"Modern Family" star Ty Burrell ain't messin' around when it comes to his beloved football team ... saying if it comes down to the Rams gettin' a W ... or winning an Emmy, he's blue and gold all day.

NFL safety Chris Clemons has been charged with assault after he allegedly knocked out a woman outside a Scottsdale club in May ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Clemons -- who last played for the Arizona Cardinals -- was accused of punching a woman in the face after she got into an altercation with one of his female companions.

Cops spoke to Clemons at the scene -- but didn't realize he was the guy they were looking for, so they let him go. The strange interaction was captured on a body camera.

According to court records, Clemons was charged with assault causing physical injury -- a misdemeanor that could land him in county jail for up to 6 months.

Just ask one of the best boxers in the world -- WBO Junior Featherweight champion Nonito Donaire -- who's training the NBA superstar how to throw dem hands.

TMZ Sports talked to Donaire -- who's fighting Jessie Magdaleno on November 5th -- about footage we obtained showing Klay getting an impromptu training sesh recently at Top Golf in Vegas

It's good news, bad news for Thompson ... who Nonito says has tons of natural athletic ability. So, what needs work? Hint, Klay ain't Mike Tyson ... yet.

TMZ Sports has video of the Oklahoma City Thunder star busting out R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" at a Florida water park earlier this summer and we gotta say ... dude's got some golden pipes.

Tommie Smith ... one half of the iconic Black Power demonstration from the '68 Olympics ... says he's done watching James Woods movies ... 'cause Woods called Colin Kaepernick a "dirtbag."

Woods has been all over Kaep -- and the NFL -- telling our cameras he's boycotting the league for it's refusal to discipline the 49ers QB over his national anthem protest.

But it's Woods' name-calling of Kaepernick on Twitter -- where he called Kaep a "piece Of S@#t" and a "dirtbag" -- that has Smith steaming mad.

Of course, Smith and fellow sprinter John Carlos are the OG's of the sports protest game ... creating an iconic image at the '68 Olympics in Mexico by raising their fists in the air for Black power.

TMZ Sports spoke with Smith and he told us the personal insults aimed at Colin aren't fair ... and because of them, he can no longer support Woods' movie career.

"James Woods used to be one of my favorite actors ... but if he thinks he is dirt because of what he did then I am crossing him of my list because he is wrong."

Smith went on to say he totally disagrees with Woods' view that Kaerpernick's protest is disrespectful ... and is urging the Academy Award nominee to take a hard look at the issues.

Word to the wise ... DON'T ask Dikembe Mutombo to sing ... and DON'T try to duet with him on the street ... 'cause it'll lead you down a path that ends in ... FINGER WAVE HUMILIATION.

Mount Mutombo was out in NYC when one of our more adventurous camera guys asked him if he'd ever use that legendary bass voice to kick off a singing career.

CM Punk may not be the last WWE star to get his shot in the UFC ... 'cause Octagon star Alan Jouban is saying he wants his crack at a wrestling legend ... 7'0", 440-pound Big Show.

Jouban is 6'0" tall and fights at 170.

We got the (very brave) UFC fighter out in L.A. and asked him if there was any WWE star he'd like a shot at ... since Mickey Gall made such short work of Punk.

Cleveland Cavs star Iman Shumpert has been hit with charges stemming from his arrest last month in Georgia ... TMZ Sports has learned.

As we previously reported, the 26-year-old guard was pulled over outside of Atlanta on August 10th for a lane change violation.

Police say they did a field sobriety test and determined Shumpert was high. Cops also found a mason jar of marijuana in the car.

According to court records, obtained by TMZ Sports, Shumpert was charged with DUI (drugs), marijuana possession (less than an ounce) and failure to maintain lane -- all misdemeanors. He was also hit with a few traffic citations.

L.A. Rams safety T.J. McDonald just took a hit ... the L.A. City Attorney's Office is charging him with non-alcohol related DUI ... TMZ Sports has learned.

As we previously reported, the 25-year-old was arrested on May 10th after crashing into a parked car. Law enforcement sources tell us they believe medication was involved.

The City Attorney charged McDonald with one count of driving under the influence of drugs. Still no word on what the drug or drugs.

He's facing up to 6 months jail time if convicted -- but it's extremely rare for a first-time DUI offender, like McDonald, to get locked up.

Neither the NFL nor the Rams have disciplined him yet.

Colin Kaepernick's getting some lyrical support from Iman Shumpert ... 'cause the Cleveland Cavs star just released a brand new rap track where he pledges to join Kaep in taking a knee.

Shumpman just dropped a new song on SoundCloud called "His Story," where he spits about Kaepernick's protest ... vowing solidarity with the 49ers QB.

Listen for yourself -- Shump gets into other topics including his arrest and his fiancee Teyana Taylor ... but on the subject of Kaep he makes it clear "damn right I'm taking a knee for the anthem"

Washington Redskins rookie Su'a Cravens is about to find out why he should NEVER ignore his mom's phone calls ... even if she's a fan of his team's rival.

Cravens told reporters earlier this week that he was preparing for his first matchup with the Dallas Cowboys by shutting down all communication with his mom -- a DIE-HARD supporter of America's Team.

Yolanda Cravens -- who admits she's slowly transitioning into a 'Skins fan -- tells us there will be consequences for Su'a's antics if the Redskins aren't victorious.

"If the Cowboys win, he has to wear something Cowboys. I don't know, they might throw tomatoes at him if he does that."

As for the Redskins drafting Su'a ... Yolanda says there's only one team she REALLY didn't want to select him ... and her reaction is hilarious.

The L.A. Rams are eating like they're New England Patriots, even if they're not scoring like them. Yet.

The Cousins Maine Lobster food truck rolled up to Rams practice on the Cal Lutheran University campus in Thousand Oaks and shelled out $4,000 worth of lobster to the players.

Seems like the team's already going Hollywood, since even their food has to be famous now. The owners of Cousins Maine struck a deal on "Shark Tank" with Barbara Corcoran.

The Rams have their home opener in L.A. this weekend, and they'll be fueled up on lobster tots, lobster grilled cheese, and lobster rolls.

Probably won't be enough to help 'em upset the Seahawks, but at least they got some good grub.
