UFC's Stephan Bonnar Arrested for DUI Detained By Gun-Toting Citizens

Published | Updated

1:22 PM PT -- Cops say Bonnar was speeding down I-15 in a red Cadillac CTS in excess of 90 MPH around 1:15 PM.

Witnesses say he was driving like a maniac. By the time the Highway Patrol responded to the scene, citizens had already surrounded the vehicle and physically restrained Bonnar, who appeared incoherent.

As cops tried to place handcuffs on him, Bonnar woke up and began to resist. With help from the citizens, cops eventually got him cuffed and transported him to a nearby station where he was booked for 3rd-degree felony DUI.

Cops say Bonnar reeked of booze. Medical staff also responded to the scene and determined nothing was medically abnormal, he was just drunk.

UFC Hall of Famer Stephan Bonnar was arrested for DUI on Sunday -- after a group of concerned citizens (one armed with a gun) corralled him after an apparent car crash in Nevada.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... witnesses claim the 41-year-old was driving erratically and feared he would hurt someone.

Somehow, a group of concerned citizens wrangled Bonnar to the ground and kept him at bay until law enforcement arrived.

One he was taken into official custody he was booked for DUI, resisting arrest and unsafe driving. Bail was set at $22,000.

Bonnar is a UFC legend -- he fought Forrest Griffin in the finale of the very first season of "The Ultimate Fighter" back in 2005 -- a fight that's regarded as one of the best and most important in UFC history.

Bonnar lost that fight, but got a UFC contract out of the deal and went on to have a pretty solid career -- fighting guys like Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

Morten Andersen Vinatieri Is A 1st-Ballot HOFer Proud He Broke My Record!

Published | Updated

Is it possible a kicker could wait LESS time than Terrell Owens did to get into the Hall of Fame???

Morten Andersen clearly thinks so ... 'cause the legendary Saints kicker says there's no doubt Adam Vinatieri will be a 1st-ballot HOFer after setting the all-time points mark Sunday.

"Adam's resume is very strong," Morten tells TMZ Sports.

"That's going to be validated, that's going to be confirmed once he decides to hang up his cleats and waits the obligatory 5 years. He'll be in Canton, Ohio."

Of course, that'd be unprecedented. Only 5 kickers have ever made it to the Hall ... and Andersen -- who held the all-time points record at 2,544 before A.V. beat it -- had to wait a decade to get in.

But, Morten thinks Vinatieri is just that good, saying, "He's done it in big games. He's won Super Bowls!"

We also talked with Andersen about field-goal kicking nowadays vs. back when he played ... and he tells us he can't believe some of the yardage dudes are consistently nailing from now.

But ... when we asked Morten for the longest field goal he's ever drilled ... he tells us he once made one FROM HIS OWN 36-YARD LINE!!!!!!!!

Ty Lue Better Off After Cleveland Firing ... Says Dahntay Jones

Published | Updated
Dahntay Jones
GOOD THINGS WILL COME

Ty Lue getting fired is actually a GOOD THING ... so says NBA champ Dahntay Jones, who tells TMZ Sports the coach is better off with a new team, hopefully a legit contender.

Lue is currently unemployed after the Cavs started the season 0-6 ... and, while some say the team did him dirty after 3 straight NBA Finals appearances, Jones sees it differently.

"I think it could be a positive thing for him," Jones says. "He knows how to lead stars, lead veterans and lead a team that's trying to go towards a championship that has a chance to win a championship."

Currently, with Kevin Love out for about a month ... the team has turned to rookie Collin Sexton and 2nd-year pro Cedi Osman. Jones thinks it's just not the right roster for Ty's skill set.

"He's best with teams that are already built and ready to win a championship."

Jones -- who won a title with Lue in Cleveland in 2016 -- has nothing but high praise for his old coach ... and says he'll find a new gig in no time.

'Basketball Wives' Gloria Govan D.A. Rejects ... Felony Child Endangerment Case

Published | Updated

The L.A. County D.A. has rejected criminal charges against Gloria Govan ... this after she was arrested for felony child endangerment in a super bitter custody war with ex-husband Matt Barnes.

