Former Olympic hero Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to 5 years in prison for killing his girlfriend on Valentine's Day 2013.

Under South African law, Pistorius will have to serve at least 10 months before he can ask for parole.

In addition, Pistorius was given a 3-year suspended sentence on a firearms charge (unrelated to Steenkamp), but it was suspended for 5 years, so long as he's not found guilty of another crime where there's negligence involving a firearm during that period.

Pistorius had previously been found guilty of culpable homicide in the death of Reeva Steenkamp. He maintained throughout the trial he thought she was an intruder.

So, how the hell did surf god Kelly Slater pull off his insane 540 spin in Portugal last week???

The 42-year-old legend joined us on "TMZ Hollywood Sports" to explain ... telling us it wasn't just skill -- there was something in the air that day.

Patriots wide receiver Brandon LaFell cops to having a wardrobe malfunction -- wearing a shirt that says "F**k Statistics" around a bunch of high school kids this weekend ... and wants to apologize for what he calls an innocent mistake.

Parents at Lamar High School in Houston tell TMZ Sports they were in shock seeing the football star take the field ... to cheer on his alma mater ... with the the four-letter word across his chest.

But a rep for the wide receiver tells TMZ Sports ... Brandon wasn't trying to shock the kids -- he was just at home and "when he realized his high school was playing he shot out of the house" and forgot he was wearing the shirt.

"It wasn't a conscious decision to make a statement at all. If he could do it over, he would wear a different shirt." We reached out to the school to see if anyone complained, but so far ... no word back.

The good news -- Lamar High kicked the crap out of its opponent ... 56-14.

16 years after they tied the knot, Carmen Electra is telling all about her marriage to Dennis Rodman -- saying it was one of the most bipolar relationships she's ever been a part of.

Electra sat down with Oprah's "Where Are They Now?" ... and explained why she fell in love with Rodman back in 1998.

The woman who was allegedly attacked by L.A. Kings star Slava Voynov was injured so badly, she was rushed to the hospital ... where staffers called the cops on Voynov ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement tells us ... Voynov was actually arrested at the hospital in Torrance, CA around 1 AM Monday morning on suspicion of domestic violence.

We're told Voynov had accompanied the woman to the hospital -- and shortly after they arrived, hospital staffers called authorities to report Voynov as the person suspected of attacking the woman.

Our sources also ell us the woman claims she was in a relationship with Voynov.

Voynov was hauled to a nearby jail -- where he was eventually released on $50k bail.

Mike Tyson just posted a 10 minute preview of his new Cartoon Network TV show that's debuting next week -- featuring a drunk, angry, masturbating pigeon ... and it looks hilarious.

It's the first we've seen about the show -- called "Mike Tyson Mysteries" -- since it was previewed at Comic-Con back in July.

The drunk pigeon, voiced by Norm MacDonald, seems to be the breakout character. Jim Rash from "Community" also voices one of the ghosts.

The ep also features Mike singing a song called, "I Ain't Got no Time for Bird Sex."

Seems the L.A. Clippers are over that whole Donald Sterling thing -- because the team hit up a Vegas nightclub together Saturday night ... and even (playfully) hazed one of their rookies right on the dance floor.

It all went down at Tao in the Venetian -- where Chris Paul was the "celebrity host." But CP3 didn't come alone ... he was joined by teammates Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, J.J. Redick, Big Baby Davis and more.

There were bottles, there were hot ladies ... and there was a moment where the guys forced rookie C.J. Wilcox to get on the dance floor and turn up while the team cheered him on.

Not exactly Miami Dolphins-style hazing.

At one point, Big Baby grabbed the mic and led the crowd in a rendition of his single, "Big Baby Gon Turn It Up" ... and everyone loved it.

Rob Lowe became the handsomest piece of shark bait in the water this weekend -- when he gashed his leg open during a surf session gone bad ... and the blood came pouring out.

As you can see in the pic, Lowe ripped open his right knee -- but before he got stitched up, the guy posed for a Instagram pic ... with the blood still streaming down his leg.

In fact, 50-year-old Lowe was so impressed with his wound, he tweeted ... "The amount of blood that can unwantedly come out of one's body is amazing."

Hot.

Wrestling legend Ox Baker -- who famously battled Kurt Russell in "Escape from New York" -- has died at the age of 80.

Baker was awesome -- he wrestled with everyone from Hulk Hogan to Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka ... and even had a rivalry with "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

After he retired from wrestling, Baker got into acting ... landing the role of Slag in the famous gladiator-style fight scene in the 1981 classic "Escape from New York."

Baker also appeared on Jackie Chan's "The Big Brawl" and a weird sci-fi wrestling movie called "Blood Circus."

He also had one of the more famous appearances as a contestant on "The Price is Right."

War Machine penned a suicide note in his jail cell ... in which he paints himself as the victim as he recounts the night he brutally beat his porn star girlfriend Christy Mack within an inch of her life.

We broke the story ... War Machine tried to kill himself inside a Las Vegas jail cell last week -- a plan that was foiled by a corrections officer.

TMZ obtained a letter War Machine sent to a friend the day before his suicide attempt. It's shockingly delusional. He says after they broke up and got back together, "Something seemed different about you."

He then tries to justify the beating, by saying he was stunned when he discovered her infidelity, and saying "Finding what I found that night was devastating to me, more than you will ever know," adding, "not just the unfaithfulness, but the way u cared for him and protected him."

War Machine says in the note this time he'd let Christy's new boyfriend Corey Thomas beat him up -- because he believes she would have stopped the guy and kicked her new dude out.

He then sinks into a world of self pity ... "I still don't understand how I got into this mess. I don't know why this had to happen. My life was going so well." He then has the balls to say, "I forgive you, please forgive me."

War Machine is still facing 32 charges -- including attempted murder -- while he waits behind bars.

Miss USA has a helluva way to deal with creepy weirdos who try to get too touchy-feely with her -- SHE BEATS THEIR ASSES!!

Turns out Nia Sanchez -- the reigning Miss USA -- happens to be a 4th degree black belt in taekwondo ... who trained for more than 10 years!!

And when we saw her out leaving Cipriani Wall Street in NY this weekend -- she demonstrated how she uses her training when some guys try to get a little too close. She's kind of a bad ass.

Don't worry, the guy in the video isn't one of the creepers Nia's talking about, he happens to be her good friend.

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith has one MAJOR piece of advice for Katy Perry when it comes to playing the Super Bowl halftime show this year -- don't do what they did.

Of course, Smith is referring to the RHCP performance at the Super Bowl last year ... where the band pre-recorded it's performance (everything but the vocals) ... and pretended to play their instruments along with the music.

At the time, Flea said if he could do the whole thing over again ... he would do it the SAME WAY -- because he still felt like he was able to bring the "spirit of who we are to the people" despite the fact their instruments weren't plugged in.

But it seems Chad feels a bit differently -- even though he says he felt like it was still a "performance" -- he's advising Katy to "plug in and play" when she takes the stage.
