UCLA Coaches We Don't Want Diddy Prosecuted

Published | Updated

The football coaching staff at UCLA has huddled and decided the best thing for everyone is for cops to drop the case against Diddy.

Sources directly connected with the team tell TMZ, the coaches are regretful the situation escalated to an arrest. They think Diddy is a jerk who they'd like to make persona non grata, but they don't want to make this a courtroom spectacle, largely because it would be bad for the team.

Sources with direct knowledge of the confrontation between Diddy and Sal Alosi tell us, after the incident the coaches all decided to just let it go. They believe an intern called UCLA police and when the cops arrived, they asked to see the video and that was enough to hook Diddy up.

We're told head coach Jim Mora does not want a criminal prosecution. The interns who were present and allegedly threatened could press the case, but if Mora is against it they would probably follow suit.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... the case will go to the L.A. County D.A. for felony review next week. The D.A. could prosecute even without victims ... there is a video, but that's problematic.

Diddy claims he picked up the kettlebell in self-defense after Alosi and 4 others made an aggressive move.

ESPN's Colin Cowherd Diddy Showered Me In Vodka For Praising His Son On Air

This is interesting ... Diddy took such an interest in his son's college football career -- he once sent a huge gift basket of Ciroc Vodka to an ESPN host who praised his kid on the air.

Colin Cowherd tells TMZ Sports ... he never intended to score free stuff from Diddy when he heaped praise on Justin Combs for making the UCLA football team a few years ago. But two days after he talked about the rap mogul's son, the free stuff showed up, courtesy of Puff.

Nice gesture, according to Cowherd who adds ... "now he's throwing kettlebells at people."

Allegedly.

Darryl Hamilton's Death Girlfriend's Ex Called 911 ... Sounds Like a Violent Situation

Published | Updated

90s Major Leaguer Darryl Hamilton was killed by his girlfriend in what police are calling a murder-suicide -- and right before the shooting ... she begged her ex-husband to call cops.

The 911 call was placed by Monica Jordan's ex Sunday around 4:45 PM outside Houston. He tells the operator Monica sounded distraught, and wanted him to get over to her house immediately.

Monica was living with Hamilton, who retired after the 2001 season ... and had played for the Mets, Giants, and several other teams.

The ex husband said he didn't think there were any weapons in the house. He was wrong. When police arrived they found Hamilton's body with multiple gunshot wounds -- and Monica's body with one self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The couple's 14-month old child was safe in the home.

Diddy's Son Thanks for Fighting for Me

Published | Updated

Diddy's son is totally cool with his father brawling with his football coaches -- in fact ... he's thanking Diddy for the fight that cost him multiple felonies.

Justin Combs broke his silence about his dad's arrest by posting a pic of himself and Diddy ... with the caption, "I thank God for having a father that's always there for me.. Love you pops!"

TMZ Sports broke the story -- we're told Justin's strength and conditioning coach, Sal Alosi, had called him out ... saying, "I don't care if your dad's here. I'm going to treat you just like I treat everyone else." Our sources also say Alosi told Justin to leave and NOT come back for the rest of the summer.

We're told that's what set off Diddy.

Seems natural for Justin to support Diddy in the dispute -- but it leaves him in an awkward situation with the team.

At least he's wearing UCLA gear in the pic.

Diddy UCLA Coach Returns to Practice ... No Yelling, No Problem

Published | Updated

One day after he was allegedly attacked by Diddy, UCLA strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi returned to practice with the football team yesterday ... as if nothing ever happened.

Eyewitnesses tell TMZ Sports ... Alosi supervised as players ran sprints and stretched -- and the players seemed to be receptive to Alosi, even huddling around him at one point ... as they usually do at workout sessions.

BTW, Alosi had no visible injuries.

Unclear if Justin Combs was at the athletic facility.

As we previously reported, UCLA head coach Jim Mora has said he's proud of the way his staff handled the incident with Diddy -- and clearly, he's standing behind Alosi ... since he let him back on the field today.

