Washington Redskins Pocahontas Demands Name Change It's a Bad Message for Little Girls

Published | Updated

It might finally be time for the Washington Redskins to fall back in the war over the team name ... because Pocahontas herself is taking a stand, telling TMZ Sports everything about the organization sends a horrible signal, especially, to young women.

We didn't hold a seance -- the real Pocahontas died in 1617 -- but we did talk to Irene Bedard … and the voice of the Native heroine in 2 Disney movies is so pissed about the "Redskins" name, she said using it is like wanting to call yourself the n-word.

Irene, whose ancestry is Inuit, Inupiat and Metis ... told us she understands fans have pride for their team symbol -- but they don't realize the logo is also insulting 500 nations of native people.

In particular, she's really upset about some of the costumes the cheerleaders have worn through the years -- calling them over sexualized and "degrading" to proud Native American women like herself.

Irene added, "You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew you never knew."

She didn't, really ... but that would've been awesome. Who doesn't love "Colors of the Wind"?

NBA Player Stephen Jackson Ferguson Cop Dreamed of Killing a Black Man

Stephen Jackson has no doubt the deadly shooting of Michael Brown was the heinous action of a cop who harbored racist feelings and waited for the opportunity to kill a Black man.

Jackson, a 14-year NBA vet known for his community activism ... tells TMZ Sports the eyewitness accounts he's heard lead him to believe 18-year-old Brown's death at the hands of Ferguson PD officer Darren Wilson was fueled by race.

"You gotta be walking around holding on to that inside you. It had to be a dream of his to kill a Black man. Especially considering the head shots they say he fired."

Jackson says he's not surprised by the rioting because ... "When you lose someone like that it just reminds you of all the other people that you lost to this type of stuff."

He added ... the one positive he's observed is that it's not only Black people protesting. As Jackson sees it ... injustice is injustice, "It doesn't matter what race people are, they are going to react.”

Kurt Warner 7 Kids Go Hollywood! Making BANK Off Dad's Biopic

Ex-NFL great Kurt Warner's set to rake in almost a million dollars for a movie about his life, and he's sharing the wealth by writing his SEVEN kids into the deal.

FOX bought the movie rights to Kurt's biography "All Things Possible" a year ago, but since 5 of his kids are under age -- a minors contract has to be filed with the courts. Turns out dear ol' dad was very generous.

TMZ Sports obtained a copy of the contracts for Jada (13), Kade (15), Elijah (10), and twins Sienna and Sierra (8) -- and according to the docs ... they will split 25% of all salaries the family earns. Kurt and his wife Brenda's 25-year-old son Zachary, who suffered brain damage as a child ... also gets a 5% cut.

The other 70% will be split between Kurt, Brenda, and their adult daughter Jesse.

So far the family's only earned $135K ... a down payment for the movie rights. If FOX goes forward, and shoots the movie they'll get another $715K. The floodgates really open if the movie is a box office hit -- they'll get a bunch of bonuses, potentially as high as $200K.

The fight went the full 10 rounds and there was no question ... Mike Perez won. In fact, he beat Abdusalamov so badly, he ended up having brain surgery and suffered a series of strokes. He may never walk or talk again.

Abdusalamov's wife has sued Klitschko's company ... claiming the champ and his people should have stopped the fight when it was clear her husband was badly injured. She also claims there was a delay in getting him medical attention.

Klitschko's company has put a claim in to his insurance company ... to cover any judgment in the lawsuit, but the insurance company has now asked a judge to declare the policy ONLY covers injuries like sickness, disease or death outside the ring that would cause cancellation of the fight.

The insurance company says there's a specific exclusion from injuries resulting from the fight itself.
