The man who allegedly beat Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old son to death was just charged with second degree murder ... TMZ has learned.

Joseph Patterson was charged with second degree murder and 2 counts of first degree manslaughter, as well as aggravated battery of an infant. He was also charged with felony child abuse.

Patterson, who was dating Adrian's baby mama at the time, was supposed to be caring for the child while she was away.

Venus is cutting ties with Jupiter -- TMZ has learned tennis star Venus Williams is giving away her fancy Jupiter, Florida home FOR FREE ... to her mother.

According to official records, Venus deeded her mother, Oracene the 2,804 sq. ft. house in September. The only money exchanged -- $10. Clearly, the house is a gift, and the nominal fee just keeps it legal.

Venus originally purchased the 4-bedroom, 3-bath home for $310,000 back in 2000 ... which has to be the greatest year of her career: she won the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, and an Olympic gold medal.

Total prize money for Wimbledon and the Open that year was more than $1.5 million ... so the house purchase would have been a breeze for Venus.

Lamar Odom's got recovery on his mind -- chowing down on a healthy breakfast in L.A. this morning.

Sources at Crave restaurant in Sherman Oaks tell TMZ, Odom only stopped by for about 20 minutes with another person, but ordered a healthy breakfast of oatmeal, fruit, and coffee.

We're told he ate pretty much everything, which is a good sign ... because if his appetite is returning, it could mean he's finally weaning himself off crack.

As we reported, Lamar's been looking thinner and thinner recently, so a good meal could really benefit him. Especially if he's considering a return to the NBA.

Former NBA star Stephon Marbury has officially gotten his bitter ex-mistress off his back -- and all it cost him was nearly a million dollars in hush money payments ... TMZ has learned.

As we reported, Marbury and Thurayyah Mitchell -- the personal chef he banged in 2006 while he was married -- had a legal agreement she would keep quiet about the affair, if he coughed up $900,000.

Problem is ... Marbury stopped paying around the $600,000 mark. So Mitchell dragged him to court earlier this year, and a judge ordered him to pay off his tab, or face losing his assets.

According to new court docs, Marbury has now paid the full outstanding debt of $341,153 and all's square once and for all.

UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez didn't let a busted face stop him from celebrating his victory last night -- the guy partied hard, bandages and all.

Cain and his crew hit up a club called The Mark in Houston, TX following Cain's epic win over top contender Junior Dos Santos at UFC 166 -- and despite the injuries, Cain kept a smile on his face.

In case you missed it, it was an awesome match. Velasquez eventually won out with a brutal TKO in the 5th round, but not without taking some damage himself.

UFC newbie Andre "Touchy" Fili has a secret weapon for his debut fight tonight -- stained, old green underwear ... and the fighter is pretty confident it'll give him an edge.

Fili knows the underwear might turn some people off ... however Touchy's convinced they'll bring him luck -- since he wore them during his most intense amateur fights.

Sadly, Fili won't actually be wearing the crusty briefs -- they're too long for his new gear ... but Andre says they will hold down the fort in his hotel room during 166.

As for the drizzle stains ... he's had 'em a long time.

The 11-time NBA champ was breezing through security at Sea-Tac International Airport in Seattle Wednesday ... when a screener noticed something funny in his carry-on. Turns out ... Bill was packin' a fully loaded, .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.

Anthony gave each student 2 tickets ... handing out 30 total ... but he didn't forget about the non-Students of the Month. We're told he handed out t-shirts to everyone. And they all had a blast.

Talk about a real winner -- and not just because the Knicks trounced the Wizards 98-89.

Peyton Manning got the shaft from his old team ... despite the story both he and the Indianapolis Colts floated to the world ... this according to former Colts honcho Bill Polian.

Polian is the former Colts prez -- who drafted Peyton Manning #1 back in 1998 -- but the current ESPN analyst went off on the Colts today for the way the team treated Peyton last year.

Polian corrected an ESPN anchor who said Petyon and the Colts had parted amicably, and revealed ... "That's not really what happened. He was cut. He wanted to stay very badly right up until the end."

