Pete Rose is betting on himself again ... opening the Pete Rose Bar & Grill in Las Vegas -- where you can definitely watch sports ... but can't bet on them.

Charlie Hustle says the Pete Rose Bar & Grill will open on Las Vegas Blvd. in mid-October ... and says the place will be chock full of TVs so sports fans can booze and eat and watch ANY sporting event they want.

As for the menu ... Rose says it's essentially a love letter to the cities where he played with items like:

-- Cincinnati Chili on Spaghetti for the Cincinnati Reds
-- A classic Philly Cheese Steak for the Philadelphia Phillies
-- And a spin on Poutine for the Montreal Expos, topped with brown gravy and cheese curds.

As for gambling, we're told there will be NONE -- not even those video poker machines at the bar -- because Rose says he really wants to focus on the food and the atmosphere.

Former NFL star wide receiver Irving Fryar -- who played in the league for 17 SEASONS -- was just sentenced to 5 years in prison for a mortgage fraud scheme involving his 74-year-old mom.

Earlier this year, Fryar and his mother were found guilty of conspiring to defraud banks out of more than $1.2 MILLION through a home equity loan scam.

But moments ago, the Fryars learned their fate -- Irving gets 5 years behind bars ... and his mom gets 3 years probation ... partly because of her advanced age.

Fryar was a pretty good pro -- a 5-time Pro-Bowler and won the Bart Starr Award in 1998 ... an award given to NFL players who demonstrate outstanding character and leadership.

MMA star Johny Hendricks will not be fighting in UFC 192 on Saturday after being rushed to the hospital for intestinal blockage and kidney stones stemming ... so says Johny's manager.

Hendricks was scheduled to put his welterwight championship on the line against Tyron Woodley tomorrow night, but ran into huge medical issues while attempting to cut weight Thursday night.

According to his manager Ted Ehrhardt, Johny was in bad shape -- he needed to be given an IV and kidney stones were detected during his trip to the emergency room.

In fact, Hendricks told MMAFighting.com ... "The weight was coming off fine and then yesterday my body just started to shut down. When it hit that point, I tried to push through it, and well, it didn't go well because then I had to go to the ER."

She thought she was off the hook ... but Hope Solo's domestic violence case (which was previously dismissed) is now BACK ON ... which means she WILL face charges in municipal court.

As we previously reported, Solo was accused of beating up her 17-year-old nephew and half-sister in a drunken rage at a house party in the Seattle area ... allegations Solo adamantly denies.

The case was previously dismissed on procedural grounds ... but city prosecutors appealed and now the decision has been reversed.

A document filed to the state court's website on Friday states: "The court reverses the decision of the lower court and remands the case to the Kirkland Municipal Court."

Josh Scobee's wife tells TMZ Sports ... she's confident the Pittsburgh Steelers kicker will weather the storm after missing 2 key field goals Thursday night ... saying, "He has a strong faith in God."

Scobee's been catching hell from hardcore Steelers fans -- including Snoop Dogg -- who are calling for his job after missing 2 crucial kicks in the 4th quarter, opening the door for the Ravens to come back and win the game.

Melissa Scobee tells us she and her husband are still "waiting to see what the team is going to do" ... and says Thursday's game was "definitely the toughest of his career."

"There's no doubt [Josh's] going to get thru this," Melissa adds ... "He has a strong faith in God."

"I have faith in God, and I have faith in my husband, and I have trust in both of them that we are going to get through this."'

Tennis superstar James Blake is calling for the NYPD to terminate the officer who viciously tackled him to the ground last month ... claiming people like him should NOT be empowered to police the streets, EVER.

Blake appeared on Cari Champion's podcast "Be Honest" yesterday and blasted Officer James Frascatore --- who body slammed Blake in NYC last month after mistakenly identifying him as a criminal suspect.

The NYPD has since apologized -- but Blake essentially says talk is cheap ... he wants to see the cops TAKE ACTION by firing Frascatore's ass ... and anyone else who acts like he did.

"We need to make sure officers like [Frascatore] don't get their gun and badge back and have that feeling of invincibility just because they have a badge."

FYI -- Frascatore's police record has been under attack since the incident ... with reports that he's been the subject of 5 civilian complaints in 7 months and 2 excessive-force lawsuits.

It's Friday ... and the Houston Texans cheerleaders decided to celebrate by dancing around in tiny bikinis and then jumping in the pool.

Photos from the DUI wreck Brandon Davis had Thursday night show just how horrific the accident was -- and TMZ has learned he was hanging with former NHL star Mike Comrie beforehand.

We broke the story, Brandon -- heir to the Davis oil fortune -- had a single car wreck in L.A. and absolutely destroyed his Mercedes Benz sedan. Davis was transported to a hospital, where police arrested him for an alleged DUI.

