As we previously reported, Vi Ripken survived the abduction after spending 23 hours with an unknown male assailant ... but the identity of the suspect is still unknown.

Moments ago, the MLB legend told "Good Morning America" his mother is so shaken up from the incident, she will not go back to her house in Maryland ... where she has lived for nearly 50 years.

"Her sense of security is violated," Ripken said ... adding, "She's a tough woman, but it's a very traumatic ordeal."

Ripken then addressed the audience -- "Law enforcement needs your help, so by going on TV hopefully somebody will know something about the case or somebody will see the suspect and offer a tip or a clue to the police department."

Montee Ball Cops Investigating Possible Fight BEFORE Campus Attack

Published | Updated

Montee Ball -- and several of his University of Wisconsin football teammates -- may have been involved in a fight several days before the 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist was attacked on campus yesterday ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... cops have received tips about a brawl at a UW football player's home roughly one week before Ball was jumped on campus.

According to our sources, cops have been told Ball was at the home ... and along with some of his teammates, may have participated in beating up a non-football player.

Cops were never called to the scene and no police report was ever filed.

But sources tell us ... investigators are now looking into the possibility that Wednesday's attack on Ball was in retaliation for last week's incident.

We've contacted the University of Wisconsin's athletic department -- so far, no comment.

10:39 AM PT -- Ball denies being involved in a previous fight ... tweeting, "The report that I was involved in a fight is totally false."

Michael Phelps WANTED For New Olympic Gig

Published | Updated

Forget all that retirement talk, Michael Phelps will NOT be done with the Olympics after the London games ... that is if network honchos can lock him into a new job -- sports announcer.

TMZ's learned TV execs are drooling over the chance to get Phelps under contract once he wraps up the Games as the most decorated Olympian of all time.

One source, high up at NBC Sports, told us ... "The man is smoking hot right now" -- and they "would definitely hire Michael" to cover the Olympics in 2016, and other world sporting events between now and then.

Phelps is adamant London will be his swan song -- and he will retire as the most well known Olympian on the planet ... so, if he chooses to get in the broadcast game there will be a massive bidding war.

NBC holds Olympic broadcasting rights through 2020, so they'd seem to be in the driver's seat -- but a source at ABC told us, "If he would, we would gladly scoop him up to work for us."

As for his potential salary ... it's a simple formula:
MP x 19 (possibly 22) Olympic medals = GAZILLIONS.

We reached out to Michael's agent, but haven't heard back yet. Think that guy's busy?

Michael Phelps DUMPS Baltimore Condo At $400,000 Loss

Published | Updated

Michael Phelps didn't just take a beating in the 200m butterfly recently ... he also got his ASS kicked by the real estate market -- letting go of his swank Baltimore condo for $400,000 less than what he bought it for.

Phelps purchased the 4,080 sq. ft. home in Fells Point back in 2007 for $1.69 million -- but then the housing market crashed ... and so did the value of his home.

The 19-medal-winning swimmer listed the 3-bedroom pad earlier this year for $1.42 million -- but even that was asking too much ... because when he finally sold the place last week ... he could only get $1.25 mill.

For the mathematically challenged, that's a loss in value of $440,000 -- but it's just a drop in the bucket ... the guy's agent once predicted Phelps would earn roughly $100 million during his lifetime from endorsements.

Oh yeah, He's also THE GREATEST OLYMPIAN OF ALL TIME!

Skateboard Company Backlash Over Asian Slur T-Shirt

Published | Updated

A major skateboard company is being accused of putting "racism for sale" ... after selling a shirt featuring two Asian men under the words, "Gooks of Hazzard."

The company under fire is Baker Skateboards ... which is owned by skating legend Andrew Reynolds ... who's been featured as a character in several of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater video games.

Baker is currently selling the "Hazzard" shirt on its website. The shirt features two Asian men in a car named the "General Li." One of the men is pro skater Don "The Nuge" Nguyen -- who's sponsored by Baker.

The shirt also features a tagline, "Good Orr Boys" ... a play on the stereotype of an Asian accent.

