We now know why Jose Fernandez's marital status was listed as divorced in his death certificate -- he wasn't even old enough to drink when he got married back in 2012.

Adrien Broner is high ... off life, telling TMZ Sports he's a responsible partier now ... "I don't drink no more."

We talked to Broner on his way out of Hollywood hot spot Le Jardin ... and as AB says, "y'all usually used to me coming out the club stumbling, but I don't drink no more. I'm sober. I'm partying sober."

It's good to see ... Broner's had his share of alcohol related drama in the past, including showing up to court drunk last year and a DUI in 2015.

But things seem to be lookin' up for the former boxing champ ... he won a fight last weekend, and he's sober.

Antonio Brown is in the cockpit of a jet ... thousands of feet in the air ... flying?!

AB put the video up on Instagram with the caption ... "Honor to fly my first plane."

A couple of things are unclear ... when the video was taken (wouldn't put it past AB to post from the cockpit, right Mike Tomlin?) and if the plane was on auto pilot or being manually flown.

Charles Oakley might not want to return to MSG after his beef with James Dolan, but that won't keep him from watching his Knicks ... sitting courtside as New York visited the Cavs Thursday night.

Oak -- a Cleveland native -- was invited to sit next to Dan Gilbert to have an up-close look at LeBron James and the defending world champs beat up on the struggling Knicks.

Oakley was temporarily banned from the Garden after getting ejected and arrested at the February 8 Knicks game. Dolan later lifted the ban, but Oak says he's not ready to return to the arena.

The Land has continued to show support for the former NBAer ... from making t-shirts to LBJ telling reporters, "Oakley for president."

Shaq's playful beef with NBA player JaVale McGee just went NUCLEAR ... with the two men vowing to fight each other ON SIGHT after a series of menacing and threatening tweets.

McGee's been a target of Shaq's 'Shaqtin' A Fool' segment on "Inside The NBA" for years, and apparently had enough when the broadcast devoted a whole segment to his on court screw-ups Thursday night.

JaVale took to Twitter and blasted O'Neal, asking Shaq to kindly get his umm, peanut emojis out of his mouth ... you get the meaning, right?

Shaq wasted no time firing back ... leveling a direct physical threat at the Warriors big man that had ZERO of O'Neal's trademark levity.

"@JaValeMcGee34 don't be acting like u a g I'll smack the s**t out yo bum ass u da one that be looking stupid with your dumb ass #bumass."

Shaq then doubled down, making the threat a promise saying, "we gonna see how tough you are when I see yo ass."

McGee and O'Neal's rift has threatened to get serious before, including a time JaVale called Shaq a "coon" -- a terrible racially charged insult to a black man -- on LIVE TV ... but it's clear that things have now gotten outta hand.

If Floyd Mayweather doesn't wanna get beat up, he should avoid running into Conor McGregor anywhere outside of a boxing ring ... so says Jay Glazer.

Glazer says there's a great chance Conor and Floyd's paths will cross while both are in L.A. ... and if that happens, it won't be a good situation for Mayweather.

Chandler Parsons is NOT in an official relationship with reality star Savannah Chrisley, despite reports to the contrary -- they're just "good friends."

TMZ Sports spoke with Chamique Holdsclaw, a former 2-time NCAA player of the year and 6-time WNBA All-Star who says Jameis was WAY OFF when he told elementary school kids that women are "supposed to be silent, polite and gentle."

"Young girls to be silent? That's not the way that I was raised," Holdsclaw told us.

"When I'm out there ministering to young girls, I'm telling them you gotta be your authentic self ... you can't be stuck in a box. You can't heed to traditional stereotypes of what a woman should be."

Prosecutors have dropped the felony gun charge against Ezekiel Elliott's best friend -- at least for now -- after he allegedly tried to bring a loaded gun into an Ohio bar this past weekend.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... Alvarez Jackson was arrested in front of the Park Street Patio bar in Columbus on Friday night. Ezekiel was spotted with cops during the incident but he was NOT arrested, detained or accused of any wrongdoing.

Jackson -- who's been described by Sports Illustrated as Zeke's "best friend" -- was facing up to 5 years in prison on the illegal weapons charge.

A spokesperson for the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney's Office tells TMZ Sports ... police have not provided them with a "felony file" yet -- so they had to drop the case.

A judge has signed off on the dismissal of the gun charge -- but we're told cops are still investigating and a felony indictment is still possible in the future.

Two NFL stars put their manliness to the test in Finland -- ICE SWIMMING IN 34 DEGREE WATER ... and TMZ Sports has the video.

Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams and Browns tight end Gary Barnidge made the leap at Loyly Helsinki ... where the outside temperature was a cozy 20 DEGREES!

The guys are in Finland as part of the American Football Without Barriers program which helps spread the game to other countries.

Detroit Lions star Golden Tate is DEFENDING Jameis Winston -- saying he understands the message the QB was trying to send to elementary school kids ... and it was NOT a sexist one.

"I personally understand what he was saying," Tate tells TMZ Sports.

"He's saying, 'Hey men, lead your families. Step up when you see something that's not going right. When you see someone abusing a woman or verbally abusing a woman or something like that, stand up.' That's all he's saying I think. I mean, I get it."

Tate says people should focus on Winston's bigger message -- that all kids can achieve their goals in life if they work hard enough.