The Colts and Peyton made it seem like it was a mutual decision when he left the team in March, 2012.

Cops now think wide receiver Demarius Reed -- who played for Eastern Michigan University -- was shot and killed in his apartment during a robbery gone wrong, TMZ has learned.

A rep for the Ypsilanti Police Department tells us, personal items were removed from Reed's apartment -- leading cops to believe that robbery was the motive behind the killing.

Police claim Reed -- who was found dead this morning -- suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

An autopsy is complete but the results won't be available for some time. So far, no suspects have been arrested.

NFL star Adrian Peterson never skimped on child support to the mother of his 2nd child, not once -- despite her claims -- at least according to official documents obtained by TMZ.

As we reported ... Erica Syion filed court docs back in April, accusing AP of stiffing her on more than $50,000 in unpaid child support and other bills (including travel expenses and tuition) related to their 4-year-old son.

She told us, Adrian eventually settled with her in September, paying all his outstanding bills -- but we've obtained official docs showing child support was NEVER in arrears.

According to the papers, Adrian has dutifully paid his child support to Erica ($2,500 a month) since 2009.

Sources close to AP tell us the court order which determined child support ... did NOT require him to pay tuition and travel expenses -- however when Erica raised the issue, Adrian ponied up.

We've also obtained docs showing Adrian asked the court for more visitation time with his son.

Three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti is rolling again -- just in a wheelchair for now -- but it's a start after his horrific crash earlier this month ... and TMZ has photos of his recovery.

Dario was wheeled out of an Indianapolis hospital today after undergoing surgery Monday on his fractured right ankle.

Dario got seriously messed up -- multiple fractures and a concussion -- during an IndyCar race in Houston earlier this month. His car bumped another one, sailed into the air, and smashed into a fence.

Sources close to Dario -- a 4-time Indy series champ -- tell us he's doing well after surgery and focusing on "getting back on the racetrack" next season.

This is L.A. Dodgers star Andre Ethier stealing a page from serial fashion assassin (and TBS sideline reporter) Craig Sager ... and rocking an aggressively ugly plaid suit near the team bus.

It appears the pic was taken outside Dodger Stadium today as Ethier and the team boarded the team bus for their trip to St. Louis for Game 6 of the NLCS.

We're not saying Ethier's outfit is the worst we've ever seen (we're looking at YOU Dwyane Wade) ... but it's definitely up there.

Adrian Peterson baby mama #2 Erica Syion left out one HUGE detail when she said the NFL star has taken good financial care of his kids -- back in April, TMZ has learned, she sued his ass for $52,032 in unpaid child support and other child-related bills.

Erica -- who has a 4-year-old son with Adrian -- went on "TMZ Live" Wednesday, claiming AP dutifully pays his child support on time. But that wasn't the case earlier this year.

We've learned Erica filed court docs, claiming Peterson failed to pay child support for three straight years, and also failed to reimburse her for their son's travel expenses and school tuition -- a bill that totaled $52,032.

There must have been some bad blood after that -- because Erica filed additional docs in July, asking the court to order Peterson not to trash talk her in front of their son, and not to hide their son from her.

But it was all resolved in September -- according to court docs, the two reached a settlement. Erica tells us, Adrian paid all his back child support as well as the other bills.

But there's a catch -- according to the docs, AP plans to stop paying school tuition for their son by next year. Interesting.

All Adrian Peterson does is score touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings -- and make babies. Lots and lots of babies with at least 4 different women.

Based on the latest stats, even if Adrian doesn't get enshrined in the Hall of Fame ... his sperm definitely should.

Our Adrian Peterson baby count was off by two -- at least according to one of the NFL star's baby mamas, who tells us AP has actually fathered SEVEN kids, not five.

TMZ broke the story about baby #5 today, but Erica Syion -- a former dancer who met AP in Houston a few years back -- called in to "TMZ Live" today to correct our math ... and the numbers are pretty shocking.
