NFL Network host Rich Eisen -- who clocked the worst 40-yard dash time at the 2014 NFL Combine -- is finally talking about his record setting performance, telling TMZ Sports ... "I only know one speed ... and it's slow."

Eisen's sprint has become a tradition at the combine dating back to 2005 -- when Terrell Davis challenged the anchor to get his ass out from behind the desk and hit the field.

This year, Rich finally broke the 6-second mark ... with an official 5.98, shattering his personal best by half-a-second ... and when we saw him at LAX, he couldn't have been more proud!!

Just for perspective ... the next slowest 40 time this year was 5.48 ... recorded by a guy who's 6'6" and weighs 311 lbs.

The Aaron Hernandez jail fight has triggered an internal investigation at Bristol County Jail ... with officials gunning to find out how deputies would allow two guys with known beef to come face to face, TMZ Sports has learned.

We broke the story ... Hernandez -- who's supposed to be a segregated prisoner for his own protection -- attacked another inmate in a jail hallway Tuesday and beat the guy up pretty badly.

Our sources tell us ... it was no secret Aaron and the other guy had been mouthing off at each other for some time ... and now officials want to know how in the hell they both ended up in the same hallway at the same time.

Now, Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson says officials are talking to witnesses and checking jail cameras to find out exactly what went down.

The Philadelphia Eagles speedster was leaving Supperclub in L.A. last night -- when we asked if he was impressed with Clowney's blazing fast 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine.

"Faster than me? I don't think so," Jackson said.

"I can just congratulate him for being 260 and doing his thing ... but this Jackson speed right here is rollin' on anything in the NFL ... put it that way, you feel me?"

We feel you.

There's more ... "I just need to see him get to the NFL and do his thing ... the NFL is a big man sport."

"I know he's 260 ... that fast sh*t cool ... but I got homies right here that's bigger than that, that poundin' sh*t in the streets. So, if he gonna get on that field and pound sh*t, I can't do nothing but respect him."

University of Colorado football player Jeffrey Hall was TASED by police over the weekend after allegedly choking out a woman at a house party in Boulder ... cops say.

Hall -- a sophomore defensive back -- allegedly went berserk just before midnight on Friday ... "choking out" former member of the CU's women's track and field team.

When cops arrived to the scene, Hall allegedly rushed after the woman again in an aggressive manner -- and when cops stopped in, Hall allegedly called them all "pigs."

Cops say Hall continued to act aggressively, accusing the cops of targeting black men ... and continuing to try to lunge at the woman ... so they broke out the taser and shocked the guy -- TWICE.

Eventually, the 19-year-old was arrested for assault, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest,, obstruction of a police and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Hall has reportedly been suspended by the team.

Johnny Bench tells TMZ Sports he fully SUPPORTS the new anti-collision rule in the MLB -- but that doesn't make him a wuss. In fact, Johnny says he's still tough as nails ... and he's willing to prove it.

Johnny was out in D.C. Tuesday when he dropped some serious collision knowledge -- comparing speeding base runners to MISSILES who can seriously injure a catcher.

But when we asked if he still considered catchers "tough" -- the 66-year-old Hall of Famer challenged our guy to a collision right there on the spot.

Seriously, we're lucky our guy walked away in one piece.

Jen Selter -- fitness model turned ass Internet sensation -- tells TMZ Sports ... she LOVES when famous athletes and celebs reach out to her about her butt 'cause "it makes me feel special in a way."

Aaron Hernandez ATTACKED another inmate at Bristol County Jail earlier today ... and we're told he beat the guy up pretty good ... sources tell TMZ Sports.

Sources tell us the former New England Patriots tight end -- who is usually segregated from the general population -- was allowed to take a walk in an isolated hallway ... but somehow came into contact with another inmate.

We're told Hernandez recognized the other inmate and launched into an attack -- beating the other man up pretty badly.

Sources tell us ... Hernandez and the other man had been beefing all day long. One source says the other guy had been harassing Aaron nonstop. Clearly, Hernandez was pissed.

The 24-year-old has been locked up since June 26th -- he's facing murder charges stemming from the 2013 shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.

Officials had placed Hernandez in solitary confinement out of concern he would be a target behind bars due to his celebrity status.

We reached out to the jail for comment -- so far, no word back.

With the combine underway in Indianapolis, the biggest NFL prospect of them all was training hard on the beach with his dad in California ... and we've got the pics.

Tom Brady and his 4-year-old son Ben were running drills in Santa Monica this week -- with Tom even breaking out the cones to add to the workout.

No word if Ben's received any scholarship offers yet ... but with only 14 years to go until his freshman season, it's never too early to start recruiting ... right Alabama?

Former University of Miami football star Jojo Nicolas is in critical condition after his car crashed into a semi-truck in Miami Beach early Tuesday morning ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Jojo -- a former defensive back who played from 2007 to 2011 -- was driving a grey Lexus that slammed into the back of a truck.

TMZ Sports obtained footage from the crash scene which shows the Lexus wedged underneath the truck. He was eventually removed from the car and transported to a nearby hospital.

Our sources tell us ... Jojo is currently in critical condition -- and as one source puts, "It doesn't look good."

Jojo last tweeted Monday night ... saying he was attending a party at a Miami Beach nightclub.

Law enforcement sources tell us alcohol "has not been ruled out" as a cause of the crash ... and we're told officials are aware of where Jojo was prior to the accident.

PGA golfer Steve Elkington is getting hammered on Twitter right now ... after making a joke about Michael Sam throwing a purse at the NFL combine.

The 51-year-old Australian -- who won the PGA championship in '95 -- wrote, "ESPN reporting Michael Sam is leading the handbag throw at NFL combine ... No one else expected to throw today."

Moments after the tweet, the backlash began ... with Steve's followers going off on the golfer. Here's a sample:

The Coop -- who just took the head coaching gig with the WNBA's Atlanta Dream -- was at LAX yesterday when we asked him to name the best pound-for-pound baller in the history of the league.

"I have to go with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar," Cooper said ... "He had the most unstoppable shot."

Cooper would know ... he played with Kareem for years during his stint with the Lakers.

One more thing -- Cooper also gave props to ex-teammate Magic Johnson for saving the entire WNBA.

Lakers -- they stick together.

Sorry Lil Wayne ... Tony Hawk says there's one rapper who's skateboard skills are FOR REAL ... and it ain't Weezy.

"Honestly, the best skater that I've seen who raps is Tyler the Creator," Hawk says.

"He really can skate ... He's legit."

Tyler's been skating for years -- and he's got the scars to show it. In fact, he once got 6 staples in his head after injuring himself in a skating accident when he was 14.
