How's this for a change ... Lance Armstrong is being PRAISED by law enforcement for trying to help cops catch a notorious bike thief -- and they're confident Lance can actually get results ... TMZ Sports has learned.

The city of Austin has been under attack from a bike thief who cops say has jacked close to 100 high-end bikes (some worth up to $5k) from 35 bike shops and homes in the area.

The Austin PD has reached out to the public for help -- and even put out an image of the main suspect captured on surveillance during one of the burglaries.

Lance heard about the investigation -- and retweeted a message from cops to his nearly 4 million followers to be on the lookout for the alleged bike-stealing scumbag.

Now, the Austin PD tells TMZ Sports they're stoked about the support -- with Det. Evonne McGuire telling us, "We are absolutely grateful to Lance for helping us out."

"The fact that he has so many followers, and not everyone watches local news -- we are hoping that people on social media will pay attention and help crack the case."

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick is NOT a single man ... so says his "Basketball Wives: L.A." girlfriend Draya Michele ... who tells TMZ Sports the breakup rumors are pure B.S.

Draya was out at Supperclub in Hollywood last night -- where she partied with Team USA soccer star Jermaine Jones -- and told us she's so deep into her relationship with Orlando, "I'm damn near married."

Rob Gronkowski's obsession with "she-pop" concerts continues ... now, the New England Patriots tight end hit up a Katy Perry concert n Connecticut ... and TMZ Sports has the footage.

A mohawk-sportin Gronk stood head and shoulders above the crowd at the Mohegan Sun show on July 7th -- the 3rd in a series of pop shows Rob has attended recently.

Back in June, Gronk rocked out at a Jennifer Lopez show ... and last week, he let loose at a Beyonce concert in Massachusetts.

Only difference between those shows and Katy Perry -- so far, we haven't seen any footage of Gronk dancing his face off ... like he did for Bey and JLo.

Judge Mathis delivered some tragic news to TMZ Sports on the streets of L.A. last night ... telling us his friend and fellow TV judge (and legendary boxing ref) Mills Lane had passed away.

Pap: Are you friends with Mills Lane?"
Judge: The LATE Mills Lane.
Pap: He passed away?
Judge: Yes.

We were so shocked by the news (since we hadn't heard of his passing before) ... that we called Lane's son to find out when the boxing legend had passed.

But this story has a happy ending because Lane's son told us ... MILLS IS ALIVE!!!!!!

Unfortunately, the 77-year-old Boxing Hall of Famer suffered a stroke back in 2002 that slowed him down a bit -- but he's still very much among the living.

Lane's son made a point to tell us that Mills really likes Judge Mathis -- thinks he's a cool guy.

Prince Fielder KNEW people were gonna have a strong opinion when he stripped down butt-naked and posed for the ESPN "Body" issue ... and now, Cuba Gooding Jr. has delivered.

Cuba -- who just revealed he's got a role in Ben Stiller's new show "Big Time In Hollywood, FL" -- took his first peek at the nude Texas Rangers big man while in L.A. yesterday.

Doesn't matter that he's gone from lineman to congressman ... ex-Eagles star Jon Runyan tells TMZ Sports he could still take former NFL rival Michael Strahan ... and gives a great reason why.

40-year-old Runyan was walking around Capitol Hill yesterday when we asked if he felt Strahan has "gone soft" since taking over morning host duties on "GMA."

Runyan's response is classic.

For the record, the two had a very heated rivalry on the field -- who can forget when Strahan ran him over in the 2000 NFC Championships -- but off the field, they actually had a ton of respect for each other.

In fact, Strahan has said Runyan is one of the top 2 players he ever faced ... ever.

Brazil's humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany wasn't just bad ... it might be the most EMBARRASSING thing that's ever happened to a World Cup team ... so says Piers Morgan.

The former CNN host -- and die-hard soccer fan -- was out at Madeo last night when he WENT OFF on Brazil ...

