Former UFC champ Rashad Evans has some new hardware ... as in the metal pins he had inserted to repair his injured right hand!

The ex light-heavyweight title holder walked out of Katsuya in Hollywood last night sporting a big ole cast on his hand and wrist -- and said he got some pins to put his thumb "back in place." Our UFC sources say it's a "really bad sprain."

It's unclear if the injury is directly related to his recent victory over Tito Ortiz.

Speaking of Ortiz ... you gotta hear what Rashad had to say about that "leaked" twitpic of Tito's junk.

10:40 AM: Rashad's rep tells us he dislocated his thumb during the Ortiz fight, and says it will be healed in three weeks.

Ex-NBA STAR JALEN ROSE Released from Jail After 16 Days

Former NBA star Jalen Rose was released from a Detroit jail this morning -- after spending 16 days behind bars stemming from a DUI arrest back in March.

Rose -- who currently works for ESPN as an NBA analyst -- was originally sentenced to 20 days in the slammer ... after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated during a March 11 crash.

TMZ broke the story ... the 38-year-old ex-Fab Fiver was driving along an icy roadway in Michigan with a female passenger when he lost control of his vehicle, flipping the car.

After the judge basically threw the book at Rose -- Jalen's lawyer called the sentence "outrageous" ... and an "abuse of discretion."

Hideki Irabu Death Certificate 'Self-Inflicted with Rope'

The death certificate for former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu has been filed in Los Angeles ... in which his official cause of death is listed as "hanging ... self-inflicted with rope."

42-year-old Irabu was found dead in his California home last month.

According to the certificate, the Japanese-born ball player was married at the time of his death. He also had two children.

NHL Badass Sean Avery Off the Hook In Police Battery Case

NHL star Sean Avery just caught a fast break in his police battery case -- because we're told, he won't face any charges after his recent arrest ... for allegedly shoving a cop.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, "No criminal charges of any kind will be filed against Sean Avery stemming from his August 5 arrest for battery on a police officer."

As TMZ first reported, cops showed up to Sean's Hollywood Hills home in response to a noise complaint -- and when Avery answered the door ... he allegedly shoved an officer and closed the door.

But according to law enforcement sources, a further investigation revealed that no officer was ever actually pushed.

We're told the officer who made the battery report did so after his foot was caught in Avery's front door -- and multiple witnesses have corroborated the story.

According to sources, police don't believe it's appropriate to charge Avery -- and agree the matter would be best handled by an informal meeting with the L.A. City Attorney, who's expected to officially close the case ... without prosecution.

San Diego Church KOBE'S INNOCENT!

Kobe Bryant was a perfect little angel at St. Therese of Carmel Church according to parishioners who tell TMZ they only saw Kobe praying -- and they've never heard of his mysterious accuser.

Several people at the church are backing up Kobe's denial of a scuffle with a fellow churchgoer last Sunday. Kobe allegedly thought the guy was taking pictures of him on his cell phone.

Church members tell us, no one took pictures during the service ... and they definitely didn't see Kobe grab anyone's phone.

In fact, we're told, no one on the church staff has even heard of Thomas Hagos ... the guy who allegedly tried to take the cell phone pics.

Super Bowl Hero Cops Tased Me In Front of My 4-Year-Old

Retired NFL receiver Jermaine Lewis tells TMZ, he was NOT resisting arrest when police entered his home and tased him in front of his 4-year-old son on Monday -- after he allegedly went on a reckless joyride.

According to the Baltimore County Police report, 36-year-old Jermaine was accused of driving like a maniac -- swerving all over the place and even hitting a fire department sign in Reisterstown, MD ... without stopping.

According to the report, an officer showed up to the former Baltimore Raven's house soon after he had gotten home and attempted to place Jermaine under arrest for hit-and-run -- but the ex-NFL star allegedly resisted, so the officer tased him.

But now Jermaine is PISSED -- telling TMZ, "I never resisted arrest." Lewis says he was merely sitting on his couch when the officers resorted to using the taser.

What's worse -- Jermaine claims the officer callously whipped out the weapon in front his 4-year-old son ... telling us, his son "was very upset crying and my dog was barking."

Jermaine was released Tuesday on $50,000 bail. He's best known for his thrilling kickoff return touchdown in Super Bowl XXXV.

Ernie Hahn -- GM of Valley View Casino Center -- tells TMZ, the mouse that made a cameo during a bout between Alberto Del Rio and John Cena on last night's show was a white "feeder" mouse bought from a store ... NOT your average wild gray/brown variety.

Ernie claims the color theory proves it wasn't an in-house mouse -- and even if it were, it wouldn't survive long ... because according to Ernie, the arena employs a full-time pest service to keep critters under control.

As for who the vermin vigilante might be -- the GM's stumped.

Kobe Bryant I Did NOT Fight in Church

Kobe Bryant is finally responding to allegations he scrapped in church last Sunday -- and says his accuser is flat out lying.

Kobe's attorney Mark Campbell says the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is "aware of the baseless allegations asserted against him, and is prepared to defend against them fully."

Kobe attended a church in Carmel Valley, CA on Sunday ... and allegedly grabbed a cell phone from a man he thought was trying to take photos of him and his family. The man reportedly claims his wrist was injured.

Campbell identified Kobe's accuser as Thomas Hagos.

San Diego police tell TMZ they want to question Hagos about the alleged incident before they decide if they need to talk to Kobe.
