Shaq didn't need to throw on a cape to become a hero and comfort a family that had just been involved in a scary car crash, because he had a different superhero outfit -- Broward County Sheriff's issue.

The NBA legend was on his way to give away turkeys in Florida on Thanksgiving when he and members of the Broward County Sheriff's Office witnessed a head-on collision. Shaq and the deputies rushed to their aid ... you can see him comforting the kids.

After cops handled the situation, they all continued on with their plan to hand out turkeys. BTW ... Shaq was on holiday duty. He recently became an "auxiliary deputy" for the Broward Sheriff's Office. See, even NBA Hall of Famers get stuck working the holidays when you're a newbie.

Dikembe Mutombo loves Joel Embiid so damn much, he wants the young star to carry on his legendary finger wag ... so he's offering up personal lessons!

First off, props to Mutombo who spent his Turkey Day volunteering at the Hosea Williams Feed The Hungry Thanksgiving dinner in Atlanta. Good on you and everyone involved in that program.

As for Embiid, Mutombo has previously talked about how he views the Philadelphia 76ers star "like a son" -- but clearly thinks the kid needs a little more swag in his game!

"I'm trying to teach him the 'No, no, no! Not today!'"

Ya gotta watch Dikembe talk about Embiid -- he loves the guy ... but he also loves to tease him about how he'll never break his records or go down as the greatest NBA player who hails from an African country.

NBA superstar Steph Curry was in a multi-car wreck on an Oakland highway early Friday morning -- his Porsche was smashed up -- but he appears to be okay.

It all went down around 9 AM -- the Golden State Warriors star was driving on Highway 24 when a car spun out a collided with Steph's black Porsche. Then a second car smashed into Curry from behind.

The road conditions appeared to be a factor -- it's been raining in the area and the roads are wet.

An ambulance and the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene, but Curry, along with everyone involved in the accident, seems to be fine -- no serious injuries -- according to the CHP.

The Warriors are scheduled to play the Portland Trailblazers Friday night, but Curry won't be in the lineup due to an unrelated groin injury.

Floyd Mayweather spent an ungodly amount of money on jewelry during an L.A. shopping spree last week ... dropping $5.3 MILLION on new chains and bracelets, TMZ Sports has learned.

The champ hit up jeweler to the stars Peter Marco at his shop in Beverly Hills on Nov. 14 ... and went HAM. Here's the breakdown:

-- One 30-carat pear-shaped, fancy yellow VVS ring for $2.3 MILLION.

-- One 3-4.5 ct. diamond bracelet for another $2.5 MILLION

-- One 2-pound yellow gold Cuban necklace and 3 watches for a combined $500k

Add all that up ... and you got a whoppin' $5.3 mil.

How'd Mayweather pay for all of the stuff? He wrote checks! (Hey, can't pay for everything in cash!)

Of course, Floyd ain't shy about his insane purchases ... remember his $18 MILLION watch ... and his $2 MILLION car fleet ... and oh yeah, his $10 MILLION ring and chain combo.

Makes ya kinda wish you became an undefeated international boxing superstar, huh?

Floyd is still lining up big money events for himself -- he claims he'll make a fortune for fighting Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan on New Year's Eve.

Plus, Floyd told us he'll make a 9-FIGURE payday if he can come to terms with Khabib Nurmagomedov for a boxing superfight in 2019.

Jon Gruden traded both Amari Cooper AND Khalil Mack ... but Kurt Warner tells TMZ Sports the Raiders coach will REALLY regret things if he gives up on Derek Carr the same way.

"It's so hard to find one of those guys that when you've found him, you better hold on to him," Kurt says.

Of course, rumors of Chucky trading away Carr have been swirling for weeks ... and kicked up once again Sunday when the two were spotted butting heads on the sideline.

Forget Drago's kid ... Michael B. Jordan had a totally different opponent in "Creed II," because his trainer says the real fight was a body battle between MBJ and the original Creed, Carl Weathers.

MBJ is otherworldly jacked for the new flick, and when we talked to his trainer, Corey Calliet, he says even though Mike has been pumped up for a while now, he took it to a new level for the sequel.

Heavyweight boxing contender Dominic Breazeale says he's still VERY pissed off about his violent hotel altercation with Deontay Wilder last year ... and desperately wants a shot to get revenge in the ring.

Remember, Dominic and Deontay were involved in a crazy brawl in a hotel lobby in Alabama in 2017 ... with Brazil saying he was blindsided by a mob of 20 people who attacked him in front of his wife and kids.

Brazil pointed the finger at Wilder -- and said the "cowardly attack" will "not go unpunished."

Now, Dominic is one step closer to making his wish come true ... because if Wilder beats Tyson Fury, he MUST fight Dominic in order to keep his WBC title.

Dominic tells us he's been thinking about the fight with Deontay every single day of his life -- and says he's been dreaming of bashing the guy's face in ever since the altercation.

In fact, Dominic says he'll fight Wilder in the street or an MMA cage if need be -- he just wants to fight, and says it'll be a "bloodbath."

As for Wilder, he's been talking A LOT of trash about Dominic -- promising to "cripple" him if they ever fight and warning him to spend time with his family while he's still able-bodied.

If they do fight, Dominic says he hopes to schedule the bout for Spring 2019.

UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich is doing her best to get back to normal after her MMA fighter husband allegedly broke her face in a brutal attack ... and she wants all her fans to know she's doing OK.

Rachael was spotted in Hawaii Thursday for the first time since hubby Arnold Berdon was arrested Tuesday for attempted murder ... and she quietly thanked her fans for their well wishes and said she's all right.

Rachael is wearing dark sunglasses and it seems like she's a bit cautious, because her family admits they were a bit startled when the photog rolled up.

TMZ broke the story ... in court docs, Rachael describes the alleged beating in brutal detail, claiming her husband cracked her orbital after punching her repeatedly in the head, face and ribs.

Rachael was set to fight Paige VanZant in January ... but she's already pulled out after being diagnosed with a broken eye socket and other injuries.

The good news ... Rachael is out of the hospital and hanging with loved ones on Thanksgiving.

7:45 AM PT -- Looks like Tekashi will be dining at a new facility for Bird Day. TMZ broke the story, Tekashi got moved to a new center late Wednesday night for "security reasons."

The most notorious prisoners behind bars this year will partake in Thanksgiving like the rest of us.

According to prison menus across the country, guys like Tekashi69, Bill Cosby, Suge Knight and Paul Manafort -- all of whom left public life in jumpsuits in 2018 for one reason or another (or several) -- are set to be served relatively modest meals Thursday, all of which include basics like turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce and greens.

-- Turkey or eggplant, mashed sweet potato, corn, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, biscuit and pumpkin pie

Joc Pederson is gonna have to rent scooters by the minute like the rest of us normies now ... 'cause the Dodgers star had his personal Bird jacked -- TMZ Sports has learned.

Sources tell us the outfielder had his electric wheels stolen outta his car recently near his San Fernando Valley home.

We're told Joc woke up and saw his car's window smashed out and his scooter taken ... and he reported the crime to the LAPD.

Sources say no arrests have been made ... but cops are investigating the whole thing.

The Bird is only valued at around $500 -- and Joc just made $2.6 MILLION this year -- but we're told the wheels were a gift from the company, so there's some sentimental value there.

We reached out to Joc for comment -- but no word back yet.

Think the Giants need to draft Eli Manning's replacement IMMEDIATELY this offseason??

Floyd Mayweather was right to back out of his MMA fight with Tenshin Nasukawa ... 'cause the kid's the Michael Jordan of kickboxing and Floyd woulda got his ass beat -- so says a RIZIN star.

TMZ Sports spoke with Daron Cruickshank -- who was set to be on the same fight card as Floyd and Tenshin in their NYE tilt in Tokyo -- and he tells us Tenshin's no joke on the mat.

"He's like the Michael Jordan, over there, of kickboxing," Cruickshank says.

Of course ... Floyd bailed on the fight initially in part because he thought it was understood it would be solely a boxing match.

But ... Mayweather says the fight might be back on now that he's made sure it'll be hands ONLY.

Daron says that's a smart move by Money ... saying Floyd woulda gotten SMOKED if they allowed Tenshin's feet to get involved.

"If they did a kickboxing match, I think Tenshin would win. If they did a regular kickboxing match, Tenshin would win."

"But, in a boxing match, I don't think he would stand a chance."

Luckily for all of us ... it looks like we might get to see it go down after all -- 'cause Floyd says, "We're gonna make it happen."

TMZ Sports has obtained court documents in which UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich describes the beating she claims she took at the hands of her MMA fighter husband on Nov. 18 ... and it's horrific.

"After a night out with family, [Arnold Berdon] punched me repeatedly on the head, face, ribs, making me fall to the ground," Rachael says in her petition for a restraining order filed in Hawaii.

"I gasped for breath and escaped thru [sic] balcony. I coughed up blood, threw up sev. times. Cracked orbital."

In the docs, Ostovich claims Berdon had physically abused her in the past -- citing a specific incident on May 6, 2018 where he allegedly punched her in the legs repeatedly, leaving bruises.

Ostovich requested a restraining order against Berdon -- claiming he's a danger to her and their 5-year-old daughter.

The court granted the request and Berdon must stay 100 feet away from both of them.

As we previously reported, Berdon was arrested Tuesday for 2nd degree attempted murder -- a charge that carries up to a life sentence if convicted.

Berdon's family members have told us he plans to argue that he was defending himself on Nov.18 and did not initiate the violence.

Ostovich was scheduled to fight Paige VanZant in January -- but had to pull out due to her broken orbital bone.

Manny Pacquiao has put an expiration date on his boxing career -- telling TMZ Sports the plan is to fight until 2021 ... and then hang up the gloves for good.

Manny -- who turns 40 next month -- has a big fight coming up against Adrien Broner in January. Since there aren't a lot of guys fighting into their 40s, we asked if he would retire if he lost the fight.

Of course, Manny is super confident and told us losing ain't an option -- but either way, he plans on fighting for 3 more years before moving on to the next phase of his life.

So, what's next for Manny? He's got options.

Not only is he a politician back home in the Philippines ... he also dabbles in music and basketball. Remember, the guy owns his own hoops LEAGUE in his country.

In fact, we spotted PacMan out on the court in Los Angeles where he hit the winning shot during a pickup game at Pan Pacific Park on Wednesday. He ain't exactly Allen Iverson, but he's got some game. Some.
