Nuns in Spain are taking a break from the mundane, yet very essential, task of making sanitary masks ... with a full-court game of basketball!!!
At the convent of San Leandro in Sevilla, nuns have exchanged making their famous sweets for sewing much-needed masks, and when they need some time to get away and stretch their legs, they pick up a rock and shoot some hoops!
Ya gotta see the video ... these nuns know how to run and gun, or should we say, nun and gun. Seriously, the ball hardly touches the floor, you'd think they were coached by Paul Westhead.
It's kinda hard to tell which team is which, they're mostly wearing the same thing, but keep your eyes on the nun wearing white, she's dominating the paint like Pau Gasol.
We've got bank shots, long outlet passes, steals, and some crazy handles. Who needs the NBA?!? There's nun better than this!!!
Here's Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly giving a whole new meaning to "breaking ball" ...
The L.A. pitcher was working on his off-speed stuff in an at-home, quarantine throwing sesh this week ... when he let one get away from him -- and threw the cowhide straight through a window!!!
Yeah, JUUUUUUUUUUUUSTTTT a bit outside!!!
You can see in the footage of the aftermath (filmed by his wife) ... the damage Kelly's changeup did was pretty significant.
There was glass everywhere and a big ol' hole through the window ... and JK sure seemed to be in disbelief over it all.
Don't worry, Joe's got enough funds to pay for a new piece of glass ... dude signed a 3-year, $25 MILLION deal with the Dodgers just before last season.
Also, it coulda been much worse ... at least it wasn't fastball practice -- the guy throws his heater 100 MPH!!!
Regardless, somebody get these guys on a real diamond soon again. Please.
G.O.A.T. blood clearly runs thick in the Brady fam ...
Tom Brady's niece -- a BEAST on the UCLA softball diamond -- just won a huge national award ... and yeah, the Bradys are now officially good at everything!!
If you weren't aware ... Maya Brady -- the daughter of Tom's older sister -- was a coveted softball recruit last year who chose the Bruins over a bunch of other offers.
And, before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic ... she CRUSHED it in her first collegiate season -- leading the team with 7 home runs and batting an absurd .356!!
Softball America named her its 2020 Freshman Player of the Year this week ... now cementing her as one of the best players on the globe.
Of course, we should've seen this coming ... remember when Tom posted footage of their family dodgeball game back in 2018??
Colin Kaepernick is stepping up to help those in desperate need during the coronavirus ... launching a relief fund for minorities, and pledging $100k of his own money.
"Black and brown communities are being disproportionately devastated by COVID-19 because of hundreds of years of structural racism," Kap said in a video Thursday.
"That's why we've established the Know Your Rights Camp COVID-19 Fund to help address these issues."
The KYRC says the money raised will go toward buying food from local restaurants to distribute throughout communities, help pay essential living costs for those who can't afford it and providing information on Black and Brown communities to keep everyone in the loop on the pandemic.
On top of that, the fund will help communities receive proper face protection to prevent spreading the virus ... and work with organizations to get prisoners out of jail and in a safer environment.
Kaepernick's video is filled with examples of how the global pandemic is affecting people of color ... and it's clear he's determined to make an impact.
10:50 AM PT -- 4/16 Roy's wife, Brandy, has addressed the new findings of the NTSB report ... saying the news has caused her to relive the horrific tragedy.
UPDATE
"Yesterday's NTSB report on Roy's accident was painful for our family, as it has caused us to relive the worst day of our lives," Halladay said in a statement via the Philadelphia Phillies.
UPDATE
"It has reinforced what I have previously stated, that no one is perfect. Most families struggle in some capacity and ours was no exception."
UPDATE
"We respectfully ask that you not make assumptions or pass judgment. Rather, we encourage you to hug your loved ones and appreciate having them in your lives."
UPDATE
Brandy ended the statement by saying, "As a family, we ask that you allow Roy to rest in peace."
Roy Halladay's dad told investigators he was worried the abuse of prescription meds played a role in his son's fatal plane crash back in Nov. 2017 ... this according to new docs obtained by TMZ Sports.
NTSB officials say in 2 separate interviews with Halladay's father shortly after the fatal flight -- he told them he was worried the ex-Philadelphia Phillies ace might have been abusing Rx drugs.
