Iowa Cleared of Wrongdoing in AshtonGate

Published | Updated

The University of Iowa will not be punished by the NCAA for allowing its recruits to meet Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore ... so says a rep for the school.

U of Iowa Asst. Sports Information Director Steve Roe tells TMZ ... the NCAA has ruled that the school's explanation -- that the meeting was purely a coincidence -- was "sufficient" and no further action will be taken against the school or the recruits.

As we previously reported, the NCAA was looking into alleged wrongdoing by the school after a few high school basketball recruits met Ashton and Demi at an Iowa football game in September ... and then posted the photos on Twitter.

Ryan Sheckler's Truck Shot Up in Police Standoff

Published | Updated

Cops opened fire on a truck owned by pro skateboarder and MTV star Ryan Sheckler last weekend after an intense midnight standoff -- but TMZ has learned Sheckler wasn't behind the wheel.

According to Orange County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a call about a traffic collision late Friday night involving a possible drunk driver -- but when they showed up, we're told, the driver motored it away from the scene.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... officers chased the driver down and cornered him on a dead end street -- the driver panicked, pulled a U-turn, and gunned it in the cops' direction ... at which point, we're told, sheriff's deputies drew their weapons and shot at the truck.

We're told the driver -- who turned out to be an unidentified minor -- wasn't hit ... and gave up immediately after the deputies shot their weapons.

We're told 20-year-old Sheckler -- who owns the truck -- reported the car stolen soon after the incident, claiming he had left the keys in the ignition. Sheriffs are investigating whether the driver has a connection to Ryan.

Calls to Sheckler haven't been returned.

Deion Sanders' Wife -- Don't Pee In My 13 Toilets!

Published | Updated

Deion Sanders' wife Pilar was the #1 problem during the taping of VH1's "Football Wives" -- as in, she refused to let anyone on the production team pee in any of the 13 toilets in her Texas mansion.

Sources connected with production tell us Pilar was incredibly protective of the crappers in her 109 acre, 10 bedroom, 13 bathroom estate in North Texas ... and directed the crew to her pool house.

We're told Pilar was the only "wife" who had bathroom issues -- the other castmates gave the crew an all-access potty pass when they shot scenes in their homes.

Pilar also had issues with her co-stars -- we're told since the show wrapped, she's stopped talking to the other women. But sources close to Pilar say its "completely false."

Sounds like enough drama for a second season ...

Quake 'Predictor': World Series Game 7 Will Rock

Published | Updated

There is a 98% chance a very strong earthquake will rock the World Series when it returns to San Francisco -- and there's an equally good chance the dude predicting that disaster ... is totally wrong.

The guy behind the website quakeprediction.com claims a 5.0 - 5.5 quake will almost certainly hit San Fran this Thursday, November 4 -- the day Game 7 would be played (if necessary) between the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.

Keep in mind, this is the same quack quake "expert" who whipped L.A. into a frenzy earlier this year with predictions of the Big One. Also ... he predicted a 5.0 would hit L.A. yesterday (no shaking to speak of). Also ... the United States Geological Survey calls his site a hoax. You get the picture.

Of course, San Francisco was rocked by a 6.9 earthquake during the 1989 World Series there -- but if you believe the actual experts it's unlikely lightning will strike twice ... not this year.

Ashton in the Middle of Iowa Recruiting Controversy

Published | Updated

Ashton Kutcher is the king of Twitter -- but a picture tweeted by a high school recruit may have gotten his favorite school in a little bit of trouble with the NCAA.

According to a report in the Des Moines Register, the University of Iowa has admitted recruiting violations tied to recruits meeting with Ashton and wife Demi Moore during an Iowa football game last month. The alleged infractions also involve the players meeting with former Iowa basketball players.

The paper says NCAA rules prohibit potential high school recruits from interacting with "individuals considered to represent a university's athletic interests." Kutcher attended the University of Iowa briefly and frequently attends games.

The report doesn't mention the players by name -- but two recruits, Marcus Paige and Josh Oglesby were quoted in published reports as having met Kutcher and Moore. Paige (above, bottom left) tweeted the above photo.

Mark Abbott, a senior associate athletic director, told the paper the school is awaiting the NCAA's response to their internal investigation.

The gloves are off for five-time world champ Vinny Paz -- we're told sets of his autographed boxing mitts are making the rounds among collectors ... but according to him, the signatures are fake.

The boxer's rep tells TMZ, a New Jersey autograph dealer has been mixing the good with the bad -- i.e. selling authentic sports memorabilia alongside counterfeit crap -- and Vinny is one of his victims.

The Pazmanian Devil has since been trying to get the word out -- warning potential collectors of the bootleg swag -- but we're told the damage has already been done. According to his rep, Vinny's lawyer is on the counter attack ... and will be firing off some vicious legal papers any day now.

Calls to the alleged counterfeiter haven't been returned.

Published | Updated

What a difference a year (and 2 new superstars) make ... TMZ has learned courtside seats at tonight's Miami Heat home opener are SELLING for more than $12,000 apiece.

A rep for Stubhub.com confirmed that they SOLD a pair of seats for tonight's game against the Orlando Magic for $12,942 each.

Just for comparison -- Stubhub spokesman Glenn Lehrman tells us ... last season, the most anyone paid for a courtside seat at a Heat home game was $2,250 when the Heat played the Lakers.

Stubhub wouldn't reveal the identity of the person who bought the $12k seats -- but we're guessing it wasn't a Cavs fan.

Junior Seau Domestic Violence Police Report

Junior Seau's girlfriend told cops the former NFL linebacker grabbed her by the arm and shoved her into a wall ... this according to the police report just obtained by TMZ.

The girlfriend told police the force was so violent it caused her to knock over their fish bowl. The fish survived.

One of the cops said he saw a small red abrasion on her right forearm and felt a raised bump on the right side of her head. She also complained of back pain. Cops say the front of her shirt was ripped open.

The woman rejected the cops' offer to get her an emergency protective order.

Seau -- a former San Diego Charger -- had left the scene but called the woman's cell phone while cops were still at the home. Seau spoke with police and denied striking his GF.

Seau returned to the house and was arrested. Cops say they smelled alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot.

As we previously reported, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office declined to file criminal charges against Seau.

Forstmann's rep, Michael Sitrick, tells TMZ that Forstmann will ask the court to strike Agate's claims in their entirety.