Gloria was arrested the Friday before Labor Day after Matt claimed she put the lives of their twin boys at risk by allegedly flying into a rage in her car, blocking Matt and the kids from driving away from their school.

Sources connected with Gloria called BS on Matt's claim he had custody of the kids that weekend. Gloria says she even asked her lawyer well in advance to notify Matt's attorney Labor Day weekend was hers.

On the day in question ... her rep told the D.A. Gloria went to the school to pick up the boys, but Matt was already there. She says the kids were in her car when Matt ordered the boys to get in his car ... she believed in violation of the custody order. Gloria says she blocked his car, called 911 and "calmly" waited for cops.

Gloria denied she drove crazy to get at Matt's car and ultimately the D.A. said there was insufficient evidence to move forward.

Matt subsequently got a restraining order, keeping Gloria 100 yards from the kids. She's only allowed to see the boys once a week with a monitor present.

Gloria and Matt are in court Monday ... a judge will determine whether to make the restraining order permanent or end it.

WISH HIM THE BEST

Dana White says he wishes nothing but the best for Demetrious Johnson now that he's leaving UFC for another MMA promotion -- and tells TMZ Sports he hopes DJ finally gets the respect he deserves from fans.

The UFC worked out a trade with ONE Championship -- in which Johnson will leave UFC and in exchange, ONE has sent over their welterweight champion Ben Askren.

Johnson was a beast during his UFC run -- breaking the record for the most title defenses -- but he was never the pay-per-view draw a fighter of his caliber could have been.

We asked White how DJ would be remembered in the UFC -- and he told us, "I feel like he never really got the love and respect he deserved from the fans."

White added, "I don't know if he was always thrilled being here, so hopefully, he's a lot happier where he's headed now."

As for Ben Askren -- who's undefeated, 18-0 as a pro fighter -- everyone wants to know who he'll get first in the UFC.

"We're still working on it," White says ... noting, "He's definitely gonna fight somebody in the Top 5."

So, who's in the Top 5 in the UFC's welterweight division -- guys like Colby Covington, Darren Till, Rafael dos Anjos, Stephen Thompson and Robbie Lawler.

Tyron Woodley is the UFC's welterweight champ -- but he and Askren are good buddies and it seems like they're not looking to fight each other anytime soon.

Cleveland Browns Hue Jackson Fired After Losing to Steelers

Published | Updated

Another head coach just got the axe in Cleveland -- Hue Jackson has been fired by the Browns after the team racked up its 5th loss of the season.

The 53-year-old has been the head coach of the Browns since 2016 -- but they've been historically TERRIBLE ever since he took over ... 3-36-1 over the last 3 seasons.

Of course, the team went 0-16 last year but had expected big things after bringing on studs like Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry and others this season.

But, it ain't working out -- the Browns are 2-5-1 this season and things look bad.

Now, Jackson is out (as first reported by Adam Schefter) ... and the Browns are once again a team in dismay.

Bad Fun Fact -- when it comes to career winning percentage, Jackson ranks 218th out of 219 coaches in NFL history who've coached at least 40 games in their career.

Not good.

In other Cleveland news, the Cavs fired Ty Lue this weekend after an 0-6 start.

DEFENDING TY

Ty Lue is getting some love from the Rivers family -- Doc and Austin -- with Doc even saying he'd be down to hire the fired Cavs coach if he doesn't land on his feet.

Lue got his walking papers from Cleveland this weekend after a 0-6 start -- but a lot of people around the league think he got done dirty.

So, when we saw Doc and Austin at Craig's Sunday night, we asked how they felt about Lue.

Austin's never played for Ty but says he's got a ton of respect for him -- based on what he's seen and heard from other big stars in the league.

"Ty's a great dude. He's a good coach," Austin said ... "Whoever gets him will be lucky."

He added, "Heard a lot of great things about him so I think he'll be fine."

By the way, Austin and the Washington Wizards were in town to play the Clippers, coached by his father, Doc.

