Officials: Chi Chi Robbery Was An Inside Job

Published | Updated

The brazen gun-slinging robbery at golf legend Chi Chi Rodriguez's house wasn't just extremely premeditated, it was an inside job -- this according to investigators.

Authorities in Guayama, Puerto Rico tell TMZ they believe they can prove an employee at Chi Chi's compound slipped the robbers a key to the house before it all went down.

We're told two of the suspects were charged this morning with several crimes -- including robbery, illegal possession of a weapon and burglary. Bail for the men has been set at $350,000 each.

As TMZ reported, 74-year-old Chi Chi and his wife were robbed in their own home at gunpoint last month -- and the thieves made off with over $500,000 in money and belongings.

Obama Kids -- Most Baller Father's Day Gift Ever

Published | Updated

When your father is the Leader of the Free World, there tend to be some pretty cool perks -- like when Sasha and Malia Obama went to the Lakers game last night ... and picked up an AWESOME Father's Day gift for their dad.

Sources close to the situation -- but not too close -- tell us the daughters really wanted to get their dad a Lakers jersey for his special day. So, AEG president Tim Leiweke -- whose suite they happened to be sitting in -- ran down to the Lakers team shop in the Staples Center and had an Obama jersey made up on the spot.

To top things off, Phil Jackson even autographed the gear for the kids after the game.

Way cooler than that ugly tie you were gonna get your dad.

US Soccer Team -- Limits on Leisure

Published | Updated

Members of Team USA won't be spending their off nights in the South African club scene -- TMZ has learned the players aren't allowed to leave their private resort without team permission during their entire World Cup stint.

According to a team official, members of the squad are under strict orders to stay within the confines of their swanky home away from home -- for both safety reasons ... and to make sure they keep their focus on the tournament.

We're told there's plenty of stuff on the premises to keep the men busy -- like ping pong, darts, foosball and video games. They also have a private pool area where they can unwind.

Hopefully, they're enjoying the place -- if things work out, they could be there until July 11.

Earplug Sales Explode at World Cup

Published | Updated

Those damn vuvuzela horns aren't pissing everybody off in South Africa -- TMZ has learned earplug sales have gone through the roof since the World Cup began on Thursday.

TMZ spoke to two major earplug suppliers based in South Africa -- Ear Plugs Online and Sheppard Medical -- and each are boasting ENORMOUS increases in sales since last week.

A rep for EPO tells us their sales are up 121% -- selling more than 10,000 sets of plugs and counting. Sheppard Medical tells us they've moved more than 400,000 sets since kickoff -- a 20% increase.

Both companies attribute the increase to those damn horns -- which people are constantly blaring both in stadiums and on the streets. Reps for both companies tell us neither would be surprised if they each sold over one million sets by the end of the World Cup.

Pete Carroll's USC Move Broken Down by Star WR

Published | Updated

T.J. Houshmandzadeh -- star wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks -- thinks his new head coach Pete Carroll made a smart move by leaving USC in January because it's smart to "get out while the house is burning."

As you may have heard, SC was just hit with a hardcore punishment for some bad stuff that went on with the football program during Carroll's reign.

Carroll has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that his move was "not in any way" related to NCAA sanctions -- but T.J.'s comment seems to imply that his new head coach knew SC was in some serious trouble ... and that's why he jumped ship.

Multiple sources who were inside Club Onyx tell TMZ the fight started when Vince went to take money out at the "cash cage." We're told Vince was complaining about a surcharge to withdraw money -- and that's when the manager got involved.

We're told the manager is from Oklahoma and flashed an upside down "hook 'em horns" hand signal and said "F**k the Longhorns" to Vince -- who, if you don't know, was a National Championship quarterback for the University of Texas Longhorns.

That's when Vince allegedly socked the manager in the face and had to be dragged out of the club, according to sources. Vince's reps haven't gotten back to us yet.

According to KDFW, Vince was issued a Class C assault citation today, which carries up to a $500 fine. The station aired this surveillance video of the incident.

Dennis Rodman: I'm Not As Rich as She Thinks

Published | Updated

Dennis Rodman wants the world to know he never fell behind on child support payments ... that is, the ones he could afford to pay.

Rodman's rep tells TMZ the former NBA star's estranged wife Michelle convinced a judge behind his back to jack up his child support ... and now he's in over his head.

Rodman claims he has been faithfully paying upwards of $10,000 a month since the beginning -- but the court hiked it to $50,000 a month and now he can't afford it.

According to the rep, the former NBA star doesn't earn anywhere near what his wife thinks -- nearly $4.5 million a month (not a mistake -- a month) -- so this whole $300,000 unpaid child support problem is BS.
