Jay-Z I Demand a Black Arbitrator To Handle Roc Nation Logo Dispute
-
EXCLUSIVE

4:00 PM PT -- The judge has granted the TRO, staying the arbitration until the next court date. Spiro tells TMZ that the order "is a victory for everyone."
To paraphrase Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" ... Jay-Z wants to see some black faces on a list of potential arbitrators to handle a legal battle over his company's logo, and until he does ... TMZ has learned he wants to pump the brakes on the case.
According to docs, obtained by TMZ, Jay-Z's lawyers are requesting a restraining order that would put an immediate halt to the lawsuit Iconix Brand filed against him. In the docs, Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, says they've been given a deadline of Nov. 30 to choose an arbitrator in the case, but the list of candidates they've been given is, quite frankly, too lily white.
TMZ broke the story ... Iconix Brand says it paid $204 million for merchandising rights for the Roc Nation logo. Iconix sued Jay because the logo got slapped on a bunch of MLB gear without its permission. Both sides have agreed to handle the dispute in arbitration, rather than open court.
However, Jay's legal team is clearly concerned the lack of diversity could hurt their chance of getting a fair shake in the case.
In the docs, they say they initially got a list of 200 potential arbitrators, NONE of whom were African-American. After they complained, they got a new list of 6 arbitrators "of color," but one of them is a partner at the law firm repping Iconix ... a clear conflict of interest.
Jay-Z's team wants the restraining order so they can determine if the other candidates have similar conflicts. Bottom line ... they need more time and more black arbitrators.

Denzel Washington Early XMAS for Valet!!!
Denzel Washington doesn't give a damn it's still November ... dude's already in the spirit of giving.
The Oscar-winning actor was leaving Madeo Tuesday night in Bev Hills where he was flanked by his family ... including his son and "Ballers" star John David Washington.
We ask Denzel about Amari Cooper and the Cowboys -- huge game at home coming up against the Saints -- but as you can see in this video, and unbeknownst to us, Denzel was being a smooth operator.
Denzel tells the paps to watch their backs but little did we know he was also looking out for someone else's back ... the valet guy!!! Our camera didn't catch it but it's clear from these pics Denzel pre-planned on giving the valet guy a $100 tip ... folding Benjamin Franklin before handing it to him.
Way to set an example, Denzel.

Conor McGregor 6-Month Driving Ban In Ireland ... Over Speeding Incident
Conor McGregor will be living the chauffeur life for a while -- the UFC star's driver's license has been suspended for 6 MONTHS in Ireland over a 2017 speeding incident.
McGregor arrived to court Wednesday morning -- in a SHARP looking suit -- in County Kildare, Ireland to face the judge in a case where he was accused of doing 95 mph in a 60 in a blue Range Rover.
Aside from having his driving privileges revoked, McGregor was also hit with an $1,100 fine.
During the hearing, McGregor reportedly apologized to the court -- but the judge was upset and asked why Conor wasn't charged for a more serious crime, considering how dangerously the UFC star was driving.
After the hearing, McGregor told media including the Irish Mirror, "I gotta drive safer."
Funny, the punishment for speeding seems to be more harsh than Conor's punishment for throwing a steel dolly at a bus in Brooklyn earlier this year.
4/5/18
Remember, in the case Conor was sentenced to 5 days of community service, ordered to pay for the damages and complete an anger management course.
As for the driving ban, too bad for McGregor -- his fleet of cars is sick ... dude drives everything from Lamborghinis to Rolls-Royces ... even giant Proper 12 semi-trucks.
Good thing he can afford a driver ...

Man Shoots Son During Thanksgiving Fight Over NFL Kneeling Protests
A North Carolina man grabbed a shotgun and fired at his son during a HEATED Thanksgiving Day argument about kneeling players in the NFL.
Makes you feel a little better about your family, right?
Here's the deal ... cops say 51-year-old Jorge Luis Valencia-Lamadrid had invited family members over to his home for Turkey Day when his two sons began arguing about NFL kneelers.
The sons began fighting and Jorge tried to break it up -- but realized his kids were too strong. So, he went and got his shotgun.
Officials say Jorge told his 21-year-old son -- who appeared intoxicated -- to leave the home.
Things began to escalate again -- and the son allegedly threw a water bottle at Jorge, striking him in the face -- and causing him to squeeze the trigger on his gun.
The shot connected with his son -- striking him in the hand and leg. Jorge told cops he checked on his son, made sure he wasn't seriously injured and then went inside to change his clothes.
Don't worry, the son will be fine.
As for Jorge, he was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He's since been released.
Wonder how Christmas is gonna go ...