We asked what that's like -- for a son to play against his dad -- and they both had some thoughts.

Gurley, Jared Goff and L.A. rolled to their 8th straight win, beating Green Bay, 29-27 ... and YG was there to take it all in -- and made sure Pack fans knew about the "L" afterward.

"WHOSE HOUSE?!?!! RAMS HOUSE!!!!" YG screamed on his way to the parking lot.

The rapper didn't stop there ... yelling at every cheesehead in attendance to tell Aaron Rodgers to go back to Wisconsin.

Boston's Heath Hembree 'I F*ck With Trump!' Can't Wait to Visit White House

Published | Updated

Boston Red Sox pitcher Heath Hembree has already made up his mind -- he WILL be visiting the White House with the team ... telling TMZ Sports, "Hell yeah! I f*ck with Trump!"

Heath was leaving Nightingale nightclub after the Red Sox won Game 5 of the World Series -- and he was in a great mood.

Though it's interesting, when people were asking him questions about baseball, he went silent -- only talking about President Trump.

When asked what he liked about Trump, the 29-year-old South Carolina native told us, "Everything!"

Trump himself commented on the World Series this weekend -- taking to Twitter to rip Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for making a pitching change in Game 4 that ultimately led to a Dodgers loss.

Trump has yet to tweet a congratulatory message to the Red Sox.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred previously said he expects the winning team to visit Trump -- despite the fact Sox manager Alex Cora publicly criticized the President just last month.

Travis Scott Endorses TX Dem Beto O'Rourke ... Day After LeBron Does Same

Published | Updated

Beto O'Rourke is causing quite the stir in the Texas senate race -- so much so, he's now got Travis Scott, LeBron James and other stars firmly in his corner.

La Flame was out Sunday at an event for Beto at the Bayland Community Center in Houston, where he actually got up and addressed the huge crowd ... telling them to get out and vote for BO. BTW ... Trav is from the area. He's made that abundantly clear.

In the clip, you hear the 'Astroworld' MC tell the youngins that they can change the world as early as 18, and that they should get the message out to their peers ... go out and vote. He also tells them Beto's the guy they should get behind to "take Texas all the way up" on Nov. 6.

Beto posed with Travis as well as former Houston Texan running back Arian Foster ... thanking them for their support. Foster had previously told us he's riding the Beto wave.

The newfound celebrity push comes a day after LeBron James was seen rocking a 'Beto for Senate' hat before the Lakers game against the San Antonio Spurs Saturday night.

Beto is currently a bit behind his Republican opponent, Senator Ted Cruz, in the polls. Cruz is seeking re-election.

HEATED CONFRONTATION

The Boston Red Sox took their World Series celebration from Dodgers Stadium to the L.A. nightclub scene -- where MVP Steve Pearce was confronted and cussed out right on the street.

First off, Pearce couldn't have been nicer to fans and media -- he shook hands, he signed autographs and he was talking with the paparazzi.

But, one shirtless a-hole confronted Pearce and started screaming at the guy, "F** the Red Sox n***a. What the f*ck?!"

Pearce got into his car without even acknowledging the heckler -- but the shirtless guy continued to drop f-bombs until security came and intervened.

That wasn't all ...

Another stupid heckler confronted pitchers Matt Barnes and Brandon Workman on the way out of the nightclub and started hurling insults -- calling them "dicks" and insulting their hairlines.

Props to the Red Sox players for ignoring these guys.

NAKED CANNONBALLLLLLL!!!!

It was MADNESS in the Boston Red Sox locker room after the World Series on Sunday night -- with the team dousing manager Alex Cora in beer ... and Rick Porcello shedding all his clothes to jump buck nekkid in the beer tub!!

There was country music. There were cigars. Everyone popped bottles of Beau Joie champagne. It was awesome.

Unless you're a Dodgers fan.

But, even Los Angelinos had to appreciate the turnup -- Brock Holt showed off his country music singing skills. Mitch Moreland threw Alex Cora into a beer bucket (where he was doused in beer by the entire team).