Earlier in the evening, Brandon was seen drinking wine with Comrie -- Hilary Duff's estranged husband -- at L.A. sushi joint Matsuhisa. It doesn't appear Comrie was in the car with Brandon at the time of the accident ... as the ambulance only transported one patient.

Davis, aka Greasy Bear ... has been released from the hospital, and is getting transported to jail.

The NBA just added some serious firepower to the front office -- hiring the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to be Adam Silver's new special adviser.

The league just announced Ret. General Martin E. Dempsey -- the highest ranking U.S. military official for the past 4 years -- will step into his new role effective January 1st.

So, what's he gonna do exactly?

The NBA says Dempsey will "provide the NBA with counsel on leadership and service, while continuing to support the league's military and youth basketball initiatives."

In a statement, Gen. Dempsey added ... "After 4 decades of service in the United States Armed Forces, I look forward to working with the league to help improve communities and positively impact the children of civilian and military families."

As for Silver -- the NBA commish says he's "honored" to have Gen. Dempsey on board.

Sorry Vito ... Michael Sam is finally moving on -- 'cause the football player hit up his old stomping grounds at the University of Missouri yesterday and declared, "I might try to find a husband in here."

Sam was doing his first Periscope with his friend L'Damian Washington and decided to livestream from the campus of UM while talking to various students.

While walking into one of the buildings, L'Damian says, "I might find my wife today."

Sam retorts, "I might try to find a husband in here."

Seems to be the first time Sam's acknowledging that he's moved on from his longtime BF/fiance Vito Cammisano ... after breaking up over the summer.

There was one other interesting thing that happened during the Periscope sesh ... Sam asks a woman if she'll be the mother of his kids -- and she says yes.

With his team eliminated from the playoffs ... and his season over with a finger injury ... SD Padres star Matt Kemp hit the Hollywood club scene last night ... because ... well ... why the hell not?!

Kemp and some pals hit up 1 OAK nightclub on the Sunset Strip ... where rapper Noreaga was chillin' last night ... and partied like he didn't have to get up and go to work this morning.

James Harden shouldn't trash his old Nikes just yet ... 'cause Kevin Hart predicts the NBA star will eventually COME BACK to the Swoosh ... despite his $200 million deal with Adidas.

Hart was at the Venice Beach Recreation Center for a Nike+ Run Club event -- when he pledged his allegiance to the shoe brand and predicted it's just a matter of time before Harden returns to the Nike fam.

It's not the craziest theory ... considering Harden refused to junk his Nikes after he signed his contract with Adidas ... even after the people at Adidas let him know it was pissing them off.

Snoop Dogg is PISSED -- calling for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers to FIRE THE HELL out of kicker Josh Scobee ... after he blew TWO huge kicks last night that essentially cost Pittsburgh the game.

Scobee had TWO chances to tack onto Pittsburgh's lead in the 4th quarter Thursday night ... a 49 yarder and a 41 yarder ... but he choked both times ... giving life to a Baltimore comeback.

The Steelers eventually lost the game in overtime ... and Snoop thinks Scobee should pay with his job.

The University of Miami sports hall of fame is sticking by Warren Sapp ... keeping him in after Sapp pled guilty to domestic violence in Las Vegas Thursday ... TMZ Sports has learned.

We spoke with John Routh, executive director of the of the U of M HOF and he tells us that despite Sapp's legal issues, his status as a member remains unchanged.

"At this point, there is no plan to remove him."

As we previously reported ... Sapp pled guilty to 3 counts of domestic violence stemming from an incident where he bit and stomped his girlfriend Chalyce Moore.

Despite the gory details of the incident ... Routh tells us the brass over at the hall are actually rooting for him ... hoping he can get his life together.

"Warren is a member of our family, and when you have a family member going through something you just hope and pray that things will get better."

Johnny Strange -- who became famous for climbing the world's 7 tallest summits by the age of 17 -- has died in a wingsuiting accident in Europe ... TMZ Sports has confirmed with a family member and multiple people close to him.

Multiple sources connected to Strange tell us Johnny was in Switzerland -- where something went wrong during his jump ... and Strange was killed as a result.

Strange called in to "Kevin & Bean" on KROQ on Monday from Switzerland and said he was shooting a dangerous wingsuit proximity video where "we fly super close to stuff."

After the K&B interview, Strange shot a video doing some wingsuiting, which he posted to social media.

Johnny made national headlines as a teen -- appearing on "Conan O'Brien", CNN and CBS News when he became the youngest person to ever climb the "7 summits."

Strange climbed his first "world class peak" when he was 12 -- conquering Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica. Since then, he traveled the world doing extreme sports ... including base jumping into the Grand Canyon.
