Ex-NBA ref Tim Donaghy tells TMZ Sports he owes his life to the leader of a white prison gang ... saying he would've been murdered behind bars if not for their protection.

Donaghy was infamously sentenced to 15 months of hard time back in '08 for his role in an NBA gambling scandal. While locked up, the ex-ref says he was brutally attacked by a fellow inmate.

"I was a target. There was a guy who took a paint roller extension pole and blasted me in the knee a few times," Donaghy tells TMZ Sports. "I had to have surgery to relieve the pain when I got out of prison."

The Donaghy says after the attack, he needed to find protection if he was going to survive his stint ... so he started to hang out with the only group that offered to have his back.

"Whites run together, blacks run together, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Italians."

Donaghy says the white gang wanted to initiate him with a prison tattoo -- involving a pin and ink from a pen -- but he managed to talk the guys into "option #2" ... a shaved head.

"It was a matter of me surviving, and getting the f**k outta there" ... Donaghy says.

T.D. says he owes his life to one of the leaders ... a guy nicknamed "St. Pete" ... "Thank God I teamed up with him. He saved my life. There's no doubt about it, I never would've survived if it weren't for St. Pete."

They've even maintained a relationship after prison ... "We've stayed in touch. Every now and then we'll talk on the phone. We even got lunch once."

An ex-NFL cheerleader has just pled guilty to raping a 15-year-old boy she spotted on Instagram ... and now could face up to 15 years in prison.

As we previously reported, 48-year-old Molly Shattuck -- who cheered for the Baltimore Ravens in '05 -- was indicted back in November for 2 counts of 3rd degree rape for incidents that took place in September '14.

Officials say Shattuck began seducing the boy back in May after she saw his picture on Instagram -- and first got physical with him in the back seat of her car in a middle school parking lot ... with kissing and touching.

But investigators say things escalated during Labor Day weekend ... when Molly seduced the boy at a rented beach house she was staying at with her own kids -- performing oral sex on him at least 2 times.

Now, we've learned Shattuck struck a plea deal with prosecutors in which she agreed to plead guilty to one count of rape in the 4th degree ... and could face up to 15 years in prison when sentenced in August.

The Chicago Blackhawks brought a 6-pack to the Stanley Cup celebration -- with defenseman Johnny Oduya ripping his shirt off in the middle of a nightclub ... in a crazy celebrity turn up!

Oduya -- along with teammates Corey Crawford, Brandon Saad, Kris Versteeg and Scott Darling -- hit up The Mid nightclub in Chicago ... where they used Lord Stanley's favorite piece of silverware to sip expensive bubbly, like so many have before.

And who was supplying the beats? World famous DJ ($32 millon a year famous) Tiesto -- who pumped the club full of EDM and hip-hop hits while the crowd went insane!

At some point in the night Oduya's shirt came off ... dude's got some championship abs.

Donald Trump's already got his first celebrity supporter ... Terrell Owens ... who tells TMZ Sports he fully supports his former boss' run for the presidency because "he won't put up with B.S."

T.O. -- who appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice" with Trump earlier this year -- says he gained a TON of respect for Trump during their time on the show and thinks D.T. could do great things for the country as the man in charge.

"This may be what the country needs and Trump ... he’s a guy who won’t put up with B.S. and has what it takes to change how government is run."

"With that being said, Trump ... YOU'RE HIRED"

Owens adds, "Plus, as the president, Trump would be able to say he knows me and he likes me ... LOL!"

Terrell says he's got no beef with President Obama -- and thinks he's truly helped change the country for the better -- but says moving forward, he likes Trump.

Floyd Mayweather is already trading shots with Gennady Golovkin ... telling TMZ Sports the guy's just running his mouth for a payday -- and he's way out of his league.

Golovkin -- who's knocked out his last 20 opponents -- told us Mayweather would be his "dream fight" and is 100% certain he'd win if they ever got in the ring together.

Now, Mayweather's camp is issuing a response ... saying, "Everyone in boxing wants to fight Floyd. It's the biggest payday they could possibly have."

"[Golovkin] has never fought a top opponent in his whole career ... we're surprised you guys would even have him on your show to be honest."

Donald Trump is already droppin' the sports metaphors -- comparing China to the New England Patriots ... and claiming their leaders are like Tom Brady!!!

During his "I'm running for President" speech moments ago ... Trump took several shots at the Obama administration and other U.S. political leaders.

That's when he dropped the Brady shot -- saying China's leaders are like Tom Brady and the U.S. is like a high school football team ... "They are ripping us!"

He went on ... "Our leaders don't understand the game."

The New England Patriots had the best Super Bowl ring ceremony ever -- a blowout party at owner Robert Kraft’s mansion!

Besides their new baller rings ... they also got to see superstar QB Tom Brady totally embarrass himself on the dance floor. Huge fun!

A small child was struck in the face with a bottle ... and appeared to be bleeding ... during the crazy Stanley Cup celebrations in Chicago last night.

The child -- unclear how old he is -- was carried to paramedics near Wrigley Field to be treated ... this according to the Washington Post.

So far, the kid's condition is unclear ... but it was just one part of the madness that took over the Windy City when the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup.

People swarmed the streets ... climbed traffic lights ... ripped down street signs ... and set off fireworks.

At least 5 people were arrested, according to the Chicago Tribune.

There's more ... in keeping with tradition, a bunch of fans toilet papered the home of Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville to celebrate.

She doesn't just identify as black ... Rachel Dolezal also identifies as a LeBron James fan!