"The most incredible thing I've ever watched in my entire 49 years of watching football," Morgan said ... "It was like an abattoir. A footballing abattoir."

For the record, "abattoir" is a fancy French word for "slaughterhouse."

Colin Kaepernick's giant new tattoo took 27 long painful hours to complete -- over 3 days -- with one of the top celebrity tattoo artists in L.A. wielding the needle ... TMZ Sports has learned.

As we previously reported, Colin recently had biblical imagery symbolizing "money is the root of all evil" tatted on his left torso. Now, we've learned the guy who applied the tat is Carlos Torres of Timeline Gallery tattoo shop in L.A. ... an artist who's worked on huge stars like 50 Cent and Nas.

Torres tells TMZ Sports ... Colin initially reached out on Instagram to inquire about a session, after being referred through a friend.

"He sent me a drawing of his idea ... There was a lot going on so I simplified it. Not every piece of art makes a great tattoo, so I refined it so it'd be a great tattoo. But Colin came up with the concept."

Torres explains ... "We did three sittings. They were each eight, nine hours long. The side of the ribs are a painful area, but Colin laid there like a rock."

Torres wouldn't tell us how much Colin paid for the art work, but says he usually runs around $250 per hour ... and he still has a few hours of work left before Colin's tat is complete. So, figure CK's total bill will run upwards of $7,500.

4:50 PM PT -- The hearing is over ... and Donald was his usual unlikable self in the court room.

During the hearing, he trashed his wife Shelly ... saying, "It’s ludicrous to think she could run a corporation. She’s beautiful, but she can’t run anything”

He also called Shelly's lawyer a "smart ass."

Donald told the court he believes he could strike a BETTER deal than Shelly for the Clippers -- saying he could fetch between $2.5 and $5 billion for the team.

Cue the band ... Donald Sterling is finally in court to "face the music" in a Los Angeles courtroom.

Sterling snuck into the courthouse -- dodging reporters and photogs outside -- and took a seat for his trial to determine who gets to sell the Clippers.

Shelly Sterling is also in court. She did not hide as she silently walked into court earlier this morning.

Donald is expected to testify today ... after skipping day one of the trial. Shelly's attorney had called Donald out and claimed he was "on the run."

Forget "U Don't Have to Call" ... Cleveland Cavaliers part-owner Usher says he's absolutely down to get on the phone with LeBron James if it will help the team sign the NBA superstar.

Usher was hanging out at 103.5 KISS FM in Chicago today when he was asked if he would personally get involved in the recruiting of King James.

"I will say that I’m not too prideful to pick up a phone and make a call," Usher admitted.

Seems the people of Ohio are ready to let bygones be bygones when it comes to LeBron James -- with the senior Senator from the Buckeye State telling TMZ Sports he's ready for the King to return.

We spoke with Senator Sherrod Brown out in D.C. today ... where he told us he's "thrilled" about reports that LeBron is considering a return to the Cavaliers.

"I mean, I'd love to have LeBron back," Brown said ... "It's his home. It's where he grew up."

Richard Sherman is about to dominate another NFL opponent, 'cause his Seattle teammate Jeron Johnson tells TMZ Sports the Seahawks star is about to shut down the 'Madden Curse'.

Johnson was out at Boa in L.A. yesterday when our photog asked him the question -- will Richard succumb to the evil juju that surrounds the cover of the legendary Madden video game.

Jerry Sandusky's adopted son is finally going public about the years of sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of the former Penn State Football coach ... in an emotional interview with Oprah.

Matthew Sandusky sat down with Winfrey for a special for OWN that will air on July 17th -- and according to the network, he will reveal "never-before-heard details of the sexual abuse he experienced as a child at the hands of his adopted father, and why he is choosing to speak out now."

Matthew says the abuse started when he was just 10-years-old ... and at first, he thought he was the only victim.

Matthew also told Oprah, "At bedtime, his ritual began."