I'M GAGA FOR BENNETT

The top ranked prospect on Phil Jackson's board stands just 5'1" tall and has never played a lick of professional basketball -- and she goes by the name of Lady Gaga.

While other NBA execs are hammering the phones, scouring through pages of scouting reports and reviewing game tape, the Zen Master spent his Monday night at Radio City Music Hall seeing Gaga perform with Tony Bennett.

Unless Gaga and Tony did a special performance with Kristaps Porzingis, we're guessing this outing didn't help him prepare for Thursday's draft one bit.

Good luck, Knicks fans ... you're gonna need it.

Diddy Told UCLA Coach ... 'I'm Gonna F**k You Up'

Published | Updated

Diddy's alleged terrorist threat involved a bomb ... an f-bomb ... with sources telling TMZ Sports the rap mogul threatened to "f**k up" the UCLA strength coach during their office fight.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... after Diddy swung a kettlebell at strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi, he allegedly screamed out that he was "going to f**k him up."

Prosecutors believe the comments amounted to a "terrorist threat" -- so that's why he was hit with the charge in addition to 3 counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

As far as the case goes, one insider tells us important UCLA officials met this morning and we're told "charges will most likely be dropped but [Diddy] won't be allowed on the field anymore."

8:15 AM PT -- More info on what led up to the confrontation ... sources tell us the drama began earlier in the day on Monday when Sal booted Justin from a conditioning session for "lack of effort."

When Diddy -- who was a once-a-week regular at UCLA practices -- heard about the situation, he was PISSED and stormed down to Alosi's office with Justin.

When they arrived, Alosi was on the phone and told Diddy and Justin to hold on -- which only made them more upset. Alosi told Justin he would speak with him ... but instructed him to get his father OUT of the office.

This only pissed Diddy off even more, according to BruinReportOnline.

Alosi reportedly had his hands up in a non-threatening way ... but Diddy "walked into Alosi's hand" ... and then warned Alosi not to put his hands on him.

That's when Diddy exploded and attacked Alosi -- interns rushed in to break it up. Diddy was pulled out of the office and into the connecting gym, where he picked up the kettlebell and swung.

Alosi reportedly suffered cuts on his face and a torn shirt.

Yelling and screaming can make your kids BETTER athletes ... so claims Metta World Peace who says he's very aggressive when he coaches because he thinks it's best for the players.

With Diddy allegedly attacking a UCLA football coach for being too hard on his son, we had to ask Metta if he feels coaches can go too far when it comes to verbal motivational tactics.

That's when Metta told us ... he not only supports "aggressive" coaching styles -- that's how he operates when he coaches his son's basketball teams.

"Every coach is different," Metta says ... "and when I coach my son, I curse my son out at times. I curse at other players ... only 'cause I want the best for them."

Michael Sam CFL Squad Will Welcome Him Back to the Team ... If He Wants

Published | Updated

Personal issues, schmersonal issues ... if Michael Sam wants to play football again, the Montreal Alouettes tell TMZ Sports they'll welcome him back with open arms.

Charles Rooke, a rep for the team, tells TMZ Sports they don't hold a grudge against Sam for leaving them earlier this month for "personal reasons," but they admit even they don't know the reason ... even now.

Rooke says, "I don't know what his problems were, so it's hard to say if he'll be back. If he wants to play football, we want to have him."

Sam signed a two-year deal with the team, so if he wants to come back in the next two years ... Rooke said he can do so in Montreal.

But Rooke did throw a little Canadian sass/sense of inferiority our way when he added, "It's not like our season is down the drain [without Sam]. Even the best players coming from down south experience a learning curve. The games are similar, but aren't identical."

We're also told the entire altercation is on video.

And get this ... we're told Diddy is referred to by the UCLA staff as a "helicopter dad" for hovering over practices.

By the way ... Alosi is infamous in his own right. He was a NY Jets coach who was suspended by the NFL in 2010 after tripping a Miami Dolphins player who was covering a punt.

4:00 PM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Diddy allegedly attacked the coach with a kettlebell weight. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon ... a felony.