Mookie Betts showed off his fancy championship champagne bottle.

The culmination was the crazy dance party to "California Love" by 2Pac and Dr. Dre.

The Red Sox beat the Dodgers 5-1 in Game 5 at Dodgers Stadium. Next, it's back to Beantown where the Sox will get their victory parade.

Start stocking up the beer ...

Jermaine Dupri Not With Super Bowl Boycotts ... Use The Platform!!!

NO MORE BOYCOTTS

Jermaine Dupri says artists like Jay-Z and Rihanna, who've boycotted the Super Bowl, have it all wrong ... because they missed out on an opportunity to promote their cause on the biggest stage.

Rihanna reportedly turned down the halftime show this year and Hov told the NFL to kick rocks last year, all because both artists have MAJOR issues with the league's treatment of Colin Kaepernick.

The Super Bowl is in ATL this year ... Dupri's stomping grounds ... and he tells TMZ Sports he thinks the platform of the Super Bowl is more valuable than a boycott.

"Boycotts and marches don't seem like they work to me, I'm sorry. I think they should send a message while they're onstage, take advantage of your platform."

Dupri says it's totally cool NOT to do the Super Bowl in protest as well, but makes it clear that further conversation does more good than ignoring it.

"The more people speak on it, the more they talk about it, then the more people feel like it's something they have to address. I feel like people ignore boycotts."

Gabrielle Union Lil' Kim Makes Surprise Visit To '90s-Themed Bday Party

Published | Updated

Gabrielle Union's 46th birthday party went from legit to LIT ... and it's all because Lil' Kim showed up to perform ... and shared an interesting origin story to their friendship.

Gabrielle was celebrating with D-Wade and friends Saturday night after the Miami Heat game, during a '90s-themed party ahead of her 46th birthday, when all of a sudden LK's song "The Jump Off" came on ... and then, she herself came out to surprise the bday girl.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

You can tell Gabrielle wasn't expecting the visit, 'cause she completely freaked. Kim rapped a few more verses from a number of her songs, but, at one point ... she also dished on the story of how she and Gabby met and became good pals.

It's pretty hilarious ... Kim says she thought Gabrielle was gonna be bougie at first, but when she realized GU was about that late-night studio life ... all bets were off.

One other thing ... how sick are Gabby and Dwyane's costumes as Gwen Stefani and the Fresh Prince?! 'Tis the season, we suppose.

Danny Amendola Hangin' with Olivia Culpo Look-alike

Published | Updated

Miami Dolphins star Danny Amendola has the weekend off -- so he hit the beach with a hot chick in a bikini.

The girl in the photos isn't Danny's girlfriend, Olivia Culpo -- she was in L.A. the day before these were taken. Look, it's not like they're hooking up here ... they're just talking close and having fun.

We don't know who this other woman is. Maybe they're just friends and nothing's going on here. Either way ... she's definitely a cutie.

Remember ... Olivia and Danny just got back together earlier this summer after breaking up a few months before that. They've been on-and-off (but mostly on) these past 2 years.

Things seemed to be going great for the recently reconciled couple these past few months, as Olivia's been posting tons of photos and videos of the two of them together on social media. They even hit up a beach hand-in-hand last month very similar to this one.

JUST TO NAME A FEW

Don't give Tom Brady the brown just yet -- Terry Bradshaw LAUGHED when we suggested the Patriots QB is the greatest football player of all time ... and then named 3 guys he thinks are better.

It's becoming a big debate -- where does Tom fall on the NFL's G.O.A.T. list? Tim Tebow previously told us he thinks TB12 is "probably" #1.

He's got the resume -- 5 Super Bowl rings. 8 AFC championships. 3 NFL MVPs. 4 Super Bowl MVP. 13 Pro Bowls.

But, Bradshaw says it ain't enough to jump 3 offensive legends -- and he didn't mention Lawrence Taylor, who a lot of people argue could easily be the best ever.

"You guys are too quick to anoint someone 'The Greatest,'" Bradshaw told us.

Watch the clip and decide for yourself -- is Terry right?
