Aaron Hernandez is desperately trying to maintain a relationship with his 1-year-old daughter during his stint in jail ... and talks to her on the phone almost every day, TMZ Sports has learned.

Hernandez is currently locked up in the Bristol County House of Corrections while facing murder charges in the death of Odin Lloyd -- and he gets one hour of phone privileges per day.

Sources close to the family tell us ... Aaron has a daily routine, in which he spends the hour on the phone with his daughter Avielle Janelle.

Even though she doesn't say much (she's still a baby after all), we're told Aaron was on the line the first time she said the word "daddy" ... which was roughly two months ago.

As we previously reported, Hernandez and his daughter share the same birthday -- November 6 -- and we're told they "talked" on the phone that day so Aaron could wish her a happy b-day.

Richie Incognito is playing the "everybody does it" card to explain why he hammered Jonathan Martin with threatening, racist, and violent language -- and further, he says it's just how he and Martin talk to each other.

In his first extensive interview, Incognito -- who's been suspended for his actions -- basically said players in NFL locker rooms, black and white, use the n-word freely.

Incognito admitted being "embarrassed" by the voicemail he left for his teammate ... where he called him a "half n**ga" -- and said he feels it's inappropriate for him to ever use that word. Strange ... since he's also saying he does it all the time.

As for bullying? Incognito told FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer ... he didn't think this was a case of bullying ... and was more "an issue of mine and Jon's relationship, where I've taken stuff too far, and I didn't know it was hurting him."

Incognito also shared text messages he says his "best friend" Jonathan sent him after the controversy exploded. He claims Martin said ... "I don't blame you guys. I blame some stuff in the locker room. I blame the culture. I blame what was going on around me."

Prince Harry, Alexander Skarsgard, and "300" actor Dominic West are getting down to the wire before their epic race to the South Pole later this month -- and TMZ has obtained awesome photos of their training sessions from around the world.

FYI, Harry, Alex, and Dominic (each leading a separate team) are set to depart on their subzero 208-mile journeys to the South Pole in about three weeks -- with an ETA of December 17 -- and they've been training like madmen for the last year.

Polar guide Inge Solheim -- who is training the three men -- tells TMZ, they're all in phenomenal shape, prepping by ice climbing, skiing, and hiking around the world.

For example, the Skarsgard pics show the "True Blood" actor heavy backpack training in the Santa Monica mountains in September -- then camping, cross-country skiing, and cold weather conditioning in Norway in October.

The trek is being planned to raise awareness for a charity called Walking with the Wounded, which raises funds to benefit wounded veterans around the world.

May the best man win, but we still gotta ask ...

For that football dude Richie ... Incognito is more than just a name -- it's now a lifestyle.

Jay Glazer -- who interviewed the troubled NFL'er for FOX NFL Sunday's pre-game show -- tells TMZ Richie has not left his swanky hotel suite in Bev Hills since blowing into town Friday.

It's interesting ... Richie is not one to live on the downlow. If you have doubts about that check out the Ferrari he bought right after all the hazing stuff became public.

Richie Incognito calls Jonathan Martin his best friend on the Miami Dolphins -- and says he's worried about him ... even though Martin's allegations of hazing got Richie suspended ... TMZ has learned.

Incognito talked today for the first time about the scandal ... with FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer. Sources on the FOX set tell us Incognito wasn't exactly apologetic for his actions -- but instead expressed deep concern about Martin's health since he left the team.

We're told Incognito was willing to answer any and all questions about the controversy -- including alleged threats against Martin's family, and the infamous voicemail he left ... where he allegedly called Martin a "half n***a."

Pretty surprising for Incognito to refer to Martin as his "best friend" ... considering his accusations could ultimately ruin Incognito's NFL career.

The interview will air during tomorrow's FOX NFL Sunday pregame show.

It's unclear if Incognito addressed the video TMZ posted of him raging in a sports bar, yelling the n-word -- but we'd bet it came up.

Video just surfaced of NBA star Anthony Davis being held down butt naked and spanked on his ass -- an apparent victim of hazing while at the University of Kentucky.

Davis only attended the University of Kentucky for one season (2011-12) -- making him a freshman in the video ... where someone, most likely a teammate is smacking his ass in the locker room.

It's interesting video with hazing and locker room bullying becoming such a hot button issue after the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin scandal with the Miami Dolphins.

Davis is clearly not fighting back in the video -- which comes off as more playful than violent -- in fact, he's laughing and mugging for the camera.

We reached out to Univ. of Kentucky for comment ... so far, no word back.

Once again, Kobe Bryant is under attack from a former Lakers teammate -- this time, it's Dennis Rodman throwing shade ... and TMZ Sports has the footage.

Rodman -- who played with Kobe during the 98-99 season -- was at the W Hotel in Hollywood on November 3rd (singing with the jazz band) ... when he grabbed he mic and put Kobe on blast.

"Kobe Bryant ... one thing -- f**k him," Rodman said ... "F**k him. F**k him. I'll say it again, f**k him."

It's unclear why Rodman has an axe to grind with the Mamba ... but he ain't the first to beef with Bryant.

Kobe went back and forth with Smush Parker back in 2012 ... and before that, Shaq invited Kobe to tell him how his ass tastes in one of the greatest freestyle raps of all time.

Richie Incognito just touched down in Los Angeles ... and it's pretty clear some crisis manager has given him a playbook for the weekend.

Our sources say Richie is headed for a swanky hotel in Beverly Hills ... obviously to work on fixing his tarnished image.

No word on how Incog plans to resurrect himself ... but typically when someone is looking to fix their image, L.A. is the first stop.