Investigators claim Halladay's father told them Roy had "enrolled in an in-house detox program for an addiction to Lorazepam" a couple years prior to the accident ... and he told officials he was "concerned that Roy was abusing prescription medications, and that may have played a role in the accident."
As we previously reported, an autopsy revealed Halladay had zolpidem (the generic name for Ambien), as well as morphine in his system at the time he crashed his plane in the Gulf of Mexico.
The tests also came back positive for amphetamines.
Investigators say Halladay's dad told them Roy was suffering from anxiety and depression around the time of the accident.
According to the report, Halladay's dad also told officials he believed back pain, shoulder surgery and anxiety were the only medical ailments the former pitcher suffered from.
There's more ... officials also claim Halladay's father told them Roy often took risks while flying ... saying, "Mr. Halladay had a feeling that his son did not appreciate the dangers involved with flying."
Roy -- who was 40 at the time of the crash -- had tweeted about a conversation with his father just days before the accident, writing, "I keep telling my dad flying the Icon A5 low over the water is like flying a fight jet!"
"His response...... I am flying a fighter jet!!"
Officials also included new photos of the wreckage after it was pulled from the water -- which shows the aircraft was essentially reduced to scrap.
Shaquille O'Neal says he's still so emotional about the death of Kobe Bryant, he will NOT watch the 2020 Hall of Fame ceremony because it will simply make him too sad.
Kobe is set to be formally inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in August -- the ultimate honor for one of the greatest players of all time.
But, Shaq admits he can't muster up the strength to watch -- mostly because he can't handle another bout of soul-crushing sadness after Kobe passed away in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26.
Shaq says on the "scale of sadness" with 10 being the worst, he's finally at a "2" right now ... and watching the HOF ceremony "would bring me back to a 7, 8, 9 and I can't right now."
O'Neal continued, "It would be great if his wife gave a speech or his mom or dad give a speech but I'll see that afterwards. I'm not gonna watch the ceremony."
He also floated the idea of having a Kobe hologram at the ceremony -- saying it would be "nice" to have a Kobe-gram "sitting next to everyone else."
Kobe's Hall of Fame class is pretty stacked -- he'll be inducted along with Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.
Wanna own Eli Manning's insane Super Bowl MVP Corvette???
All it'll take is some a lot of cash for COVID-19 charity ... and, get this, the New York Giants legend will even hand-deliver it for ya if you offer the most!!!
The 39-year-old newly retired QB just accepted Michael Rubin's all-in challenge ... and the package he's offering for a big coronavirus donation is one of the best we've seen so far.
Manning says the 2012 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible Centennial Edition he won for beating the New England Patriots in SB XLVI is officially on the auction block.
Of course, Cooper's just playing around ... but little bro Peyton sure as hell ain't with his donation package -- the future Hall of Famer is offering up a round of golf AND dinner!!
Seriously, big ups to the Mannings for the work ... great family!
Howard Finkel -- one of the most famous announcers in the history of pro wrestling -- has died, WWE confirms. He was 69.
Details surrounding his death are unclear at the moment.
The Fink (as he was lovingly called) had been ring announcing since 1977 -- when he was hired by Vince McMahon, Sr. for the WWE's predecessor, WWWF.
He became a full-time staffer in 1979 and went on to become WWE's longest-serving employee.
Besides that famous voice, Fink was involved in a bunch of WWE storylines over the years involving superstars like Mr. Perfect, The Million Dollar Man, CM Punk and more.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
"WWE extends its condolences to Finkel's family, friends and fans," the org. said in a statement.
Stephanie McMahon also weighed in -- saying, "In what has already been a tough week for our @WWE family, today we lost our 1st ever employee and WWE Hall of Famer, @howardfinkel."
"Howard’s voice is iconic & recognized by generations of fans. He will be missed. #RIPHowardFinkel Thank you for everything."
That's the reality for WWE superstar Roman Reigns who just revealed his wife Galina is pregnant with twins -- for the second time!
Roman and Galina already have 3 kids -- including a set of twin boys who were born in 2016.
But during an interview with Muscle & Fitness, Roman dropped the big news ... their fam is growing again in a big way!
"You have 3 kids?" the interviewer asked.
