Johnny Manziel's dream of playing for the Dallas Cowboys just got a huge endorsement from NFL legend Dan Reeves, who tells TMZ Sports "I’d love to see him get that opportunity."

Reeves -- who made a record 9 Super Bowl appearances as a player and coach -- says the troubled QB deserves another shot in the league, as long as he's focused on football.

“No question, I think he would be good for anybody," Reeves tells TMZ Sports. "He’s still gotta learn to walk the walk and talk the talk ... but if he can play like he did in college, I don’t see how that would be a bad addition to the team.”

"He needs to get his life in order before he thinks about football and he’s had a lot of things going on that have taken his mind from the game ... but if he puts all that behind him and has someone to mentor him, I’d love to see him get that chance."

UFC champ Tyron Woodley watched the TMZ Sports video of Nick Diaz going off about a possible fight for the belt -- and says one thing is clear to him ... Nick's an idiot.

Woodley joined the guys on the "TMZ Sports" TV show (airs Monday night on FS1) and clapped back at Diaz ... saying he was trying to COMPLIMENT the guy as a great fighter to set up a big money fight.

But Woodley says Diaz took the message the wrong way -- "He made no sense."

"It just shows you his I.Q. outside of fighting is not extremely high."

Woodley says Diaz may have blown his shot at the title -- and hinted that he's closer to locking up a fight with Georges St-Pierre.

Ex-NBA star Amar'e Stoudemire got waaaay more than a gold watch at his basketball retirement party ... but it wasn't enough to keep him retired, 'cause he came back to hoop just days after his shindig.

The guys over at Haute Time threw the party for Stat in NYC Sunday night ... inviting 50 friends and family members to celebrate the end of the big man's decade-plus basketball career.

They didn't show up empty-handed either ... Amar'e got some baller gifts, including a painting of "Black Jesus" by artist Bradley Theodore ... and a custom bottle of fancy tequila from Avion.

Here's the thing ... Amar'e basically un-retired THE NEXT MORNING ... signing a 2-year contract to play with Hapoel Jerusalem ... a pro team in Israel that he happens to co-own.

Nick Diaz is FIRED UP -- telling TMZ Sports he's still the BEST FIGHTER in his weight class ... and he's down to fight Tyron Woodley ... or ANYONE the UFC throws at him, if the price is right.

Woodley called Diaz out after he beat Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 this weekend -- and now that Diaz finished his suspension and can fight again ... Nick says he's ready to take on the world.

"I want to fight the best guy. I always want to fight the best guy. The thing is I'm on top ... I'm the one on top ... they're dropping MY name."

"I don’t need no fake ass piece of plastic. F*** that! I made PPV without a title. I don't need that fake ass plastic to be somebody."

For what it's worth, we're told the UFC is gunning to get Diaz a fight quickly -- but we're told the name being thrown around is Robbie Lawler.

It drives some golfers crazy ... but newly crowned PGA champ Jimmy Walker says the whole "Baba Booey" thing doesn't bother him one bit.

In case you're in the dark, Howard Stern fans have made it a point to shout "Baba Booey" after golfers rip their tee shots at major tournaments all over the world.

Earlier in the weekend, Graeme McDowell dropped an F-bomb after someone "booey'd" him at Baltusrol. He later apologized.

Some tournaments have threatened to boot fans who shout the catchphrase.

But Walker says he ain't worried -- and explains why.

The woman is Cassandre Davis -- a Florida-based fitness model who's racked up more than 500k instagram followers due to her ass-centric workout videos.

TMZ Sports has obtained the police report from Tre Mason's encounter with police on July 23rd -- which details strange behavior, a violent outburst and more evidence of mental illness.

We broke the story ... cops in Palm Beach, FL had visited the NFL running back 5 times in 4 months after his family reported a string of bizarre behavior, concerned about his mental health.

Now we know more from the July 23rd incident -- and it's clear he's not in good shape.

According to the report, filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office ... cops say Tre's mother had called because her son was "acting unusual and making irrational statements."

When Tre saw the cops, he threatened to call the White House and have them all fired -- and made bizarre statements about Al Qaeda ... so says the report.

Upon inspection, cops noticed a hole that had been punched in the wall of Tre's bedroom and a broken vase and lamp. Tre also had a cut on his hand, but was refusing medical attention.

The officer who filed the report made it clear Tre was in no position to make decisions on his own.

"I believe that Trence does not have the [redacted] ability to make decisions at this time and therefore he was transported to [redacted] where he was treated for the laceration and admitted for evaluation under the [redacted]."

Mason was a no-show at L.A. Rams training camp -- and head coach Jeff Fisher says the running back hasn't spoken with anyone in the organization since 2015.

He breaks up fights in the Octagon, but UFC ref Herb Dean says there's no way in hell he's breaking up fights in the street!

Dean -- considered by many to be the best ref in MMA -- was at LAX when we asked if he's ever seen a real-life brawl and felt compelled to get involved.

The short answer -- HELL NO.

"If I see a fight in real life, I'm running in the other direction," Dean said.

