Officials Won't KO Mayweather for Burning $100 Bill

Published | Updated

It appears Floyd Mayweather is getting away with a crime ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ the boxer will NOT get prosecuted for lighting a $100 bill on fire in an Atlanta nightclub this weekend.

Reps from multiple law enforcement agencies tell TMZ ... it is HIGHLY unlikely for Floyd to be charged with a crime .... with one person telling us, "Try to find a case in recent history where a person was prosecuted for destroying ONE bill. "

An official spokesperson for the Secret Service -- the agency that enforces the money burning law -- had no comment. Ditto for the United State's Attorney's Office.

It's bad enough that Floyd is burning money when the economy is in the crapper ... but what the hell is the point of the law if it's not enforced?

So, we gotta ask ...

Sandra

I can't believe people voted that he should be prosecuted!!! Are you kidding me? Do you know how much it would cost tax payers to prosecute him?!!?! Give me a break!

mikmik

When you're a celebrity you are suppose to be a person that someone looks up to...not burning money that a lot of people don't have, yes its his money but thats just an insult for people who are hungry and homeless, at least have a conscience and be a good example.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Lights $100 Bill ... ON FIRE

Published | Updated

A recession-proof Floyd Mayweather Jr. literally has money to burn -- and proved it by setting a $100 bill on FIRE inside an Atlanta nightclub this weekend.

Floyd was partying with Lil Kim and Gucci Mane at the Velvet Room during the conflagration Sunday night -- and we're told, there were plenty more bills where that came from ... Floyd was rolling with STACKS of hundreds.

We should mention: it's illegal to burn money ... so if the Feds decide to pursue an investigation, Floyd could face up to six months behind bars, and, ironically, a $100 fine.

Fighting inflation, one bill at a time.

Hines Ward Police Report -- 'Strong Odor' of Alcohol

Published | Updated

Hines Ward blew a .128 early Saturday morning -- and officers noticed "a strong odor" of alcohol coming from him, a flush face, and blood shot eyes ... this according to the police report.

According to the DeKalb County Police report, the officer spotted Ward's Aston Martin driving erratically -- which Ward told the officer was because he had dropped his phone.

An officer gave Hines a "follow my finger" field sobriety test -- during which the officer says Ward lacked "smooth pursuit" and suffered from nystagmus (fancy word for involuntary eye movement).

The officer says Ward also had a hard time keeping his balance during a "walk and turn evaluation."

The report says Ward agreed to take a breathalyzer ... blew .128 -- the legal limit is .08 -- and was arrested for DUI. DeKalb authorities tell us the .128 was an unofficial reading that is not admissible in court -- and Ward refused to take a second, official test.

According to the report, Ward admitted drinking 2 Coronas ... three hours before he was pulled over -- however, he maintains he was not drunk at the time of his arrest.

Witnesses: Hines Ward Didn't Look Drunk to Us

Published | Updated

Witnesses at two different Georgia bars tell TMZ ... they spotted Hines Ward just hours before he was arrested for DUI ... and they all say the "DWTS" champ showed no signs of being drunk.

TMZ spoke with employees and patrons at two places -- Oasis Gentleman's Club and Buckhead Bottle Bar & Restaurant.

A witness at Oasis (an establishment where young ladies work to put themselves through nursing school) tells TMZ ... Hines was not drinking heavily, did not want to be bothered, and seemed genuinely "disinterested." The witness said Ward was only there from 9-10:00 PM.

The lovely young lady who answered the phone at Oasis confirmed she saw Ward that night.

And another witness says he saw Ward at the Buckhead Bottle Bar. A waiter there tells TMZ Hines was at the bar for a few hours, but only had one or two drinks. The employee said Hines was super nice, not drunk at all, and did not appear to have any problems walking or talking.

The waiter says Ward left at around 1:30 AM. He was popped for DUI approximately four miles away, an hour later.

Ward maintains he was not impaired by alcohol at the time he was arrested.
