Tampa Bay Bucs running back Doug Martin just announced he's entering a treatment facility after violating the league's drug policy.

Martin just issued a statement saying, "I was notified last week of a four-game suspension for violating the league's drug policy."

The 27-year-old did not reveal which substance he tested positive for though NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the substance in question is Adderall.

"My initial instinct was to appeal the suspension and finish the season with my teammates. However, after numerous discussions with people close to me -- including Coach Koetter -- I am starting the suspension immediately so I can enter a treatment facility and receive the help I truly need."

"On the field, I must be strong and determined to push through both pain and injuries to become an elite NFL running back. Off the field, I have tried that same approach in my personal life. My shortcomings in this area have taught me both that I cannot win these personal battles alone and that there is no shame in asking for help."

"I sincerely apologize to the Glazer family, General Manager Jason Licht and the entire Tampa Bay organization, my teammates and our tremendous fans. This was not the season I envisioned and I have let everyone down, including myself. However, adversity yields opportunity and I ask for your support in my battle to overcome these personal issues."

Martin fell off big time in 2016 after a stellar 2015 season in which he rushed for more than 1,400 yards.

He missed 6 games this season due to injury but even when he was healthy he didn't play well ... only averaging 2.9 yards per carry.

LSU's football team showed what true teamwork is all about Tuesday night ... combining to devour over 4,000 buffalo wings during a team meal ... according to the restaurant's manager.

The Tigers are playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl against Louisville on Saturday ... and got into the spirit by hitting up a BWW in Orlando and tearing small fowl apart like Tigers do.

According to Baton Rouge Advocate reporter Ross Dellenger ... management at the restaurant said the Bayou Bengals tore up over 4,000 wings ... incredible.

99 guys on the LSU roster ... that means roughly 40 per man ... but you know the kickers ate less.

No word yet on whether or not Leonard Fournette ate with his team or elected to save his appetite for the NFL.

Ronda Rousey says she's laser-focused on crushing Amanda Nunes on Friday at UFC 207 ... and doesn't care about ANYTHING else ... the money, the media or her image.

We got video from the UFC of Ronda talking about her mindset going into the fight -- and she spells the whole thing out.

The hotline was set up as part of the new CBA between the league and the players ... allowing a salty hooper to call up and single out specific refs on bad calls they made in previous games.

We got Jefferson -- a former All-NBA player -- in D.C. and asked him if he thinks the hotline will make one damn bit of difference in the way the games are called ... and guess what, he doesn't.

2016 claims another victim ... this time, it's Phil Jackson's relationship.

The Zen Master just announced his engagement to Lakers honcho Jeanie Buss is officially off ... but the two are adamant they will remain friends.

"With mutual love and respect, we have decided to end our engagement," Jackson said in a statement.

"With the nature of our professional obligations and geographic distance between us, sustaining the relationship has been difficult. We have shared many wonderful moments through the years, and we expect to remain supportive of each other in the future."

Raiders QB Derek Carr seemed to be in pretty great spirits Tuesday night while recovering from surgery on his broken leg.

Carr -- who fractured his fibula during Sunday's game against the Colts -- was hanging out in the lobby of an LA hotel, his leg elevated on pillows.

Raiders owner Mark Davis was at his side, checking in on Carr ... from what we're told they have a pretty good relationship.

Carr ain't playing the rest of the season but says he still wants to help the team win -- meaning he'll probably hit film sessions hard with his replacement Matt McGloin.

Two NBA superstars and a movie star walk into a high school gym ...

Here's Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler enjoying their day off at a local Illinois high school hoops tournament Tuesday afternoon ... along with Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union.

The trio attended the Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament -- a 3-day competition between some of the area's top talent.

Unclear why they were there .. but witnesses say they seemed to be having a great time and all 3 signed autographs after the game.

Buffalo Bills star Marcell Dareus was in shock when he found out the team plans to sit QB Tyrod Taylor next week ... and it all went down on the "TMZ Sports" TV show.

Dareus was telling the guys how the team is handling the sudden departure of head coach Rex Ryan -- "It's not going over very well" -- when we asked about reports that EJ Manuel will start next week so the team wouldn't be on the hook for a FAT payout in case Tyrod got hurt.

The 2-time Pro Bowler had no idea about the QB change ... and couldn't believe it ... especially after Tyrod played so well last week.

DeAndre Jordan was involved in a car accident in Playa del Rey moments ago ... and while he appears okay ... another person was hospitalized, TMZ Sports has learned.

Witnesses tell us ... it all went down around noon. The accident involved 2 cars -- a matte black Tesla and an SUV.

Unclear what caused the accident ... but an ambulance, fire truck and police have responded to the scene.

The Clippers say Chris Paul was not involved in the accident -- but was nearby when he heard about the crash and came to the scene with Clippers staffers to check on his friend.

Another person was transported to a nearby hospital. The extent of that person's injuries are unknown.

Vince Wilfork's son has been booted from the University of Houston football team ... after the 19-year-old safety was arrested for having 381 grams of codeine in his car.

The Houston athletic department tells TMZ Sports, "We are aware of the situation and D’Aundre (Holmes-Wilfork) is no longer a part of the Houston Football program."

We're told this is a direct result of D'Aundre's arrest in Friendswood, Texas on December 21.