The L.A. celebrity burglary ring is WAY bigger than we thought -- officials say a total of 10 gang members were a part of the group targeting stars like Rihanna, Yasiel Puig and LeBron James.
Officials had previously arrested 4 people in connection to the crime wave -- after video captured a couple of guys breaking into Puig's home and raiding his bedroom.

The charges include everything from criminal street gang conspiracy to 1st degree residential burglary and home invasion robbery.
In total, cops say the burglary crew hit more than 24 homes -- and had at least 12 more rich and famous targets in their sights, including Viola Davis.
The key to solving the case ... cops say a neighbor of NFL star Robert Woods had called police to report a robbery at his house. Cops located the suspect and, during the arrest, they found items connected to the other high profile cases.
In total, cops say the group stole more than $1 MILLION in property -- including $50,000 cash, watches, purses and a vehicle. Cops say one of the suspects also had a firearm.

Reuben Foster Claimed By Redskins After Dom. Violence Arrest
The Redskins have claimed Reuben Foster just days after he was cut by the 49ers following a domestic violence arrest in Tampa Bay over the weekend ... the team announced.
As we previously reported, the superstar LB was allegedly involved in an altercation with a female at the Niners' hotel Saturday night ... in which a woman says Reuben took her phone and slapped her in the face.
When the woman spoke with police, she told them Foster had also pushed her in the chest and hit her with an open hand on the left side of her face. Cops say they noticed a scratch on her collarbone.
The 49ers cut Foster following the arrest ... with coach Kyle Shanahan saying, “Our number one rule is you got to protect the team and he’s put us in a bad light too much.”
Redskins Senior VP of Player Personnel Doug Williams said in a statement they're very aware of the severity of the accusations, but say Foster could be worth the risk regardless.
"We decided to investigate the situation with Reuben further by claiming his rights after candid conversations with a number of his ex-Alabama teammates and current Redskins players who were overwhelmingly supportive of us taking this chance."
Doug added, "Let me be clear, Reuben will have to go through numerous steps including the full legal process, an investigation and potential discipline from the NFL, as well as meetings with counselors associated with the team before he will ever have the opportunity to wear the Burgundy and Gold as a player."
"Nothing is promised to Reuben, but we are hopeful being around so many of his former teammates and friends will eventually provide him with the best possible environment to succeed both personally and professionally."
Reuben has started 16 games in his NFL career ... piling up over 100 tackles.

Adam Vinatieri Best Kick Of My Career? Snow Bowl, Baby!!!
Remember the two field goals Adam Vinatieri made that won Tom Brady and the Patriots two Super Bowls??
Yeah ... A.V. says they aren't the best of his career.
"As proud as I am of those two kicks, I think the one that I'm probably the most proud of is the one in the Snow Bowl game in the divisional playoff game against Oakland."
That's right ... the dude who's made over 575 kicks in his career and owns the most points in NFL history says his 45-yard, 4th-quarter boot back in 2001 tops 'em all.
"There were five, six, seven inches of snow on the ground, we’re down by three and it’s a 45-yard field goal," Vinatieri said on the Talk of Fame Network.
"And, if you miss, the season’s over and you’re cleaning out your locker."
Adam continued: “To be able to put that one through the posts … to be able to tie the game up and then go into overtime and have a shorter field goal to win … I think that’s probably the one I’m most proud of just because of the sheer difficulty."
Of course ... that WAS the field goal that kicked off the whole Pats dynasty -- so maybe Adam's got a point.
Then again, if the Tuck Rule never happened -- neither does the kick.
Sorry, Oakland.