"I've walked by street fights ... and somebody watching will recognize me and say, 'Hey Herb' ... I'm like, 'I'm a professional, this is amateur!'"

NHL superstar Evander Kane just pled not guilty to charges he got physical with several women at a Buffalo bikini bar back in June ... and says VIDEO evidence will prove he did nothing wrong.

The Buffalo Sabres star was arrested earlier this month -- after officials say he got violent during a night at Bottoms Up bar on June 24th.

According to media reports, Kane allegedly yanked one of the women by the hair and grabbed her throat while pushing her into his car.

The bouncer tried to break it up and Kane put his hands on him too. The entire incident was reportedly captured on security video.

But on Monday, Kane went before a judge in Buffalo City Court ... and pled NOT GUILTY to criminal trespassing, harassment and disorderly conduct.

If found guilty, Kane faces up to 90 days in jail ... however, first time offenders are rarely locked up, according to the DA.

Kane is due back in court on September 9th.

J.R. Smith went the Toby Keith route at OVO Fest in Canada this weekend -- proceeding to party his face off with a red solo cup ... and he looked super turnt.

Smith was with former Cavs teammate Dahntay Jones and French Montana at the festival in Toronto -- sippin' something while sitting at a private VIP area in the middle of the Air Canada Centre.

Draymond Green should NOT have to face NBA discipline over his penis pic mishap over the weekend ... so says Shannon Sharpe who says the public shaming is punishment enough.

Green has already apologized for accidentally putting his junk on Snapchat -- he claimed he was trying to send a private message but "kinda hit the wrong button" and unleashed it to the world.

Sharpe says he feels bad for Green's family ... for having to try to explain the situation to their friends.

The mother-in-law of Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has been freed from her kidnappers -- UNHARMED -- and without having to pay the $36 million ransom ... cops say.

According to local media outlets, Brazilian officials say a police operation went down over the weekend -- and 2 suspects were arrested ... after cops traced them to a house in a poor neighborhood near Sao Paulo.

Officials say they were able to trace the location of the phone calls when the suspects were making ransom calls.

Cops launched a rescue mission and freed 67-year-old Aparecida Schunck after 9 days in captivity.

After she was released, Schunck told the media -- "I only ask for these bandits to be jailed so they can't abduct anyone else in Sao Paulo."

Schunck says she had been tied up -- but other than that, she was fine.

Ecclestone married Schunck's daughter, Fabiana Flosi, back in 2012.

Serena Williams has absolutely NO DAMN SHOT to beat a top men's tennis pro ... that's according to tennis legend Billie Jean King ... who says Williams would go down hard to any of the elite guys.

Billie Jean King is a TITAN in women's sports -- most notably for pummeling Bobby Riggs (who was 55) in a co-ed tennis match dubbed the "Battle Of The Sexes" back in 1973.

We got King out in L.A. recently and wanted to know if the seemingly unbeatable Serena would fair as well against an active men's pro, as King did against Riggs.

Cleveland Cavs forward Dahntay Jones added a ring in June ... but lost 400 kicks in July ... 'cause more than 200 pairs from his prized shoe collection were just auctioned off ... and he's PISSED.

Jones kept 208 pairs of rare Nikes in a storage facility in Atlanta for years ... but not just any old kicks, some of the shoes were ultra-rare ... including sample kicks made especially for Fat Joe.

But the facility claims Jones didn't keep up on the payments, so last week, they auctioned of the contents ("Storage Wars" style) ... and the winning bid was around $4,000.

We spoke with Jones who admits he was late on his payments -- but says it was a simple mix-up that could have been easily corrected without having to unload his sneakers.

Jones says his credit card stopped making payments to the facility due to a possible fraud alert (it happens sometimes) ... but says he contacted the facility and told them he would come up with the cash (he's reportedly made $18 mil in the NBA).

Jones says the facility went ahead with the sale anyway ... and now, he's out 1/4 of his beloved shoe collection. He's considering legal action.

By the way, Jones says the outstanding bill was LESS THAN $400.

As for his ex-kicks ... the new owner says he plans to sell them on eBay .. and we're told they'll probably fetch a hefty return.

12:20 PM PT -- LVMPD says Roger has been located by family members ... he's safe and is currently being monitored. We're told cops are trying to figure out where exactly he went.

As for Floyd ... sources close to Mayweather tell us the boxer was in Toronto on vacation with his kids ... and is on his way back to Vegas to check on his Uncle.

Floyd Mayweather's Uncle, Roger Mayweather -- one of the most famous boxing trainers in the world -- has gone missing ... and family members are concerned, saying he needs his medication as soon as possible.

Roger was also a pretty good boxer ... and battled with some pretty big starts, including Julio César Chávez and Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini.

The LVMPD has issued an official missing persons alert ... saying Roger was last seen Saturday afternoon near the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas.

He's 5'7" and 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue sweatpants, and white shoes.

Cops also believe Roger is suffering from health issues, and needs medication.

Cops say anybody with information should go to police ASAP.
