Philadelphia Sixers baller Mike Scott says his brawl with Eagles fans kickstarted over a slur ... and while he regrets getting physical, he has no sympathy for the guy.

Scott spoke about the incident at Sixers Media Day on Monday ... admitting he shouldn't have fought, but makes it clear the fans at Lincoln Financial Field started it.

“I definitely should've walked away before it got to that point," Scott told the media. "I’m a professional, you know, I gotta be the bigger person, but once you keep going ... he was poppin’ hella sh*t, he was going off.”

Initially, there were rumors that Scott went off because he thought a coffin at the game was to mock late Redskins star Sean Taylor (the fans claim it wasn't). Scott didn't get into specifics on the slur that sparked the fight ... but it clearly pissed him off.

“He was talking crazy. He took it to the next level so I had to see if he matched that energy ... and y'all saw what happened.”

When asked if he felt bad for the way he acted, Scott stands by his fists.

“Sympathy for him? I don’t feel any for those individuals ... yeah, what a day,” he laughed.

Amazing gesture from Astros superstar Carlos Correa ... the shortstop visited the family of murdered Houston police officer Sandeep Dhaliwal on Monday -- and donated $10,000.

Dhaliwal was killed last Friday in broad daylight after a man shot him in the back of the head during a routine traffic stop ... and Correa was hit hard by the news.

42-year-old Dhaliwal had famously helped citizens in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated the community in 2017 ... so Carlos -- a Puerto Rican native -- wanted to reach out.

The 'Stros stud was able to meet with the Dhaliwal's family Monday afternoon ... and, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, it was the first time he had seen the family smile since the tragedy.

"Can't thank him enough," Gonzalez said of Correa to Fox 26's Mark Berman ... "Amazing what he does for the Houston community."

Correa also donated $10k to Dhaliwal's family ... and said of the situation, "A lot of people in Puerto Rico suffered the tragedy of Hurricane Maria. And, for him to go out of his way and help people that he didn't even know, it really touched me."

Correa added, "We're very grateful for everything he did -- me, my family, the whole country of Puerto Rico. It's an unfortunate situation, but I wanted to come show my respects and my appreciation for the family and be able to help them in some way."

Things must be getting serious with GF Josie Canseco ... 'cause Brody Jenner tells TMZ Sports he wants to meet her daddy, Jose ... and even hit some dingers with him!!!

Jenner's been dating the ex-MLB slugger's daughter for the since last month following his breakup with Kaitlynn Carter ... and the 2 have been pretty much inseparable ever since.

Now that things are picking up steam, we asked the DJ out at LAX if he's met Josie's parents yet ... and he says he hasn't -- but WANTS to!!!

"I haven't met him yet ... Am I nervous? It's always nerve-racking when you're meeting the pops. But, Jose, he seems like a good guy, right?" Jenner tells us.

Sorry, Khalil Mack ... the Chicago Bears do NOT have the best defense in the NFL -- so says Patriots DB JC Jackson, who tells TMZ Sports that honor belongs to New England!

"I feel like we've got the best defense so far," Jackson says ... "I feel like we've got the best defense in the league."

The Pats have steamrolled to a 4-0 start ... and a big reason for that is the 11 dudes NOT on Tom Brady's side of the ball.

Through the first quarter of the season, the Pats are allowing a league-best 243 yards per game ... and have TEN interceptions -- at least 5 more than every other squad in the NFL.

For those reasons, JC -- who had two picks against the Bills on Sunday -- says the Pats deserve the NFL's top D title ... telling us, "Right now, we the best defense in the league."

Former Packers star James Jones loves Antonio Brown's skill set ... but he says Green Bay does NOT need to sign the guy to make a serious playoff run.

Brown's been a free agent ever since New England cut ties with him earlier this month ... and some believe he'd be the perfect fit with Aaron Rodgers and the Cheeseheads.

But, Jones tells TMZ Sports Brown has to get all of his legal problems squared away before that talk even remotely begins.

And ... even if AB is able to get all that taken care of, Jones says it ain't necessary for Matt LaFleur to go out and add the problematic wide receiver.

"They've got everything they need to make a playoff run right now," Jones tells us.

The ring wasn't the only place for action at Staples Center Saturday night ... 'cause a massive brawl took place in the crowd of the Errol Spence-Shawn Porter fight and TMZ Sports has the video.