"3 with 2 in the oven," Roman answered ... "So, I'm looking to be a Papa Bear of 5! Breaking news! We haven't shared that."
First, CONGRATS!!!
Second, HOLY MOLY THAT'S A LOT OF KIDS!!!
By the way, the odds of having twins naturally is reportedly 1 in every 250 births -- so, in a way, they kinda hit the jackpot twice!
On the other hand, that's a LOT of poopy diapers.
No word on when the kids are due.
Worth noting ... Reigns notably pulled out of WrestleMania 36 just weeks before the April 4 event -- and even though it seemed the decision was based on his health due to prior bouts with leukemia, it now seems the pregnancy may have also played a role.
"You don't know the whole story," Reigns said in a video posted on March 30 ... "All you know is what you think, 'Oh well his health' and this and that, but you don't know what else is going on in my life."
We thought everyone knew that ... but Xiaoke (from USC) blew it on an episode that coincidentally aired on "Jackie Robinson Day."
Whoops.
Some facts. Babe Ruth did not break the color barrier. He was white. Like super white. German ancestry white.
Jackie Robinson (who went to Xiaoke's rival school UCLA) famously broke the color barrier while a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
Robinson made such an impact in the sports world and on society as a whole, there have been countless movies, documentaries and books written about him.
Also, his jersey #42 has been retired across MLB to honor the legend.
Oh, and don't feel too bad for Xiaoke -- she ended up winning the show and moves on to the "Jeopardy" College Tournament Finals.
Sports fans, brace yourselves ... live action could be back on your TV in as few as 8 weeks -- the PGA Tour just announced it's gunning to end its coronavirus suspension on June 8!
The golf circuit shut down play last month amid the COVID-19 pandemic ... but officials just announced a June comeback to the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas is officially on the calendar.
Of course, reps for the org. say the tourney -- along with at least the 3 after it -- will be fanless events ... but admit that could change as more coronavirus info becomes available.
"[The TOUR] will continue to monitor the situation and follow the recommendations of local and state authorities in order to determine the most appropriate on-site access in each market," the org. said in a statement Thursday.
"As such, the TOUR will continually review available COVID-19-related protocols that could be implemented at PGA TOUR events to ensure the health and well-being for all involved."
Several famous tournaments -- most notably the Masters -- have been postponed due to the pandemic ... with the 149th Open Championship being canceled altogether.
But, the PGA Tour says in its statement almost all of the postponed events have new makeup dates ... with the Masters set for Nov. 9-15 now.
"The health and safety of all associated with the PGA TOUR and our global community continues to be our No. 1 priority, and our hope is to play a role -- responsibly -- in the world's return to enjoying the things we love," PGA TOUR commish Jay Monahan said.
"Today's announcement is another positive step for our fans and players as we look toward the future, but as we've stressed on several occasions, we will resume competition only when -- working closely with our tournaments, partners and communities -- it is considered safe to do so under the guidance of the leading public health authorities."
L.A. Rams center Brian Allen says things got so bad after he tested positive for COVID-19 ... he lost all sense of smell, and had NO REACTION whatsoever to even powerful smelling salts.
"I cracked them open, put them to my nose and nothing happened," Allen said. "All I could feel was texture in my mouth -- literally, it was the only sense I had."
Allen -- who became the first NFL player to go public with his positive coronavirus test -- told Fox Sports' Jay Glazeron Wednesday, things got even worse in his battle with COVID from there.
"Then I got periodic sore throats," 24-year-old Allen said. "I got really fatigued, my throat would start burning, everything felt different than every other flu I've had."
Allen says he was initially diagnosed with the virus roughly a month ago ... and after battling headaches and severe malaise, he's reportedly on the mend now.
In fact, L.A. head coach Sean McVay told Glazer he spoke with the former 4th-round pick this week and says he's "feeling good, he's healthy and he's on the road to recovery."
Because of Allen's positive test ... the Rams were forced to shut down their team facility for two weeks -- but McVay praised his player for handling everything about the virus properly.
"He did a great job of letting us know right away," McVay said, "so we could be timely in our response in making sure we didn't expose anybody else to that."
Hockey fan?! Ridiculously rich?! Listen up if you wanna own a piece of sports history, 'cause a 170-year-old hockey stick -- estimated to be worth MILLIONS -- just hit the auction block.
