today I am honored and grateful to have had that opportunity twice in my career."

"In the end, we came up short," Arena said ... "No excuses. We didn’t get the job done, and I accept responsibility."

TMZ Sports had spoken with Arena earlier this week -- and he didn't seem too concerned about his job ... even giving a sarcastic response to his critics.

Still, Arena kept it classy in his goodbye statement ... and says he still believes in the U.S. soccer program.
