Remind us ... what's the penalty for high-sticking?

Tim Tebow was unjustly pressured by the media to back out of his speaking appearance at the controversial First Baptist Church in Dallas ... at least according to the church.

A rep for the church tells TMZ, "We are saddened that Mr. Tebow felt pressure to back out of his long-planned commitment from numerous New York and national sports and news media who grossly misrepresented past comments made by our pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress, specifically related to issues of homosexuality and AIDS, as well as Judaism."

Rev. Jeffress has been quoted as saying, "70 percent of the gay population" has AIDS -- and has described Judaism, Islam and Mormonism as religions from the "pit of hell."

According to the church, Tebow called Dr. Jeffress Wednesday evening to say that for "personal and professional reasons he needed to avoid controversy" ... and would be canceling the appearance which was scheduled for April 28.

The church says Tebow told Rev. Jeffress he'd still like to come speak at First Baptist Dallas sometime in the future -- and adds, "Dr. Jeffress shares a message of hope, not hate."

Tim Tebow has officially yanked himself from a speaking engagement at a church in Dallas ... after reports surfaced that he'd be sharing the pulpit with a preacher who has denounced Jews and gays.

Tebow was slated to speak at the First Baptist Church of Dallas in April ... but moments ago, the NFL star tweeted:

"While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance."

He continued, "I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!"

Tebow made no specific references to the preacher who has made the homophobic and anti-Semitic statements -- Dr. Robert Jeffress -- but it's pretty obvious Tebow realized the negative PR implications of being photographed next to the guy.

7:55 AM PT -- Botha is out. Officials in South Africa have appointed a NEW lead investigator in Oscar Pistorius' case.

The Oscar Pistorius case took a dramatic turn Thursday with shades of the O.J. Simpson case ... with a shocking revelation -- the lead investigator is facing attempted murder charges.

Detective Hilton Botha -- who laid out the prosecution's case earlier in the week -- allegedly shot at a minibus in 2011 and criminal charges were filed but dropped due to a lack of evidence. But then -- 10 days before Reeva Steenkamp was killed -- authorities found new evidence and reinstated the attempted murder charges.

Now the South African prosecutor's association is urging that Botha be booted from the Pistorius case.

Botha -- who is turning out to be the Mark Fuhrman of the case (if you're under 30, Google it) -- did a lousy job under cross-examination by Pistorius' lawyers and that could create problems for the prosecution.

"X Games" star Jackson Strong is calling out ESPN for canceling an upcoming snowmobile freestyle competition -- the incredibly dangerous sport that cost Caleb Moore his life 3 weeks ago in Aspen.

Action sports athletes have been mum since ESPN pulled the plug on the freestyle demo -- scheduled for next month in France -- but Jackson tells TMZ he thinks that's a big mistake ... and not at all what his friend Caleb would want.

Jackson, aka "Jacko," says ... “Personally, I don’t think he would have been impressed if they were to cancel the contest. Anyone in 'X Games' or action sports knows the risk they are taking.”

Caleb died on Jan. 31 from injuries he suffered while attempting to backflip his 450 lb. snowmobile. ESPN says it's continuing to review snowmobile freestyle ... but some critics think it should be eliminated altogether.

21-year-old Jacko had his own 'X Games' brush with death while trying a freakish move called "The Jack" (below at 1:00) -- and admits there are huge risks when stunts go wrong ... but "everybody is pumped when it goes right.”

Lil Wayne says he's NOT SORRY for saying he banged Chris Bosh's wife ... claiming his only regret from his All-Star weekend rant was insulting his "homie" LeBron James.

Weezy called in to WEDR radio in Miami moments ago to address the video footage that surfaced of the rapper's All-Star weekend performance -- when he said, "F**k LeBron. F**k She Wade. F**k Chris Bosh. F**k all y'all."

And the zinger ... "I f**ked Chris Bosh wife."

But Wayne's not sorry for what he said -- telling the radio station, "I don’t apologize for that night. I don’t apologize for being who I am ... I don't take nothing back ... This is who I am."

