Chris Brown Refuses to Stand for National Anthem ... On 9/11
Chris Brown joined the National Anthem protest Sunday -- the occasion was a charity basketball game ... and 9/11.
Tank, who sang America's song, urged the crowd -- even those who would otherwise protest -- to stand in honor of the 3,000 people who perished during 9/11. Brown, who planted himself on the hardwood, was immovable. He laughed with friends as people around him stood.
Brown seemed impressed with Tank's performance, which kind of misses the point.

In a new video released by the league, NFL greats from Jerry Rice to Kurt Warner lend their voices in support of the game and The United States. Rice and Warner seemingly lead the cause, but are backed by several others, including, Tyrann Mathieu, Terrell Suggs and Willie McGinest.
Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the attack and also the first NFL Sunday of the season.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman Real Interest In Tebow 'Can't Deny There's Potential'
Tim Tebow came a lot closer to following in the footsteps of Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle than we thought ... because Yankees general manager Brian Cashman tells TMZ Sports the team gave real consideration to signing the ex-NFL star.
"We certainly thought a lot about it," Cashman tells TMZ Sports ... "there’s a lot of characteristics about his reputation and character that are really attractive."
In fact, Cashman says the Yanks sent TWO scouts to Tebow's MLB workout in L.A. last month.
Of course, Tebow ended up signing a minor league contract with the NY Mets -- and Cashman says he thinks the guy could have real value as a baseball player down the road.
"He’s a legitimate athlete, no question about it. So you can’t deny there’s potential, something there. But it’s an uphill battle."
Cashman makes it clear he has nothing but respect for Tebow -- but explains why the Yanks ultimately decided he wasn't the right fit for pinstripes.

NHL legend Jeremy Roenick says Colin Kaepernick's National Anthem protest is "pretty disgusting" -- and he believes coaches should be allowed to bench players who follow Colin's lead.
TMZ Sports spoke with Roenick specifically about NHL coach John Tortorella -- who's also coaching Team USA in the upcoming World Cup of Hockey.
Tortorella recently warned his players if they sit during the National Anthem, they will sit for the entire game. Some people are pissed ... Roenick is NOT one of them.
Roenick says the issues that Kaep is trying to spotlight are important -- but he needs to find another way to make his point without disrespecting the flag and the country.

Robbie Lawler has pulled out of his big fight against Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone at UFC 205 in NYC ... TMZ Sports has learned.
Unclear why Lawler backed out of the Nov. 12th fight at Madison Square Garden -- we're working on it.
We're told Cowboy will still fight and the UFC is currently looking for a new opponent.
34-year-old Lawler last fought at UFC 201 back in July -- and lost the UFC welterweight championship belt to Tyron Woodley in a 1st round knockout.
Tre Mason Arrest Warrant Issued ... Again
More troubling news for Tre Mason -- another arrest warrant has been issued for the L.A. Rams running back after he failed to show up for a mandatory court appearance ... TMZ Sports has learned.
Mason was ticketed for driving with a suspended license on August 13th in Palm Beach, FL and was told he needed to appear before a judge on September 7th.
According to court records, the 23-year-old was a no-show ... so the judge issued a warrant for his arrest. When he turns himself in, his bond will be set at $2,000.
Mason's family has expressed serious concern for the NFL star's mental health over the past few months -- and have tried to get him help.
Mason's mother has previously told police her son hasn't been well since the end of the 2015 NFL season -- blaming multiple hits to the head sustained during his football career.

In fact, Moeller says Tebow received real offers from ball clubs even before his MLB showcase on August 30th.
