NFL's Tre Mason Pleads Not Guilty ... But Warrant Still Active

Published | Updated

L.A. Rams running back Tre Mason just pled not guilty to all charges in his reckless driving case ... but he's still a wanted man.

So, how does that work?

We've learned ... Mason's attorney entered a plea on the NFL player's behalf in court Thursday, Tre was NOT there himself.

So, the warrant -- which was issued after Mason blew off a previous court hearing -- is still active, according to Broward County Court.

As we previously reported, Mason is facing several charges -- including weed possession, reckless driving and resisting arrest stemming from a March 5th incident in Florida.

Cops say Mason was such a pain in the ass, they had to use the TASER to take him into custody.

PADS ARE NO GOOD

When it comes to protection, headgear and padded gloves can actually make things MORE dangerous for an MMA fighter ... so says UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

We were asking Joe about the recent death of MMA fighter Joao Carvalho -- who died following an MMA fight this weekend -- and if adding extra layers of padding could help prevent tragedies like this in the future.

While Joe said he didn't know about the specifics surrounding Joao's death, he made it clear he believes more padding is NOT the answer.

"It's actually better to have no pads," Joe said ... "You'll take less brain impact than with pads."

When asked specifically about forcing fighters to wear headgear during a match, Rogan says he wasn't keen on that either -- "There's actually an argument that wearing headgear is worse."

Joe explains more in the clip ... and says the bottom line with Joao is that his death is a tragedy.

Denver Broncos Owner's Son Found Guilty In Bizarre Domestic Violence Case

Published | Updated

The son of Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has just been found guilty of harassment in a bizarre case in which he claimed to be "the blood of the city" of Denver.

As we previously reported, John Bowlen Jr. -- who worked for the team -- was arrested back in June '15 after allegedly shoving his girlfriend in his Denver-area apartment during a domestic dispute.

John's GF called 911 -- but the call was cut short (the last thing the operator heard was a woman screaming) ... and when the operator called back, Bowlen went on a bizarre rant and referred to himself as the "blood of the city."

John was charged with harassment and telephone obstruction -- but denied the allegations and took the case to a jury trial.

But today, court officials tell us, "domestic violence was proven" -- and Bowlen was found guilty on one court of harassment.

He was sentenced to 2 years probation and 24 hours of community service. Bowlen was also ordered to domestic violence, mental health and alcohol evaluations and treatment.

If he violates the terms of his probation, the judge said jail will be imposed.

Bowlen's attorney has said his client will appeal the ruling.

THEY WON'T LET ME IN

Not every ex-Laker had a glorious Wednesday night ... 'cause Kobe's former teammate D.J. Mbenga was straight DENIED from a Hollywood nightclub ... moments after watching the Mamba's last strike.

It went down at Warwick where D.J. -- who was on court to hug Kobe after the finale -- wanted to get a little turnt up after a perfect night in Laker land.

That turn up never happened ... D.J. and his crew were left standing outside the party although he was still in good enough spirits to talk to our photog ... and flash his NBA championship ring.

BTW ... we asked the bouncer why he Mutombo'd Mbenga ... he told our guy "D.J. showed up with 5 dudes AND because I'm a Warriors fan! I'm celebrating 73 wins over here tonight!"

Cold, cold world.