Nev Schulman went fishing for a new "Catfish" co-host and turned up with a handful of celebs to help him ... including NBA star Nick Young.
Sources close to the production tell TMZ ... Swaggy P will be 1 of 8 guest co-hosts when the new season debuts Wednesday night. The other guests include model Slick Woods; Jane Carrey, Jim's daughter; Tallulah Willis, singer Elle King and former NFL star Rashad Jennings.
TMZ broke the story ... Nev's been searching for a new co-host since Max Joseph bounced earlier this year after 7 years on the job.
That set things in motion for MTV to begin its search. Nev himself had a list in mind and really swung for the fences ... 'cause he was down to bring Cardi B on board. No dice there, but he still got some entertaining guests.
Nick's no stranger to the spotlight. He once made out with a puppet and went on a bro date with Draymond Green but also nearly blew his hand off in this crazy 4th of July video.
Swaggy P's gonna have tough competition ... he's not the only guest co-host who knows how to grab headlines. Remember, Slick recently went into labor right after walking the runway at NYFW.

CM Punk 'I'm Not Fighting Logan Paul'
Sorry, Logan Paul, you ain't gettin' a crack at CM Punk in the UFC Octagon -- Punk just slammed the door on the possibility ... and then dissed the YouTube star for good measure.
Logan's brother Jake Paul had been lobbying Dana White to make the fight happen -- claiming Logan is a real athlete who could compete with guys on the UFC roster, including Punk.
In fact, Joe Rogan said he was impressed with Logan's talent during his boxing match with KSI earlier this year ... and made it clear he thinks Paul would whoop Punk in the UFC.
Now, Punk sat down with MMAFighting's Marc Raimondi and told him straight up -- ain't happening.
"I’m not fighting Logan Paul."
Then came the shade ...
"I think this is one of the avenues where people will be like, ‘I don’t even know who Logan Paul is.’ Logan Paul is apparently a popular guy, but it’s not in any kind of avenue that I drive my car on. The only thing I know about him is he’s the guy who filmed the dead body in the Japanese suicide forest, which is don’t get me started on that, because I’ll say a bunch of stuff and then I’m sure somebody will make a YouTube video about it."
There's more ...
"When you fight somebody, when you enter into a fight camp, you have to spend a lot of time thinking about that person ... And, I’m not into sharing that much of my time and my headspace and my life with somebody that did something that I feel is so reprehensibly disrespectful to the people of Japan, who I love."
"They’ll always have a special place in my heart. So, no. I’m not fighting him. I have no interest to."
Punk says he's still technically on the UFC roster and is tested by USADA in case he's called on for another fight ... but says he'd also be at peace if Dana White cut him.

Dana White Rips 'Cokehead' Oscar De La Hoya for Letting Chuck Liddell Fight
-
Breaking News
Dana White just went scorched Earth on Oscar De La Hoya -- blasting the head of Golden Boy Promotions as a "f*cking cokehead" who irresponsibly let Chuck Liddell fight Tito Ortiz this past weekend.
"I love Chuck Liddell and I don’t ever want to bad mouth Chuck Liddell,” White said on the "UFC Unfiltered" podcast on Tuesday.
"People even think I’m remotely bad mouthing Chuck Liddell, but the reality is -- first of all, I heard last week the cokehead ‘Oscar De La Weirdo’ is talking sh*t that I don’t have any place to tell guys when to retire."
"First of all, it’s called ‘friendship’ you f*cking cokehead."
"I’ve been friends with Chuck Liddell for 20 years and the reality is that Chuck Liddell retired when he should have retired. Eight, nine years ago, however long it was. And, Chuck Liddell’s almost 50-years-old and has no business fighting anymore."
"The fact that the state of California even let that fight happen is disgusting. Disgusting."
He continued ... "Chuck Liddell has an incredible legacy. He’s a huge superstar in this sport, so of course as a friend, anybody who claims to be a friend of Chuck Liddell and was anywhere near this fight is full of sh*t. They’re not a friend of Chuck Liddell. To let him go in and fight this fight is terrible."
Of course, Chuck was knocked out in the 1st round of his fight with Ortiz -- and after the bout, he told TMZ Sports he's not sure if he'll step in the cage again.
Clearly, he knows how Dana feels about the situation ...
Dana and Oscar have been publicly feuding for a while -- ever since Oscar blasted Dana for the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match.
Oscar said the fight could kill the sport of boxing.
White responded by calling Oscar a "two-faced" jerk.