Dolezal was walking through LaGuardia airport last night, where she touched down for her "Today" show interview -- when she was asked who she's got in the NBA Finals.

So, does liking LeBron make her more black? Or more white?

Floyd Mayweather has just been called out by the most dangerous boxer in the world ... Gennady Golovkin ... who says he's 100% confident he would crush Money ... if they ever got in the ring.

Triple G appeared on "TMZ Hollywood Sports" and told us a bout with Mayweather would be his "dream fight" -- if Floyd ever agreed to come up in weight and fight the 33-year-old phenom.

FYI -- Triple G is a BEAST in the ring ... having K.O.'d his last 20 opponents in a row!!!

There's more ... we also asked Golovkin about fighting Oscar De La Hoya, who recently told us he'd want to get in the ring with Triple G if he ever comes out of retirement.

Lamar Odom is taking the death of his best friend hard, and we're told the Kardashian family is worried it could push him back into the dark world of drugs.

We broke the story, Jamie Sangouthai -- who appeared on Lamar and Khloe's reality show -- died Sunday of an apparent OD. Jamie was with Lamar when the basketball star went on a crack binge 2 years ago, and it was common knowledge among their friends Jamie was fueling Lamar's addiction.

Friends of the Kardashians tell TMZ, the family -- and especially Khloe -- are hoping Lamar views Jamie's death as a wake up call so he'll swear off drugs forever. But our sources say the family knows the reality -- that Lamar has had trouble kicking his habit in the long term, and they think that Jamie's death could actually do significant damage to Lamar's psyche.

Khloe has taken no steps to move her divorce case forward with Lamar ... it's been dormant for more than a year, and the judge has threatened to dismiss the case outright. We're told they talk from time to time, although it's unclear if a reconciliation is in the cards.

How close are the New England Patriots??? Well, they don't mind swappin' a little spit ... 'cause they chugged champagne together at an afterparty ... and TMZ Sports has the pics.

After raging at the Super Bowl ring celebration at Robert Kraft's house last night, a bunch of the guys kept the party train rollin' to Cure Lounge in Boston -- where they raged 'til 2AM.

Among the partiers ... Gronk, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, LaGarrette Blount, Malcolm Butler and Jonas Gray.

But the most interesting part ... Tom Brady decided to tap out after the main party -- so his backup Jimmy Garoppolo represented for the QBs instead.

We're told the gang popped a $7,500 bottle of Belaire Rose -- Rick Ross' stuff -- and passed it around like blame in a Deflategate investigation.

When Dwyane Wade hit the books at Harvard last week, he probably had an edge on his fellow classmates -- 'cause one of the topics was his BFF LeBron James ... TMZ Sports has learned.

FYI -- Wade took part in a 4-day course called "The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports" ... which required him to live on campus, eat at the student dining hall and basically study his ass off for 4 straight days.

We're told Wade didn't coast through the course -- several Harvard faculty members tell us D-Wade was very impressive and had one hell of a work ethic.

Wade and his classmates were required to brush up on case studies on several high profile people and sports teams ... including Beyonce, Real Madrid and LeBron.

NFL superstar Brandon Marshall took the course last year ... and came back to speak to the 51 students in the class this year -- and today, he told "TMZ Hollywood Sports" what it takes to make the grade.

It's no joke ... Marshall says the course is super tough and super competitive ... but he also told us the #1 thing athletes should take away from the class.

Pay attention.

Dwight Howard's baby mama wasn't talking out of her ass with that whole "celeb kids have psychological baggage" argument ... this according to an expert in the field, Dr. Drew.

We broke the story ... a woman named Tiffany is demanding more child support from the NBA star -- and part of her argument is that her child will likely need expensive therapy sessions later on to "deal with the unique issues involved in being the child of a celebrity."

So, we asked Dr. Drew if there was any weight to her argument ... and he explained why it's "not totally unreasonable."

Drew acknowledged there is some added stress that goes along with being the child of a famous person ... but says it's not really a problem that money can cure.

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was inspired by Rachel Dolezal ... and even Caitlyn Jenner ... to step forward and reveal a huge secret of his own.

Kareem said, "I've decided to come out with the truth. I am not tall (#shortstuff)" ... in a Time article.

The absurd, and clearly tongue-in-cheek confession ... came in an op-ed piece Kareem wrote about Dolezal ... hours after her resignation from her NAACP presidency. Abdul-Jabbar added, "Although I've been claiming to be 7'2" for many decades, the truth is that I'm 5'8"."

Seriously though ... Kareem gives Dolezal props for all she's done for the black community, and suggests she should get a pass for her white lie -- or as he put it, "a Bill Clinton Get Out of Jail Free card."

Former British boxing champ Anthony Small -- who was 23-2 as a pro -- is on trial in England for allegedly trying to sneak off to Syria to join ISIS ... this according to the BBC.

The 33-year-old boxer was arrested in England along with two other men after authorities say they were trying to forge documents to illegally enter Syria.

Small and the two men have all been charged with engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts -- though Small DENIES the allegation.

Small most famously fought in "The Contender Challenge: U.K. vs. USA" in 2007 -- when fighters from the U.S. reality show "The Contender" flew to England to fight up-and-coming boxers, including Small.

Small defeated Walter Wright, who competed in Season 2 of the boxing reality show.

Small converted to Islam at the age of 24 -- and in 2012, he made a YouTube video in which he said he quit boxing because the sport took place in venues that Muslims are forbidden to enter because of gambling, alcohol and half-naked ring girls.