But the refusal to apologize came with two caveats --

1) Wayne took back what he said about LeBron, saying "I didn't mean to say ['f**k LeBron.'] That's my homie."

2) Wayne apologized to the CITY of Miami for his outburst ... but he specifically did NOT apologize to the Miami Heat.

TMZ published the video ... showing Lil Wayne trashing the Heat and the NBA, claiming the Heat got him banned from all NBA events. During the radio interview, Wayne says the bad blood stemmed from a Heat-Lakers game last week, in which Dwyane Wade cussed him out for rooting for the Lakers. Wayne says things got heated from there ... and now he hates everyone ... except LeBron.

Mike Tyson and his wife are suing financial advisors they claim embezzled more than $300,000 from them ... and ultimately cost them around $5 million.

Tyson filed the suit against SFX Financial Advisory Management Enterprises today in L.A. -- and in the docs, obtained by TMZ, he claims SFX advisor Brian Ourand siphoned off the money from his accounts.

Additionally, the Tysons claim Ourand purposely gave them "deceptive and faulty financial advice."

According to the suit, Ourand has quite the pedigree -- having represented several other superstar athletes like Allen Iverson, Dikembe Mutombo, and Juwan Howard.

Tyson, and his attorney Mark Geragos, claim Ourand's scheme, which they discovered in 2011, has stopped Tyson from digging out of the bankruptcy he filed 10 years ago -- and set him back $5 mil.

For example, in the lawsuit, Tyson claims the embezzlement forced him to mortgage his house to pay bankruptcy lawyers -- and he also had to borrow money to pay the IRS.

In the docs, Tyson says SFX admitted Ourand embezzled the $300k ... returned a portion of the funds -- and then tried to get the Tysons to sign a settlement.

The Tysons turned down that offer ... and are now suing SFX and Ourand for the $5 mil.

Ourand no longer works for SFX, and according to the docs he's living comfortably in Miami and working for another financial advisory firm.

WWE star Jack Swagger was arrested last night in Mississippi, TMZ has learned -- after allegedly driving under the influence ... with pot in his car.

Sources close to the situation tell TMZ, Swagger -- real name Jacob Hager -- was leaving a "Smackdown" taping at Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi when he was pulled over for speeding.

According to law enforcement, the officer who pulled him over determined Swagger was driving under the influence -- and a search revealed Swagger was in possession of marijuana.

We're told Swagger -- a former WWE World Heavyweight champ -- was taken in by local police officers ... and later released on his own recognizance.

He has been charged with DUI (not alcohol), marijuana possession, and speeding -- all misdemeanors.

The Toronto Raptors are trying to make things right with rapper Wale ... after Wale and the team announcer got into serious beef at last night's game ... TMZ has learned.

Wale -- the Grammy-nominated artist behind the 2009 mega-hit "Chillin"-- confronted Raptors announcer Matt Devlin at the game in D.C. last night ... after Devlin made a comment on the air about how Wale is, "Not Drake, that's for sure."

Wale took the comment as an insult -- and tweeted to Devlin, "Watch your mouth." The rapper then approached the broadcasting booth and yelled a few words at Devlin. It's unclear what he said.

But now, a rep for the Raptors tells TMZ ... Matt was NOT trying to diss the rapper, but his comments were "meant to be making fun of himself for not knowing who Wale is, especially a Grammy-nominated artist with more than 2 million Twitter followers."

The rep says, "It’s a shtick that Matt and our analyst do consistently to poke fun at the fact neither is pop culture savvy."

The Raptors say Matt " feels badly that Wale may have felt he was making fun of him."

The team adds, "We have reached out to Wale’s management group to see if we can turn this into a positive. We’d like to have him join Matt on the broadcast when we return to Washington at the end of March."

We reached out to Wale -- so far no word back.

When Oscar Pistorius gunned down girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, she began screaming -- presumably in pain and horror -- and he continued shooting ... this according to a prosecution witness.

