Indianapolis Colts linebacker Erik Walden was attacked by his baby mama ... who slashed him with a knife and attacked his female companion with a baseball bat ... this according to the police report.

The story is insane ... cops tracked down Erika Palmer, the mother of Walden's children, after she allegedly went on a rampage in Georgia on Saturday night.

Walden told police Palmer had been waiting at their home around 11:30 PM with a baseball bat and gun.

Walden says he was able to wrestle the gun away from Palmer -- but during the incident, she bashed Walden's female friend in the arm, severely injuring her right elbow. Walden says she also trashed the house and stole his $35,000 gold Rolex watch.

Palmer left the home ... but later returned ... and another struggle broke out. This time, she allegedly slashed Walden in the left upper arm with a knife ... causing a 4 to 6 inch gash.

Walden says Palmer ran from the home. Cops say they tracked Palmer's cell phone and found her in a nearby Hampton Inn ... where she was arrested on 16 charges including aggravated assault, battery, burglary, theft and criminal trespass.

With Jerry Jones under fire for signing Greg Hardy ... Dallas Cowboys star Orlando Scandrick tells TMZ Sports he's excited about his new teammate -- saying, "I think he's a good player."

Of course, Hardy was found GUILTY of assaulting and threatening to kill his ex-GF last year ... but the charges were later dropped because the victim refused to cooperate with prosecutors after striking a financial settlement with the football star.

But when we saw Orlando out in L.A. Thursday, the superstar cornerback wanted to focus on Greg's performance on the field ... and clearly, he believes the dude can play.

For his part, Jones issued a statement on the signing ... saying, "We have spent a great deal of time over the last two days in meeting with Greg directly and gaining a solid understanding of what he is all about as a person and as a football player."

"Obviously a great deal of our study was dedicated to the issue of domestic violence, and the recent events that associated Greg with that issue."

Charlie Sheen just UNLOADED on President Obama -- tearing POTUS apart because he filled out an NCAA Final Four bracket ... and telling TMZ Sports, "We deserve better from our President."

Earlier in the day, Sheen had posted a tweet -- in which he rips Obama for making college basketball picks instead of attending funerals for soldiers.

"It's not cool," Sheen said ... "I don't care about the picks. I care about wasting that kind of time when the world is in the state it's in right now."

"We deserve better from our president ... and I demand it!"

Soooo ... Reggie Bush is in pretty good shape.

The SF 49ers running back showed off his physique on the way out of Heart & Hustle gym in West Hollywood ... an insane high performance celebrity training center.

On the way out, Bush showed off his $400k Lamborghini ... told us if he's going to Matt Stafford's wedding ... and talked about whether he could beat Colin Kaepernick in a footrace.

But the bottom line here ... dude's jacked.

No pants? No problem! So says Dayton basketball star Dyshawn Pierre who tells TMZ Sports ... his NCAA wardrobe malfunction was a KEY FACTOR in his team's big victory!

Pierre was playing Boise State when a teammate's foot got caught in his shorts -- and he was essentially "pantsed" for the whole world to see.

But Pierre tells us it was a MAJOR turning point in the game -- because Dayton was losing at the time ... and it changed the entire team's demeanor.

"It made everybody laugh!! I think it helped relieve some of the tension."

The team went on to win the game ... and Pierre says he spoke with his parents about the situation right after the final buzzer.

"They were more embarrassed for me than I was!"

The man who died in the Chris Johnson shooting is being laid to rest this weekend ... and the victim's family is selling shirts to help raise money for his mother ... TMZ Sportshas learned.

As we previously reported, Johnson's friend "Rollie" was killed in a drive by shooting earlier this month in Orlando, Florida. Johnson was struck in the shoulder, but survived.

Now, we're told Rollie's family is organizing funeral services for the 28-year-old for the weekend -- but we're told the situation has been especially tough (emotionally and financially) for his mother, Ms. Diane.

So, to help her out ... friends and family members have made shirts to honor Rollie -- and are selling them with the proceeds going to Rollie's mom.

We're told Chris plans on attending the funeral -- and is currently en route to Orlando.

As for the shooting, we're told cops are still investigating -- but no arrests have been made.

He was arrested for DUI and was fired from the Ravens ... but now Bernard Pierce has signed a NEW deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars ... and says it was all part of God's plan.

After Pierce was picked up by the Jags, the 24-year-old went to Twitter and said, "God works in mysterious ways."

The Jaguars claimed Pierce off the waiver wire -- despite the fact he's facing a 2 game suspension under the NFL's new personal conduct policy.

Just one month before Derek Fisher pulled the trigger on his marriage -- he was singing a completely different tune ... praising his wife as the love of his life ... that is, until something went terribly wrong.

Fisher filed divorce docs in L.A. Wednesday seeking to end his 10 year marriage to Candace -- but on February 19th, he was gushing about how much he LOVED his "beautiful wife."

"There are people in your life that are specifically designed, by God, to bring you closer to what your life is truly meant to be @mrsladyfish #myrib is that one person," Derek wrote on an Instagram post.

So what happened between February 19th and March 18th that caused Derek to have such an extreme change of heart???

Andre Drummond says he's 100% NOT dating famed escort Jenna Shea ... despite reports to the contrary ... telling TMZ Sports the rumors spiraled out of control after they posed for one innocent pic together.

FYI -- Shea is a legend in the escort world ... having been connected to all sorts of NBA stars, NFL stars and rappers ... and after pics surfaced with Drummond this week, there were rumblings they were hookin' up.

But the Detroit Pistons star tells TMZ Sports ... that's simply not the case -- "I'm not dating her. I was at a bowling alley and she took a picture with me and my friend."

Drummond says he knew who Shea was when she asked for the pic -- but says, "I just figured she wanted to take a picture."

For her part, Shea tells TMZ Sports Drummond is telling the truth -- adding, "He was a nice guy."

NY Knicks coach Derek Fisher has filed for divorce from his wife Candace ... just one month after they celebrated their 10 year anniversary.

Fisher filed the divorce docs in Los Angeles -- citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

The couple have two children together, twins ... including a daughter who suffered from a rare form of eye cancer. Fisher was famously let out of his contract with the Utah Jazz back in 2007 so he could spend more time with her and help her with treatment.

The divorce seems to be as amicable as these things get -- with Fisher asking for joint legal and physical custody of the children.

He also wants to split the legal costs.

Fisher issued a statement saying, "This is a difficult time for me personally. For the sake of our children, I ask that everyone respects our privacy during this process."

The tide may finally be turning for Pete Rose ... with a former MLB star telling TMZ Sports it's finally time to put Charlie Hustle in Cooperstown.

We spoke with former Atlanta Braves outfielder Andruw Jones -- 5-time All Star, 10-time Gold Glove winner -- who says it's about time the Commissioner finally LIFTED Rose's lifetime ban.

"It's all about what you did on the field, not off the field," Jones explained about the man who broke Ty Cobb's career hit record.

Of course, the debate has new life ... with the head of the MLB Players Association publicly supporting Rose, who just reapplied to be reinstated ... after he was banned from the game in 1989 for betting on baseball.

Rose has apologized and begged for forgiveness for decades -- but now it's all up to Commissioner Bob Manfred ... who has said he will "deal with [Pete's] request on its merits."
