CATCH OF THE YEAR?!?!?

NY Mets infielder Luis Guillorme showed off some insane hand skills when he caught the bat that flew out of the hands of a batter ... without even flinching!!

It all went down Thursday while the Mets were playing the Miami Marlins -- Miami's Adeiny Hechavarria took a hard cut and lost the bat which went flying at the Mets dugout.

Former Miami Dolphins & Cleveland Browns receiver Davone Bess will NOT go to jail after a 2016 incident that culminated in a standoff with the S.W.A.T. team ... TMZ Sports has learned.

The 31-year-old appeared in a Phoenix courtroom Thursday where a judge sentenced him to 1 year probation after Bess pled no contest to endangerment.

As we previously reported, the whole incident began last June when cops tried to pull Bess over for a routine traffic violation ... but he allegedly made a gun gesture with his hands and drove away.

Officials said Bess barricaded himself inside the home, brandished a knife and threatened to shoot officers. 27 cops -- including the SWAT team -- responded to the scene. He was finally subdued by a K9 unit that was deployed inside the home.

Bess hasn't played in the NFL since 2013.

A college football running back -- who had insane potential on the field -- has been arrested for rape for a 2nd time after an alleged incident with a student trainer ... TMZ Sports has learned.

21-year-old Kishawn Holmes was arrested on Feb. 22 in Los Angeles and has been charged with 2 counts of rape. We're told the victim is a 19-year-old female who was performing an athletic massage on Holmes before things turned violent.

Holmes was the starting running back at Cerritos junior college and after rushing for more than 1,100 yards this season -- he was considered one of the best JuCo backs in the country.

He'd reportedly received at least 7 offers following the 2016 season.

Thing is ... it's not the first time Holmes has been accused of rape. Back in 2013 -- when he was a top high school prospect -- he was arrested for sexually assaulting 2 different underage girls.

Now, he's being held in jail on $2 MILLION bail.

So, we spotted Terrell Owens in Bev Hills Wednesday ... just as he was spotted on the street by Hall of Famer Mike Haynes ... and what ensued was a pretty cool raw moment.

Haynes -- who was inducted into Canton in 1997 -- told T.O. he BELONGS in the Hall of Fame and explained that "guys who know" football, like Steve Young, have his back.

He also told Owens to keep his head up and hopes he gets in next year.

Le'Veon Bell knows all about the diss track game (he recently went after Skip Bayless) ... and now the running back/rapper is offering up some hip-hop wisdom for Nicki Minaj.

The NFL superstar joined the guys on the "TMZ Sports" TV show (airs Thursday night on FS1) -- where he also talked about how he feels about getting hit with the Steelers franchise tag.

The good news -- lots of money. Bad news -- he wants more long-term security.

The dude with the busted grill is Josue Ortiz -- who allegedly tried to steal tools from an open garage in Fort Myers, FL ... when he was confronted by the homeowener.

Unfortunately for Ortiz, the guy defending the casa was Brian Burch -- who's not only physically imposing, but also has wrestling experience and trains at the local GJJ gym.

Burch says Ortiz got violent with him ... so he proceeded to beat his ass.

After smashing his nose, cops arrived and arrested Ortiz ... who left a big, bloody stain on the driveway.

Burch is being hailed as a hero ... especially by his neighbors who say the beating will serve as a crime deterrent.

Michael Bisping says Georges St-Pierre is straight-up CRAZY if he thinks he'll be able to "stroll off the couch" after a 3 year break and beat him ... adding, "The guy's out of his f**king mind!"

Bisping was extremely complimentary of GSP's fighting skills -- "He was one of the greatest fighters this world has ever produced" -- but says the guy has no chance when they face off later this year.

Nancy Kerrigan says she's been kept WAY out of the loop by the producers of the new Tonya Harding movie ... telling TMZ Sports, "Nobody consulted me."

Caron Butler admits he was" extremely scared" during a "red alert" bomb scare while he was visiting troops in Afghanistan ... but praises the Army for keeping him safe and vows to go back.