As the bail hearing resumed Wednesday, prosecutors revealed a statement from a witness who claims he heard gunshots, went to his balcony and saw the light was on. He then heard a female screaming two or three times ... then more gunshots.

If true ... it's devastating for Pistorius, who claims the room was pitch black when he began firing, never realizing he was shooting at his girlfriend. If the lights were on and he heard Steenkamp's screams but kept on shooting -- it blows his intruder defense sky high.

Prosecutors also say they have a witness who says there was "non-stop talking like fighting" between 2 and 3 AM ... shortly before the shooting. Pistorius claims there was no argument before the killing.

And there's this ... the first officer to arrive at the scene says when he got there, a lawyer and Pistorius' brother were already present.

An officer testified the bullets were "fired down," which contradicts Pistorius' story that he was not wearing his prosthetic legs when he began shooting.

One thing in Pistorius' favor -- the chief investigating officer was grilled like a cheeseburger on cross-examination and he reportedly did not do a very good job.

Mark Cuban learned everything he knows about winning NBA championships from late Lakers owner Jerry Buss -- and he tells TMZ, he'll always remember Jerry for his priceless words of wisdom.

Mark -- who owns the Mavs -- told us, "Jerry Buss was the guy I looked up to in the NBA. When I got into the NBA he was the one guy who told me don't worry about what other people are saying. Just stay true to yourself. Believe in what you're doing and good things will happen."

He added, "The NBA will definitely miss him. I'll miss him."

Lil Wayne's not the only one who's got beef with Dwyane Wade ... the Miami Heat star's also made an enemy of his ex-wife -- who's now accusing the basketball star of depriving their children of life-saving asthma medication.

Siohvaughn Wade just filed docs in their ongoing custody dispute, claiming Dwyane "has never obtained any asthma inhalers or asthma nebulizer machines for the children since [Dwyane] was awarded children in his custody on March 11, 2011."

Siohvaughn says the ex-couple's two kids both suffer from the condition and require constant supervision.

But according to the docs, "[Dwyane] recklessly failed to provide the five and ten-year-old children with any medication for a life-threatening illness."

Siohvaughn says Dwyane is putting their kids' lives in danger as a result -- and now, she wants a court to ORDER him to be more attentive ... as well as keep her apprised of the kids' medical treatment.

But it doesn't end there -- Siohvaughn also claims Dwyane's been screwing her out of parenting time ... "continuously and willfully making every effort to alienate the children from [her]."

She wants Dwyane prosecuted for visitation abuse.

Lil Wayne is a L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-LIAR ... who FALSELY told fans he'd been banned from all NBA events ... this according to a league spokesperson.

NBA Senior Director of Basketball Communications Mark Broussard tells TMZ ... there is "no truth at all" to the claims Weezy made during a performance in Houston over the weekend.

Wayne had told the crowd the NBA had banned him from all events because of his beef with the Miami Heat organization, stemming from an incident last week ... when Wayne says he was kicked out of a Heat game for rooting for the Lakers. The Heat organization said Wayne left voluntarily.

During the rant, Wayne also said he had sex with Chris Bosh's wife.

Oscar Pistorius swore in court today that he believes he was shooting at an intruder when he gunned down girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp ... but prosecutors scoffed, saying he was hell-bent on killing her.

Pistorius' lawyer read his client's sworn affidavit to the judge, explaining that he believed an intruder was in his house on Valentine's Day and he felt vulnerable because he was in bed without his prosthetic legs ... and that's why he pumped a round of bullets into the bathroom door.

The prosecutor saw it differently ... he said Pistorius' motive was simple -- "I want to kill." Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said the Olympian took the time to put his prosthetic legs on, walk 23 feet, and then he began shooting.

Pistorius claims he had no idea he was shooting at Steenkamp until he realized she was not in his bed. He said, "It filled me with horror and fear."

The prosecutors scoffed, saying Pistorius and Steenkamp had just finished a shouting match when he fired 4 shots into the bathroom, hitting Steenkamp 3 times.