A local Miami station and some paps caught up with Richie when he landed ... but the NFL star wouldn't say much.

He also stopped at Starbucks when he got off the plane.

Northwestern University will NOT CONTINUE TO SELL special edition blood-spattered football jerseys after the school was bombarded with complaints ... but those plans could change, TMZ Sports has learned.

The jerseys have been selling like hotcakes -- and sold out of the official school store in a matter of days. But now, a rep for Northwestern tells us ... the school will NOT restock the supply.

The official tells us the decision to pull the plug on the jerseys was NOT a reaction to the backlash -- but the rep declined to give further explanation.

The rep says school officials "may reassess selling the jerseys again in the future given the high demand but [the school] currently has no plans to sell the jerseys again."

Of course, the school says the red, white and blue unis weren't designed with blood spatter in mind -- and claim they were supposed to resemble the distressed look of an old American flag.

So far, it seems the school will still allow the team to wear the jerseys on the field on November 16th. The unis will be auctioned after the game with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.

1:00 PM PT -- Chad just apologized about the incident on Twitter, saying, "I want to apologize for my inappropriate antics at the drum clinic,my joke about team rivalries went too far. Flamenco [sic] fans...I'm sorry."

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith might leave Brazil with some extra scar tissue ... 'cause a ton of fans in the country want him dead after he desecrated the jersey of the most popular club team in South America.

Chad made a big mistake Sunday afternoon in Belo Horizonte during a drum clinic when he was gifted a Flamengo soccer club jersey -- and shoved it down the back of his pants, as if to say he wipes his ass with it.

The crowd immediately boo'ed the crap out of Chad ... and one unruly fan even threw something at his HEAD!

RHCP already performed a few shows since the debacle ... but a big group of fans are just catching wind of what happened ... and now they're vowing to raise hell at tomorrow's RHCP concert in Rio.

One angry Flamengo fan wrote a death threat in the comments section of the YouTube page where the video was posted -- saying, "Will arrive in Rio de Janeiro you will die motherf***er."

Another said, "the fans of Flamengo wants to kill you, are already planning to invade his show to throw rocks at you."

Miami Dolphins lineman Jonathan Martin says the locker room abuse was not just confined to Richie Incognito -- and it was so bad, one of the players told him the team was going to "run a train on [Martin's] sister."

Martin's lawyer David Cornwall issued a statement saying, "Jonathan endured harassment that went far beyond the traditional locker room hazing. For the entire season-and-a-half that he was with the Dolphins, he attempted to befriend the same teammates who subjected him to the abuse with the hope that doing so would end the harassment. "

Cornwall continues, "Beyond the well-publicized voice mail with its racial epithet, Jonathan endured a malicious physical attack on him by a teammate, and daily vulgar comments."

One of the vulgar comments, according to Martin, was the following quote from an unspecified teammate -- "We are going to run train on your sister ... She loves me. I am going to f–k her without a condom and c** in her c***.”

As for the physical attack -- details of that alleged incident have not been released.

When Seneca Wallace takes the field on Sunday, he'll be the first African-American starting QB in the history of the team ... and Seneca tells TMZ Sports he couldn't be more proud.

It's a huge milestone for GB, considering the organization is 94 years old -- the 3rd oldest franchise in the NFL.

Seneca tells TMZ Sports, "It's a great honor to be the first African American quarterback to start for the Green Bay Packers. All I'm focused on right now is preparing for the Eagles and giving the Packers the best opportunity to win ball games."

It's not like the Pack has had tons of turnover at the QB spot over the years -- Wallace is only the 4th starter since 1993 when Brett Favre (white) took the job from Don Majkowski (white).

Of course, Aaron Rodgers (white) followed him and Matt Flynn (white/burnout) started a couple of games when A.R. got hurt in 2010 & 2011.

Ex-NFL star Braylon Edwards' attack victim has now filed a formal complaint against the Detroit Police Department, claiming its officers blew him off while Edwards was going after him -- and the 911 operator was even less helpful.

According to Ken Bryant's complaint, roughly 4 police officers stood by and did nothing while Edwards chased him down outside a nightclub last month, grabbed him by the ankles, and flipped him onto his face.

As we reported, Edwards went nuclear because Bryant recorded cell phone video of the NFL player shoving someone outside the club ... and then refused to delete it. TMZ Sports posted video of Edwards attacking Bryant, and it's pretty intense.

After the incident, Bryant says he called 911 because Edwards and his goons were refusing to let him leave the premises -- and the operator redirected his call to the Telephone Crime Reporting Unit ... which turned out to be useless.

As a result, Bryant tells TMZ Sports, he didn't get the help he desperately needed. After filing the complaint, Bryant says he was contacted once by the Board of Police Commissioners, but his calls back have gone unreturned.

Unemployed NBA player Royce White has another problem on his hands -- he's been accused of fathering a love child earlier this year and stiffing the mother on child support, TMZ has learned.

We've obtained court docs filed in Cottonwood, Minnesota ... in which Deuane Ning Keomanivanh spells out why she believes the former 1st round NBA Draft pick fathered her son:

-- She claims they banged in Minn. around 8/10/2012
-- She claims she didn't bang any other dude 6 weeks before OR after that date.
-- She gave birth to the kid just about 9 months later.

Now, Ning wants Royce to PAY UP -- which might be difficult, considering he's got no job after recently being dumped by the 76ers AND the Houston Rockets following a string of issues related to his mental health problems.

Ning is asking for unspecified child support and full legal and physical custody of the baby boy. She also wants Royce to have "no parenting time" with the kid.

Translation -- send money, but stay the hell out of our lives.