The stick -- one of the first-ever made -- is believed to be from the time period between 1850 and 1870 ... as the game of hockey was being invented.
Here's the deal ... in 1980, a couple -- Gary and Germaine Morse -- discovered the one-of-a-kind stick sitting in the closet of a Vermont home they recently purchased.
The Morse's had no idea what the stick was worth ... so they had it assessed.
The value, according to the expert fine art appraiser?
3.5 MILLION DOLLARS!!
Shockingly, they held on to the stick for 40 years -- until recently deciding to cash out -- going to Goldin Auctions and asking them to unload the piece.
We know, sounds like a helluva lot of money for a very old piece of wood ... but 100+-year-old sticks have a track record of selling for a fortune.
The "Rutherford Stick" -- also believed to be from the 1850s -- reportedly sold for $2.2 million in the mid-2000s.
Question is, what will a similarly old and rare stick go for at auction?
Wanna help fight the coronavirus and take a step toward becoming the most swagged-out person on the planet at the same time?!?!
Ray Lewis can help with that ... 'cause the Unvi. of Miami legend is offering up an original turnover chain PLUS a VIP experience in exchange for COVID-19 charity!!
The NFL Hall of Famer just announced he's accepting Michael Rubin's All In challenge by offering up a huge package of Hurricanes-related gifts ... and it's pretty sweet.
Ray says the winner of his charity auction will be flown to Miami for its Nov. 7 game against Florida State ... and will be put up in the famous Fontainebleau hotel for the weekend.
Ray says the winner -- who can be joined by as many as 3 other friends -- will also get steak dinners and a once in a lifetime meet and greet before the big game.
"You're going to be able to run out of the tunnel!" Ray says. "Come out of the smoke! One of the most iconic memories of all-time!"
As for that chain ... it's unclear how drippy the replica ice will be -- but we're guessing Ray ain't sparing no expenses here!!
Starting price for the auction has yet to be announced ... but happy bidding!!
Scottie Pippen says he got FIRED from his role with the Chicago Bulls ... but don't feel bad for the guy, 'cause he's pretty glad to be away from that mess!!
The 6-time champ revealed the move on the Thuzio Live & Unfiltered podcast (which was recorded during All-Star Weekend but released Wednesday) ... explaining he couldn't come to an agreement with the Bulls front office prior to the 2019 season, so they canned him.
"I got fired this year. I didn't really want it to be in the public, but I'm no longer employed by the Bulls," Pippen said in the interview.
Here's what went down ... the Bulls reportedly met with Pippen before the season and asked him to make several commitments that would mess up his gig with ESPN's "The Jump" ... but wouldn't budge on compensation, so they let him go.
So ... how is Pippen taking it?? Let's say pretty well.
"It's probably a good thing, right? ... I like to associate myself with winning."
Ouch.
Of course, the Bulls are not great right now -- they're 22-43 and don't really have any star players outside of Zach LaVine.
Chicago DID, however, just hire ex-Nuggets GM Arturas Karnisovas to replace John Paxson ... so at least they're heading in the right direction.
As for Pippen ... you can't blame him for taking the TV money.
Ex-NFL QB Tarvaris Jackson will be laid to rest on Saturday in Alabama -- but due to COVID-19, only 10 people will be allowed inside the church at a time.
We're told Jackson's funeral will take place at the True Divine Baptist Church in Montgomery at 1 PM on Saturday, where close friends and family members will pay their final respects to the football star.
As we previously reported, Jackson was killed in a car crash late Sunday night. He was only 36 years old.
We're told, there is a policy in Alabama which limits gatherings to 10 people or less -- funerals included.
So, the family is planning on rotating groups of people in 10-person shifts so they may pay their final respects.
For those who can't attend in person, we're told True Divine Baptist Church will live stream the ceremony on its website and family members will be streaming on social media as well.
Jackson was a 2nd-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft -- and played for the Minnesota Vikings, Bills and Seahawks during his career.
He famously served as Russell Wilson's backup in Seattle where they won a Super Bowl in 2014.
In fact, Wilson tweeted about Jackson's passing -- saying, "TJack... you will be missed. Praying for your family ... Love you man."
