Derek Jeter YES, I'M ENGAGED TO HANNAH DAVIS

Published | Updated

It's the end of an era ... NY Yankees superstar Derek Jeter is officially (almost) off the market for good -- confirming he is in fact engaged to S.I. swimsuit cover model Hannah Davis.

Jeter revealed his relationship status in a blog on "The Player's Tribune" about his dog -- writing, "He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up."

See what he did there? He casually dropped the term "fiancee."

And just like that ... the greatest bachelor in the history of bachelordom is hanging it up.

Congrats.

College Football Player Death Threat Was 'Just a Prank' ... Says Player's Dad

Published | Updated

The Fresno State football player who was arrested after posting about carrying out a school shooting was just "fooling around" and didn't actually plan to do it ... so says his father.

18-year-old Christian Malik Pryor was arrested Monday after posting a picture of the FSU campus to Yik Yak with a caption that read, "the time is here. @3PM I will release my frustrations. Tired of dirty looks, get rejected, nd being talked about bc how I dress. My choice of weapon M4 Carbine."

Pryor added, "I will take a headshot at a hot blonde."

But Pryor's father, Gene Hopkins, tells TMZ Sports he has spoken with his son -- and insists the whole thing has been "blown out of proportion."

"That was just a prank that got out of hand," Gene says ... "He was trying to delete it and it got posted accidentally."

"Christian's a good kid, good athlete, a student. He's never been in any trouble, he doesn't own any weapons, I think it was just a Halloween prank that went bad."

"I asked him why he did it and he couldn't come up with a reason. He said he was just fooling around."

"I talked to him a couple times yesterday. He said, 'I don't know what I was thinking.' I think there's more to the story than we know."

Pryor is facing a felony charge of making a criminal threat -- and if convicted faces up to 3 years in prison.

Wilson announced the donation on Twitter moments ago ... with a message that read, "Had a tough time letting go of these...auctioning my game worn cleats from our win over SF to fight childhood cancer."

The Seahawks beat the 49ers 20-3 on October 22nd ... Russell made sure to scribble in the date and score on the shoes.

The cleats are already ON FIRE on eBay ... fetching a price of nearly $900 with seven days of bidding still left to go, which tells you they're going to net a big sum when all is said and done.

I LOVE 'EM

Dez Bryant has Jerry Jones' FULL SUPPORT when it comes to pet monkey ownership -- with the Cowboys owner admitting, "I am a monkey fan."

Jones appeared on 105.3 THE FAN Dallas/Ft. Worth -- and was asked if he had a chance to meet with Bryant's alleged pet monkey Dallas.

Jones says, "Missed the monkey" -- insinuating that Dez may have already gotten rid of the little guy -- but adds, "The monkey thing is pretty humorous."

Jones then launched into a story about how his father was in the "wild animal business" -- and had a minor crisis when one of the monkeys attacked a little girl and ripped her hair out.

... interesting since that's EXACTLY WHY THE ANIMAL GROUPS DON'T WANT MONKEYS AS PETS!!!

As for Dez's monkey -- still no word on its whereabouts.

So, they brought gear to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC and made a spectacle in the middle of the Panthers vs. Colts game -- dropping a banner that read, "BoA: Dump Dominion" (which included a link to their website).

Cops eventually busted the rappellers -- along with the two other people suspected of aiding them -- and all 4 people were arrested for 2nd degree trespassing and resisting arrest.

The two women -- Angela Vogel and Erica Madrid -- have since been released from custody.

The two men -- John Nicholson and David Baghdadi -- are still behind bars.

When you play pro ball in L.A., schmoozin' with the celebrities is part of the job ... just ask Chris Paul who chummed it up with Floyd Mayweather and Kevin Hart before Monday's game.

Both Floyd and Kev had courtside seats to watch the Clippers take on the Phoenix Suns -- and each star got a personal visit from CP3 before tip off ... pretty cool, right?

BTW, Kev took his son to the game ... and judging by the look on his face as the Clips pulled away ... dude had a good time.