We're told the fracas got started after the 4th round when 2 fans started arguing about who was winning the fight.

All hell broke loose after that ... with a co-ed scrap going down and bodies flying everywhere.

The fight lasted for almost a minute.

Dwayne Haskins needs to go back to the bench now ... 'cause Redskins legend Joe Theismann says the rookie QB ain't ready to face Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

The 22-year-old rookie out of Ohio State -- the 15th pick in this year's draft -- was thrown into the Skins-Giants game in the 2nd quarter ... and things didn't exactly go smoothly.

Haskins was 9 of 17 for 107 yards ... and he threw 3 interceptions. The Redskins lost 24-3.

That was against the mediocre New York Giants ... with the undefeated New England Patriots -- and their hellacious defense -- coming into town this week, Theismann says DH can't start at QB.

"You cannot start him against the New England Patriots. You can't start Dwayne Haskins against the New England Patriots. I mean, it can't happen. It wouldn't be good for him, it wouldn't be good for the franchise, it wouldn't be good for football for crying out loud."

Joe says he's seen all-time greats play bad in the beginning ... so just 'cause Haskins struggled, doesn't mean he won't be a star in the future.

"I go all the way back to Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning's rookie season, he threw 29 interceptions. And, you just have to be committed to somebody and realize that it takes time to be able to play this position."

Joe also says the Redskins problems go a lot deeper than QB.

"What bothers me more than anything was the undisciplined nature," Theismann says.

"The penalties that we got. The offsides. The continuing holding by the offensive line. Those are my concerns, besides Dwayne."

"So, if you're a Redskins fan, it isn't just the quarterback position, case missing people open, Dwayne having to go in and play and not really looking like he'd be able to handle it at this moment. But, it's those other things that really have got me concerned."

Oakland Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict's vicious hit on Jack Doyle has landed him a season-ending suspension ... the league announced on Monday.

Burfict -- who has a history of dirty plays -- was ejected from Sunday's game after hitting the Colts player with a helmet-to-helmet tackle.

The NFL handed down the severe punishment on Monday ... with VP of football operations saying in a letter to Burfict straight-up, “There were no mitigating circumstances on this play."

"Your contact was unnecessary, flagrant and should have been avoided. For your actions, you were penalized and disqualified from the game.”

The suspension is an NFL record for one violent play. Burfict has been suspended multiple times as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, which also contributed to the punishment.

“Following each of your previous rule violations, you were warned by me and each of the jointly-appointed appeal officers that future violations would result in escalated accountability measures. However, you have continued to flagrantly abuse rules designated to protect yourself and your opponents from unnecessary risk.”

“Your extensive history of rules violations is factored into this decision regarding accountability measures.”

The angry little bagel guy may have made a big mistake by pulling out of his "celebrity" fight at the last minute ... because the promoter's lawyered up and wants to hit him where it hurts, legally speaking.

Chris Morgan surprised everyone involved with his scheduled boxing event Saturday night in Atlantic City by announcing on Twitter hours before that he'd fooled them all ... and had no intention of showing up to get beat up.

We're told promoted Damon Feldman is PISSED about the ruse, and has retained an attorney to explore legal options to take against Bagel Guy.

Our sources say Morgan didn't give anyone a heads up on backing out, so Feldman and other promoters found out he wasn't coming when everyone else did ... which forced them to scramble to find a replacement.

LeBron James says the NCAA bill that CA governor Gavin Newsom just signed is going to change "countless" lives ... and he's praising the guy for coming on his show to put pen to paper.

Newsom joined LBJ on "The Shop" this week ... and put his signature on a law that will allow athletes at California universities to profit off their names and likenesses without penalty for the first time ever.

Of course ... the bill was STRONGLY opposed by NCAA officials, who said it would create an unfair advantage and blur the "distinction between college and professional athletes."

But, Newsom clearly disagreed ... and LeBron was fired up to help give him the platform to make the public signing.

A random Twitter troll got ethered on Sunday ... and it was all at the hands of NFL running back C.J. Anderson!!

The current free agent -- who recently got cut by the Lions -- was just minding his business and sharing his 2 cents about his old teammate, Todd Gurley, on Sunday ... when one guy decided to bring up his weight.