But while it appears The Nuge approves of the shirt, the Asian American Justice Center feels differently ... a rep for the organization tells us it's "unacceptable for Baker Skateboards to create a depiction of Asian Americans which uses racial slurs and perpetuates racist stereotypes.”

The org. adds, "Baker Skateboards, and the outlets that sell this shirt, should be aware that use of the term 'gook' on their apparel is offensive and quite simply amounts to racism for sale. No one should seek to profit from racism.”

We reached out to Baker Skateboards -- as well as Don “The Nuge” Nguyen -- so far, no word back from either.

Les Moonves NBC's Doing a 'Great Job' Covering the Olympics

Published | Updated

Not everyone hates NBC's controversial coverage of the 2012 Olympics ... in fact, the network just got HIGH PRAISE from its rival ... CBS President Les Moonves.

Les and his wife -- "Big Brother" host Julie Chen -- were on a double date at Madeo in Hollywood with mega-movie producer Brian Grazer and his GF Keli Lee ... an ABC casting executive.

But as the 4some left the restaurant ... Les made it clear, he's a big fan of the way NBC is handling the Summer Games ... despite criticism from fans who are upset the network isn't airing some of the competitions live.

"I like it all ... I think NBC is doing a great job," Moonves said.

We also asked the gang who paid for dinner ... and we got an answer! Check out the clip to see who the big spender was last night.

Kerri Walsh I'm Playing with PINKEYE!!!

Published | Updated

Apparently, someone farted on Kerri Walsh's pillow ... 'cause the U.S. beach volleyball superstar has come down with a case of the pinkeye at the Olympics.

Walsh talked about her eye issue at a media event in London yesterday -- wiping the tears and gunk as she told reporters the conjunctivitis won't stop her from dominating in the sand.

"It's super minor ... it looks worse than it is."

Kerri's pro-volleyball playing hubby Casey Jennings also has the pinkeye ... but, according to Kerri, it's much worse than hers.

"It looks like his eyeballs got their butts kicked."

**Sidenote -- the chances of getting pinkeye from someone farting on your pillow are very low ... it's just an urban legend perpetuated by the movie "Knocked Up."

Still, don't fart on anyone's pillow, it's just mean. **

USA Crushes World Easily Wins Gold in Women's Gymnastics

Not to gloat, but ... THE USA IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET IN WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS!!!!

The U.S. women's gymnastics team didn't just win GOLD in the team competition ... they CRUSHED the competition ... slaughtering Russia by a whole 5 points.

Just to compare, China beat the US back in 2008 by 2ish points ... in what was then considered to be a pretty dominant performance. So, 5 points is HUUUUUGE.

It's a big deal ... the team -- made up of Jordyn Wieber, Gabrielle Douglas, Alexandra Raisman, Kyla Ross, and McKayla Maroney -- was favored to win ... and they didn't disappoint, scoring 183.596 today. Russia came in at 178.5 (suck it).

Romania won bronze.

The last gold medal was won at the Atlanta Games in 1996 -- with the team of Amanda Borden, Amy Chow, Dominique Dawes, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Jaycie Phelps ... and of course ... Olympic hero Kerri Strug.

It's a beautiful day for America. Now excuse us while we set off some fireworks, wrap ourselves in the Declaration of Independence, and drive our Chevy into the sunset.

Ryan Lochte Paul Wall Designed My Diamond Grillz

Published | Updated

Ryan Lochte's unexpected grill flash during his Olympic medal ceremony was courtesy of none other than the grill-master himself ... rapper Paul Wall.

If you recall ... Lochte flashed a ruby and diamond studded American flag grill when he accepted his medal for the men's 400-meter IM event on Saturday ... but the genius behind the bling was "The Peoples Champ" himself.

Wall told XXLmag.com he was psyched to create the mouth piece, saying "Everyone’s talking about it ... it’s just an incredible thing to be part of. There’s not too many world-class swimmers wearing our grill."

The grill was hand crafted by Wall who boasted to the mag, "Every diamond is set by hand ... one by one, prong set and all custom red rubies."

Wall wouldn't specify how much he charged Lochte for the grill ... but says it's worth between $15k and $25k. Wall added "Of course we gave him an Olympic discount."

Worth every penny.
