Here's the deal ... with Trump reportedly down in the polls, our photog asked Newt if it's too early for Team Hillary to be "spiking the football" ... aka going into victory mode too early.

That's when Newt hit us with the deep NCAA response -- "The University of Wisconsin tried that once and lost in overtime."

Okay, fact is ... we were a little perplexed at first -- but after some inner-office detective work, we THINK he's talking about a 2013 game between UW and ASU.

Remember, the UW quarterback THOUGHT he spiked the ball with time running out to set up an easy game-winning field goal.

But the QB, Joel Stave, botched the play ... and ASU won (Go Devils!).

Look, Newt's trying to say it ain't over 'til it's over -- but this was way more fun.

Sorry for the reminder, Stave.

Lakers power forward Larry Nance Jr. is calling a foul on Major League Baseball ... saying they cheated the fans by not letting Charlie Sheen throw out the first pitch of the World Series.

We got Nance -- an Akron native -- out in L.A. at the Dew NBA 3X and asked what he thought about the MLB striking out efforts to get Sheen to throw out the first pitch in Cleveland ... as Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn.

Check out the clip -- Nance thinks it was a huge mistake ... saying the fans want it, the city wants it ... even going so far as saying IT'S MEANT TO BE!!!

Forget the fact it's been 108 years ... the Cubs have some NEW motivation to win the World Series -- FREE BOOTY DANCES!

Turns out, the good people at V Live in Chicago want to do their part to help the Cubbies beat the Indians -- so, they're making an offer that will hopefully get the bats going.

"If the Cubs win the World Series, they will have free lap dances forever," V Live owner Damon Cobb tells TMZ Sports.

"This is a very exciting time for Chi-Town."

Fun Fact -- The club had more than 1,300 women show up for the casting call before it opened up earlier this year.

Tom Brady was asked straight-up if he thought it was unfair that the NFL only suspended Josh Brown for 1 game for domestic violence ... when he was suspended FOUR for Deflategate.

His answer ... flaccid.

"I think it is the league’s issue,” Brady said while calling in to the Kirk and Callahan radio show Monday morning.

"Obviously, there is a lot of controversy with that. I’m trying to stay out of all that. I will let them handle it. I think that is their responsibility. I certainly don’t condone any part of domestic violence. I think it is a terrible, terrible thing. I think the league, they have to handle those types of things."

He added, "I’m just going to stay in my lane. Like I said, it’s up to them to decide whatever they want to do. I’m just going to try try and stay out of any kind of my opinion. I certainly have opinions, I just don’t really care to share them."

Brady did lash out on the general topic of domestic violence -- saying, of course, he does not condone it.

"Any type of abuse or bullying of people who can’t defend or fight for themselves, I have no respect for that."

NFL Fans in Detroit got more than they bargained for on Sunday when they saw a Redskins coach whip out his penis and urinate into a Gatorade cup on the sideline ... DURING the game!

The urinator is Washington's special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica -- who tried to sneak over behind a trash can and relieve himself during the 3rd quarter of the game.

Problem is ... the pee break went down right in front of a bunch of Lions fans who ALL saw the whole thing. The person who snapped these pics was at the game with her two minor kids.

One of the people in the group says Kotwica was the 2ND coach to expose himself and pee by that trash can during the game.

We reached out to the Redskins and a rep had no comment -- however, one team source tells us sideline pee breaks happen "all the time" with players and coaches and they always try their best to be discreet.

It's not about the money or the fame ... Tim Tebow says he's simply pursuing a baseball career for the love of the game.

Tebow appeared on "Good Morning America" in NYC Monday morning -- even though he's got a game tonight in Arizona -- and told Robin Roberts he's having a blast playing minor league baseball.

"I’m so passionate about the game and pursuing it and playing every day is just so much fun," Tebow said ... "It’s amazing when you do something for the love of it."

Tebow also opens up about how he bounced back after getting pushed out of the NFL -- "I’ve been told by a lot of different teams that I’m not good enough so how do you handle that?"

"For me, it’s to be able to have a foundation of something bigger than yourself, understand what God says about you, that you are important, that you have a life of significance and you have a life of meaning."

Good news for NBA TV's Kristen Ledlow -- cops have recovered the red Corvette that was stolen from her at gunpont ... TMZ Sports has learned.

