Lewis Hamilton has a need for speed ... even on the sidewalk.

The Formula 1 racer ditched his Mercedes for a different ride -- a Ninebot electric unicycle, which he rode while walking his adorable bulldog Roscoe over the weekend in Miami.

It's been nearly 30 years since NCAA basketball superstar Len Bias died from a cocaine overdose ... just two days after he was selected as the #2 overall pick in the NBA Draft.

Now, with Lamar Odom fighting for his life in a Vegas hospital, Len's mother, Dr. Lonise Bias, says people must understand that drug addiction is a disease -- and it needs to be treated before it's too late.

Dr. Bias issued a statement to TMZ Sports ... complete with a heartfelt message to Lamar ... and a reality check to the rest of the sports world.

Lamar Odom has had significant improvement in his condition in the last 24 hours and now he's breathing completely on his own.

Our hospital witnesses say Lamar has been taken completely off the ventilator. We're told he's still wearing an oxygen mask to increase his oxygen levels.

Another big improvement ... Lamar has been responding to doctors both physically and verbally today and his heart is still doing well.

That said, Lamar still has major medical issues ... several organs are still not responding.

Jon Jones is CRUSHING his court-ordered community service -- TMZ Sports has learned he's made a sizable dent in his required 72 appearances to speak to kids groups ... with high praise from the orgs.

As part of his plea deal in his hit-and-run case in New Mexico last month, Jones was ordered to make 72 appearances with kids groups to educate children about making good decisions in life.

We've learned Jones hit up 5 different places on Thursday -- to rave reviews from the people who run the groups.

One of the places he went was Sandia Prep School -- where he spoke with the kids about how he almost lost his career over a few bad choices.

We spoke with the coach, who tells us, "His message to my team was simply awesome. His whole demeanor was great."

"These are young men, 8th grade to seniors in high school who really look up to him and I think they learned from this and appreciated Jon’s visit. I appreciated it."

Jones also swung by Gracie Barra New Mexico Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu --where instructor Don Ortega tells us Jon was equally candid with his students.

"He talked about losing a lot of wrestling matches but setting hit goals high and working hard to achieve them."

Bigger isn't always better ... especially when it comes to muscles -- so says WWE legend Batista who tells TMZ Sports he's found being super jacked can be a huge turn-off with the ladies.

For the record, Batista was HUUUGE in his heyday ... but says being ultra-jacked rubbed chicks the wrong way because it terrified women.

Of course, he doesn't have to worry about that anymore ... Batista just married his longtime GF and he's pretty pumped about it.

Khloe Kardashian is at Lamar Odom's bedside because she cares about him, and we've learned Lamar has not let divorce get in the way of his feelings, because she stands to inherit a big chunk of his fortune.

As we reported, Khloe and Lamar had a prenup, separating her money from his. Multiple sources familiar with the situation tell us Lamar does not have a will. Under the laws of California, if he were to die, Khloe would be entitled to 1/3 of Lamar's personal fortune. His kids would get the remaining 2/3.

There's no fighting it ... the law is the law. We're told Khloe doesn't care about his money or want it, but the fact is, she's still his wife and she gets 1/3.

Our sources also say Lamar has several life insurance trusts, making both Khloe and his kids beneficiaries.

By the way, some prenups provide that each spouse is disinherited from the other, but we're told that isn't the case with Khloe and Lamar.

TMZ Sports has the first pics of Floyd Mayweather's replacement for his fire ravaged custom Jeep ... and we gotta say ... the dude sure knows how to bounce back.

As we previously reported ... Floyd lost 4 whips due to a freak blaze in Arizona earlier this month, one of them being his prized 2015 Jeep Wrangler which he'd spent over $100k to customize.

News of the fire traveled down to the Auto Firm in Miami -- who tricked out the first Jeep -- and owner Alex Vega immediately promised Floyd a bigger, better ride to cruise in.

From the look of the pictures we got ... they delivered.

The new Avorza Jeep features custom alligator seats -- plus a touch screen navigation and entertainment system. Total cost for the upgrades, $120k ... $20k more than version 1.0.

One thing this Jeep doesn't have that the old one did? Doors ... Floyd decided he didn't want any this time.

Maybe a good idea ... you know ... in case you know, fire.

Lamar Odom's children showed signs of relief Friday after leaving their dad's bedside.

Lamar Jr. and Destiny, accompanied by mom Liza Morales, showed faint smiles outside their Vegas hotel.

As we reported, Lamar's heart function has improved, and he was briefly taken off the ventilator ... all good signs.

Our sources, however, make it clear ... Lamar is in critical condition and far from out of the woods.

Snoop Dogg is going to bat for disgraced USC coach Steve Sarkisian ... saying he knows the man personally and thinks he's worthy of another shot on the sidelines.

It's a huge statement from Snoop -- not just because he's a HUUUGE USC fan -- but because he's got a history of calling out NFL and college coaches when he thinks they should get fired ... even at SC.

So, when he was leaving Supperclub in Hollywood the other day ... we had to ask if he thinks Sark should be put out to pasture permanently for allegedly being liquored up around his players.

Former NBA star Joe Smith is paying lyrical tribute to his fallen friend Lamar Odom ... recording an emotional song for his former Lakers teammate called "If I Die Tonight."

Odom continues to fight for his life after being found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel Tuesday ... and, although he's shown some signs of improvement recently, a long road remains.

Smith played with Odom on the Lakers in 2010-11 and tells TMZ Sports he recorded the track hoping it would lift the spirits of everyone who cares and loves Lamar.

"I want [the song] to give the people some faith and motivation... empower them. Give them hope that Lamar's going to be okay."

Although the song seems to be asking the question of what the world would do if Odom were to pass away, Smith says reaction has been positive ... even moving some to tears.

Lamar Odom was never without oxygen ... and this is a critical factor weighing in his recovery.

Our sources tell us, when Lamar was admitted to the first hospital in Pahrump, Nevada after the 911 call, his respirations were 6-8 breaths a minute. Normal is 12-20. That led doctors to conclude he was never without oxygen.

We're also told when the ambulance picked Lamar up from the Love Ranch, his blood had 38% oxygen saturation. Paramedics treated him and by the time he entered the ER, the percentage increased to 58%. Normal blood saturation is in the high 90's.

Doctors who are treating Lamar are hopeful he did not suffer significant brain damage because of lack of oxygen. This is all consistent with the person who called 911 and said Lamar was struggling but breathing.

Johnny Manziel's girlfriend told police the NFL star shoved her head into a window during a domestic dispute in their car on Monday ... and said both had been drinking ... this according to the police report.

When you win a championship with someone, that's your brother for life ... so says Glen "Big Baby" Davis who tells TMZ Sports the love Kobe Bryant feels for Lamar Odom is as real as it gets.

The NBA star was at LAX and told us the shade Master P has been throwing at Kobe is just because he's upset and hurting ... and he's misdirecting his anger.
