The Mitchell report strikes again -- The Roger Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine is dropping the star pitcher's tarnished name.

Although Clemens donated $3 million for a pediatric wing, the hospital is changing its name to "Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute", in order to "better reflect its commitment to all sports and athletes."

Clemens still denies using performance-enhancing drugs, and according to hospital reps he "remains committed to working with us to champion youth sports and develop aspiring baseball players."

Plax -- More Guns = More Legal Trouble

Cops found more guns and ammo in Plaxico Burress' house yesterday, according to the NY Post, and it could mean even more legal issues for the Giant.

The popo raided Plax's Jersey house, the paper is reporting, and the NYPD and officials from the Manhattan DA's office went in to find a handgun, a rifle, and ammo for three other guns. Plaxico Slapped for Rear-Ending Woman

Published | Updated

Before he shot himself up in a NYC club, Plaxico Burress allegedly rear-ended a Florida woman's car -- and didn't have insurance.

Plax was sued last week in Broward County by a woman who says she got back and neck injuries after a May 16 car crash involving the Giant's $140,000 Benz. What's worse, she says she's got proof Burress' insurance expired three days before the crash because he hadn't paid the premium.

Alise Smith, the plaintiff, wants $15K for medical bills, lost wages, and damages to her car.

Oh Say Can You See the Hoff?

Published | Updated

The man who claims responsibility for the fall of the Berlin Wall could be the catalyst for the crumbling of ESPN.

Who cares who played in last night's televised Las Vegas Bowl. David Hasselhoff sang the National Anthem, but it wasn't broadcast due to some sort of game delay.

By the way, the score was 31-21. It really doesn't matter who won -- we're just really upset about the whole Hoff thing.

... And the Home of the ... Hoff?

College football officials have hand picked David Hasselhoff to sing the National Anthem at the Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl this Saturday. Wait, is there a Las Vegas in Germany?

Organizers, in an attempt to justify this decision, have pointed out Hasselhoff is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "the most watched television star in the world."

In all fairness to the Hoff, it'll probably be more exciting than actually watching BYU take on U of A.

Vince Young: My Name Was Straight Jacked

Published | Updated

Tennessee Titan Vince Young is doing whatever he can to get his mojo back this year -- he says someone else stole his nickname "In-vince-able" and his initials "VY" two years ago, and he wants 'em back.

Young claims in a Federal lawsuit three dudes from deep in the heart of Texas applied for the trademark for "VY" and "INVINCEABLE" the day after he won the Rose Bowl back in 2006 -- locking up the rights.

Now, young's lawyer tells us, the football star can't get deals with Reebok and video game makers, among others, because the defendants won't give up their claim to "VY" or "INVINCEABLE."

Weird sports trivia fact: According to Vince's attorney, one of the defendants is Enos Cabell, who played third base for the Houston Astros back in the '70s. We're still waiting for some calls back from the people getting sued.

The Dallas Stars say Sean Avery will not be rejoining the team after serving a six-game suspension, saying: "All parties said there is a clear understanding that a return to the Stars is not in the best interest of either the hockey club or Avery."

Avery was originally suspended for his "sloppy seconds" comment about his ex girlfriend, Elisha, that he made to the media during practice.