Butler just returned from a trip to the Middle East with the USO -- and even watched the NBA All-Star game with soldiers in Afghanistan.

But a few days before the game, troops rushed in and moved Caron to a secure area after getting intel about a potential bomb threat.

"You could tell a lot of people was in like a extreme red alert," Butler says ... "I was extremely scared to say the least."

"But at the same time I knew I was in the good hands of the U.S. Army and they took great care of us over there."

Anastasia Ashley lasted 6 of 21 days in the jungle ... but called it quits after a nasty ambush by a swarm of sandflies ... while she was naked.

The pro-surfer/bikini model is currently in Belize after competing on season 7 of Discovery's, "Naked and Afraid." The new season kicks off Sunday on Discovery, but Anastasia's episode will be airing later.

She described the nighttime ambush that cut her stay short. Don't worry, the bites are healing and Anastasia expects to be bikini-ready ASAP.

Amar'e Stoudemire says his comments about not wanting a gay teammate in his locker room were SUPPOSED to be "taken as jokes" ... and he's sorry for offending the LGBT community.

"I want to apologize for my offensive comments against the LGBT community. These remarks were taken from a larger interview where a reporter was asking me hypothetical questions, and all my answers had a comedic undertone."

As we previously reported, Stoudemire -- who's playing pro basketball in Israel -- told a local media outlet he would "shower across the street" if he found out he had a gay teammate.

"The answers I gave were meant to be taken as jokes & I am deeply sorry for offending anyone."

Stoudemire continues ... "I am open to creating a dialogue to assist the fight the LGBT community encounters daily and will continue to focus on playing basketball."

UFC star Tyron Woodley says he beat Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson so badly during their fight back in November, the dude suffered a concussion ... and he should NOT be fighting at UFC 209.

Problem is ... Dana White says he's full of crap.

We spoke to Woodley on his way to Las Vegas for this weekend's fight -- and he told us straight-up, "[Wonderboy] should have had a 90 day suspension. It was was a tough fight. He had a concussion during that fight."

Woodley added, "Any other fighter who has a concussion, you are automatically awarded a 90 day suspension."

FYI, Thompson was never officially diagnosed with a concussion by a doctor and Dana White tells us Woodley's comments are off base.

"I'm gonna go ahead and take the advice of the best doctors in the country over Dr. Tyron Woodley," White tells TMZ Sports.

In an unrelated note, Woodley says his kids are following in his insanely athletic footsteps ... including his 2-year-old girl.

Ex-L.A. Lakers forward Devean George has a message for Amar'e Stoudemire -- APOLOGIZE!!

The 3-time NBA champ was clearly disappointed in Amar'e after he heard about the homophobic comments A.S. made to an Israeli media outlet.

"Come on bro, you can't do that," George told us ... "He's too old for that."

He added, "Obviously he should apologize but some people have their opinions and they believe in their beliefs so he can say what he wants to say ... but it's not a good look."

That's when Game said emphatically that he thinks Lonzo is NBA ready RIGHT NOW, as in forget the rest of the college basketball season, and the summer league.

Game's love for the Ball family is well known, he recently took the time to mentor the youngest brother, LaMelo, after the kid suffered a hard loss in the California high school playoffs.

"Nashville" star Hayden Panettiere might've just found a way ... telling TMZ Sports she'd totally bring Olympic champion Laura Kenny's life to screen in a biopic.

Kenny, a British track cyclist who's won four Olympic gold medals and a staggering SEVEN world championships, recently said she'd want Hayden to play her in a movie about her life.

We got Panettiere out at LAX, and asked her if she has any interest in the part and she gave the most promising answer you're gonna get from a Hollywood star ... "Tell her to call me."

BTW -- it's worth watching this video if for no other reason than to see Hayden try to carry the kid she has with Wladimir Klitschko. Daddy's a giant and baby's growing fast.