NFL's Ed McCaffrey Furious Over Duke Ref Blunder It's An Absolute Travesty

Published | Updated

Ex-NFL great Ed McCaffrey is still LIVID that his son's Duke football squad got hosed by the officials this weekend -- telling TMZ Sports they deserve a HARSHER punishment than a 2 game suspension.

Ed's son is a WR on the team -- which makes the whole thing sting even more for Ed ... who says the blown call on the final play of the Miami vs. Duke game was, "The most egregious officiating debacle I’ve ever seen since being a part of football."

Of course, the refs missed FOUR mistakes on a wild final play, in which Miami took a series of laterals all the way to the house ... resulting in a 30-27 victory.

"The ACC did the right thing by suspending [the officiating crew] for two games," McCaffrey said ... "But if it was up to me I would’ve suspended them for the rest of the season."

"Then I’d evaluate them at the end of the season to see if they deserve to return to officiate next year."

Ed says he feels terrible for the players who are still in the hunt for an ACC Coastal title -- because "They can’t get the win back. It dropped Duke out of the Top 25 so this is really disappointing."

"People will be talking about that poor example of officiating for years to come. It was plain terrible."

Dez Bryant Cops Aware of 'Alleged Illegal Possession' Of Monkey

Published | Updated

The Dez Bryant pet monkey saga has reached new heights -- with Dez's personal attorney reaching out to cops in an effort to avoid a criminal investigation.

As we previously reported, animal rights groups went bananas after Dez posted a pic with a domesticated Capuchin monkey which he named Dallas Bryant ... a monkey that appeared to be his new pet.

Now, officials in DeSoto, TX -- where Dez is believed to reside -- tell TMZ Sports they have been made aware of the "alleged illegal possession" of the monkey within city limits.

In fact, the DeSoto PD has issued a statement saying, "The City Attorney was just contacted by Mr. Bryants’ personal attorney who advised the monkey is NOT in the City of DeSoto."

"The DeSoto Police Department is in contact with the City Attorney, the Dallas Cowboys organization, and Mr. Bryants’ personal attorney, regarding this matter. We have also been in contact with PETA and the North America Primate Sanctuary Alliance in an effort to address their concerns."

"It should be noted, that as of this date, the DeSoto Police Department has no evidence that the Capuchin monkey is in the City Of DeSoto."

"Although photos were posted on social media sites, this does not rise to the level of probable cause necessary to secure an administrative search warrant to seize the monkey."

I WISH I WAS A BALLER

The trash talking is over ... the speculation is over ... and now Jay Williams' reputation as a basketball player might be over ... 'cause the former NBA #2 pick LOST his bball bet with MTV star Andrew Schulz in embarrassingly epic fashion.

Jay and Andrew finally got the game poppin' in NYC Sunday night with Schulz's "Brilliant Idiots" co-host Charlamagne Tha God and ESPN's Amin Elhassan on hand to call the match up.

To jog your memory ... the two agreed to play to seven for $1k with Jay spotting Andrew 6 POINTS ... meaning Schulz only had to score once to beat the 2002 college player of the year.

Things started out great for Jay ... locking Andrew down on defense and scoring at will ... but Jay tried to get a little fancy when he got to game point, and everything went to hoops hell.

Congrats, Andrew ... we're all here for you, Jay.

La'el Collins Ex-GF's Murder Case Goes Cold Cops Don't Believe He's Involved

Published | Updated

The Baton Rouge PD tells TMZ Sports ... they still do NOT have a suspect in the murder of La'el Collins' ex-girlfriend -- but claim they don't believe the NFL star had anything to do with her death.

Collins' draft stock plummeted back in May when he was questioned in connection with the murder of Brittney Mills ... who cops said dated Collins before she was killed on April 24th. Mills was 8 months pregnant when she was shot and killed in her apartment. A paternity test reportedly ruled Collins out as the father. Collins eventually signed a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Collins was never named a suspect -- but did speak with cops as part of the murder investigation

Now, a rep for the BRPD tells us the case has essentially gone cold -- with no official suspects and no promising leads to pursue.

The BRPD says they don't believe Collins was connected with her death in any way -- and say he's no longer a focus of the investigation.

Cops say they are frustrated because the investigation hit a dead end because officers have been unable to unlock Mills' cell phone, which they believe might contain clues to the murder.