The Atlanta PD tells us ... the incident all went down Saturday around 3:15 PM -- when Ledlow pulled up to her apartment complex and "2 black males who exited from a silver newer model sedan" were waiting for her.

Cops say one of the suspects pointed a gun at Ledlow and took her car -- a 2016 red Corvette.

Police were contacted shortly after the incident -- and cops used the vehicle's OnStar system to track down the car which was found 25 minutes after the robbery.

Lindsey Vonn -- who spent her birthday weekend traveling to Austin to see Lewis Hamilton race -- is once again insisting the two are just "friends."

Okay.

The two got close, once again, at the F1 Circuit of the Americas ... a race Lewis dominated from start to finish.

Remember, she spent her birthday on a bowling date with the guy last week ... and last year, she visited the guy at the British Grand Prix.

Plus, just look at the picture they took together over the weekend -- that look like just friends to you?

The catch, however, is that Lewis went on "Ellen" last week and insisted he's very single and VERY focused on his racing this year ... and won't let a relationship get in his way.

Floyd Mayweather and The Game are just the beginning ... Jamie Foxx says he's got some HUUUGE stars making surprise appearances in his new movie -- and revealed one right on the street.

NBA TV's Kristen Ledlow -- host of "NBA Inside Stuff" -- says she was targeted and robbed at gunpoint at this weekend by three men who were waiting for her at her home.

Ledlow didn't specify where the robbery took place -- but says the scumbags "stole my car, my purse, my wallet, my phone - and worst of all, my sense of security."

She also says the perps "knew who I was."

"While I will be taking a social media hiatus, I will not become a slave to fear. Thank you Jesus."

Gilbert Arenas' infamous $111 MILLION contract with the Washington Wizards is finally about to expire ... and Gilbert says he will be so poor, he won't be able to afford private school for his kids.

Gilbert signed the 6-year guaranteed contract back in 2008 -- but according to new court filings in his family law case, obtained by TMZ Sports, Arenas will get his last installment on October 31st (the contract was paid out over 8 years).

It was good while it lasted ... and Gilbert knew it when he spoke to our photog about the contract in 2013.

The problem, Arenas says ... is now that he's no longer getting NBA checks, he'll only earn $169,895 per year in investment income ... not enough to live the BALLER lifestyle he's used to.

So, Arenas says he has to make some serious cuts -- and one of the items on the chopping block is the private school where he sends his kids ... which runs $91,600 per year.

"I anticipate that the children will need to transfer to public schools in 2017 and beyond."

For the record, Arenas reportedly made more than $160 MILLION during his NBA career ... not including tens of millions in endorsements.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have officially signed off on their divorce, and all that's left is a judge's John Hancock ... TMZ has learned.

Khloe and Lamar have reached a property settlement and each has now signed legal docs that were filed Friday.

It's been an on-again/off-again process. TMZ broke the story, Khloe first filed for divorce in December 2013, but the divorce stagnated for almost 2 years while Khloe went back and forth, trying at times to save their relationship and save Lamar.

After Lamar ODd and almost died a year ago, Khloe dropped the divorce, but refiled this year after it became apparent to her Lamar would not swear off drugs and alcohol.

Under California law, she has to wait 6 months from the time of filing to get a sign off from the judge, which won't happen until December.

But unless something radical happens, they will be single before the end of the year.

Scottie Pippen butchered "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" in fantastic style Saturday night during the Cubs game.

Someone clearly without a clue handed Scottie the mic during the 7th inning stretch, and what happens next is just amazing.

Steph Curry knows a good product needs a good hype man ... so he tapped French Montana to pump up the crowd for the launch of his new kicks.

Ryan Lochte's lawyers got a double whammy in Brazil -- a judge denied their request to have HIS criminal case dismissed ... then transferred the case to a higher court.

A rep for the Court of Justice tells TMZ ... a Rio judge kicked Ryan's false police report case up to the public Ministry of Justice, which will now begin figuring out how hefty of a fine to drop on Lochte.

A court rep tells us the Ministry will most likely hand down a fine in excess of the $11k fine Lochte's teammate, Jimmy Feigen, paid to set things right with prosecutors. The decision is expected as early as next week.