"At least you got a good view from your couch fat boy"

Now ... there are several ways to go about responding to Twitter trolls, but if you got money like C.J., the obvious choice is to bring up the bank account.

"Being paid to sit here my man. I believe that’s the difference between me on the couch and you."

Ouch.

But, the troll wasn't going down without a fight, hitting C.J. back with "Just be nice if you would spend as much time exercising as you do on Twitter , good to see your proud of getting paid to sit on the couch"

C.J. wasn't having any of that talk ... bringing everything back to perspective to land one final blow.

"This can go both ways right? ' I need to get off twitter to hit the gym' however, your trolling another grown man instead of trying to make sure ya life is straight. Lol you have officially become a clown."

NASCAR star Bubba Wallace looked like a jerk Sunday ... dousing a sick driver with a drink and calling him a "bitch" -- and it's all 'cause he thinks the dude intentionally wrecked him.

Here's the deal ... during Sunday's race at Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval, Wallace ran into several issues with fellow driver Alex Bowman.

On Lap 1, Bowman hit Wallace ... and 25-year-old Wallace was so PISSED over the incident -- he allegedly flipped off Bowman for the next few laps of the race.

Then, on Lap 42 ... Bowman hit Wallace AGAIN -- this time spinning him out in a turn and causing his car to crash into a wall.

Wallace was CLEARLY heated over the move ... 'cause after the race, he sought out Bowman -- who was being tended to by NASCAR docs for dehydration -- and threw his drink in his face!!

Errol Spence Jr. is on a mission to get Manny Pacquiao into the ring and nothing ... not even the L.A. turn-up scene, is going to get in the way of that.

We got Spence out in L.A. only a night removed from a razor-thin victory over Shawn Porter in what some are calling the best fight of the year, and he still had one thing on his mind ... Manny.

"I want Manny Pacquiao."

Spence has been calling out Manny for a while, wanting both the big money and the prestige boost that would come from fighting -- and maybe beating -- an all-time great.

Pac-Man has said he's not gonna fight again until 2020, and hasn't said against who ... but after watching the success Porter had against Spence (just look at Errol's face), you gotta wonder if Manny is more inclined to dance with ES.

We'll see about that ... and we'll also see Errol coming from a mile away ... dude's neck was DRIPPING with ice.

NFL all-time sack leader Bruce Smith says there's one player in the league right now that reminds him of himself, and it's none other than Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett.

Bruce has 200 sacks -- the only member of the 200 sack club in league history -- and says he loves the crop of young, nasty, hungry defensive talent in the NFL right now.

"Von Miller, I can't say enough about him ... Aaron Donald. Stud. He gets after it and gets it done. Then you have Khalil Mack."

As much praise as he heaped on all those guys, there was only one talent that Smith described as looking in a mirror from the past.

"Myles Garrett reminds me of myself. Tremendously talented young man. He's strong, he's big, he's faster. I consider him to be able to put together a breakout year this year, and be one of the top choices for defensive player of the year."

FYI, Garrett currently sits at 26.5 sacks for his career ... leaving him only about 183 behind Bruce for the all-time record.

Vanes Martirosyan -- a stud boxer who just fought Gennady Golovkin last year -- was arrested earlier this month and cops suspect he headbutted his wife.

TMZ Sports has learned 33-year-old Martirosyan -- a middleweight with a career record of 36-4 -- got into an argument with his wife in their Glendale-area home on Sept. 15.

Our law enforcement sources say the altercation started as a verbal fight ... but then things took a violent turn.

We're told the 5-foot-11, 175-pound boxer allegedly grabbed his wife by the arm and is believed to have headbutted her square in the face.

We're told she was able to flee the home ... and after cops showed up to the scene, they found her with a bruise on her arm and a messed-up nose.

Air Drake is about to see some real-life liftoff from the public, 'cause the Sacramento Kings are gonna be using Drizzy's jumbo jet this week for a long trip to India.

The Kings announced some last-minute flight arrangements this weekend, saying owner Vivek Ranadive -- who's Indian-American -- got in touch with Drake's camp and cut a deal to have the players and a bunch of the coaching staff fly in his $200 million Boeing 767 jet.

They'll be in the air for 20-plus hours starting Monday, and seeing how this would be among the first preseason games of the year -- the Kings face the Pacers in Mumbai Friday and Saturday -- it looks like Vivek wanted to send his team over in style. Well, he nailed it.
