Jose Lima Found Dead

Published | Updated

Former MLB pitcher Jose Lima was found dead at home this morning of an apparent heart attack. He was 37.

His wife, Dorca Astacio, told ESPNdeportes.com, "Jose was complaining while sleeping and I just thought he was having a nightmare ... I called the paramedics, but they couldn't help him."

A rep for the L.A. County Coroner tells TMZ the death is now under investigation, but that there are no signs of foul play.

Lima played 13 seasons for five different teams, the highlight being his 21 win season for the Houston Astros back in 1999.

LT -- Consequences of the Masturbation Defense

Published | Updated

If Lawrence Taylor manages to convince a jury that he merely self-pleasured himself in front of a 16-year-old girl -- he could still wind up as a registered sex offender.

Here's the rub -- aside from the statutory rape charge, LT is accused of patronizing an underage prostitute.

If the jury buys LT's expected argument -- that he masturbated in front of the girl but did not have sex with her -- he would qualify as a sex offender ... and could be forced to register as one.

LT's defense team is clearly aware of the situation -- and sources close to the case tell us his lawyers will do "everything possible to keep LT off the sex offender registry."

'B-Ball Wives' Star: Someone Stole My Topless Pics!

Published | Updated

One of the stars of the VH1 show "Basketball Wives" claims she's the victim of a nude-photo-stealing revenge plot -- and she suspects the perp is a woman who's bitter she wasn't picked for the show.

TMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed by Evelyn Lozada (ex-fiancée of former NBA star Antoine Walker) in which she claims Vanessa Davis (former wife of NBA star Ricky Davis) smeared her reputation all over the Internet after Davis was "not selected" to be on the reality show.

According to Lozada, Davis took to a gossip blog and called her a "high end prostitute," a "drunkard," and a "hoe ass" -- and even accused Lozada of neglecting her daughter.

But the nastiest part -- Lozada claims Davis hacked into her email and stole topless photos ... which Davis allegedly sent to TheYBF.com.

Lozada claims Davis is out to "ruin her reputation" -- and now she wants Davis to fork over at least $15,000 in damages for all the trouble Davis has allegedly caused. Attempts to reach Davis have been unsuccessful.

For her part, Davis tells TMZ, "I will counter-sue for defamation as her lawsuit has no merit and I am positive she has no evidence against me for said claims."

NBA Star's Stepdad Tased -- The Shocking Footage

Published | Updated

TMZ has obtained video showing the stepfather of Boston Celtics star Marquis Daniels being tased by cops during Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals in Orlando this week.

According to Orlando police, officers removed 55-year-old Willie L. Buie from the stands after cops responded to a disturbance. But during the encounter, cops say Buie refused to cooperate and instead, began swearing and then swinging his arms at police.

Buie was eventually subdued in the hallway -- where it took three cops to hold him down. Cops say Buie refused to cooperate and wouldn't allow them to put handcuffs on him -- so they applied the taser ... which can clearly be heard on the tape.

Buie was eventually arrested and charged with resisting arrest with violence.

'Macho Man' -- King of the Wedding Ring

Published | Updated

Wrestling legend "Macho Man" Randy Savage recently tied the knot for the second time ... and we're guessing his vows sounded like this:

Priest: "Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

Macho Man: "Ohhhhh yeeeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhh."

After that, we're guessing Macho took the priest out with a cheap shot, hit his Best Man in the face with a folding chair ... and then pinned him just in time for the priest to wake up, realize what's going on and then confusingly start a three count.

Once the three count was established, we're guessing Hulk Hogan suddenly appeared and objected to the marriage ... which started a screaming match between the wrestlers that they decide to settle once-and-for-all at a upcoming pay-per-view special.

All that aside, Macho's new wife's name is Lynn. They seem happy.

Snap into a Slim Jim.

TMZ has learned a federal grand jury has indicted Rasheed Davis (seen left) for allegedly transporting an underage girl across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.

The indictment, filed in federal court in New York, alleges that Davis used "force, threats of force and coercion to compel [the alleged victim] to engage in a commercial sex act with another person for a fee of $300, which was ultimately paid to Davis."

As we previously reported, Lawrence Taylor has been charged with paying the 16-year-old girl $300 -- though the football legend denies he had sex with the girl.

Phoenix Suns Star Witnesses Mother's Arrest

Published | Updated

Phoenix Suns superstar Amar'e Stoudemire had more on his mind than basketball during last night's playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers -- he watched his mother get arrested this weekend.

TMZ has learned the 6'10" NBA star was named in a police report involving an incident with his mother, Carrie Mae Stoudemire, that took place Saturday afternoon.

According to the report, police in Scottsdale, Arizona pulled Carrie over for allegedly driving erratically -- and eventually placed her in handcuffs for refusing to take a field sobriety test. But soon after the stop, another car -- a Bentley -- arrived to the scene.

Two incredibly tall men emerged from the car -- and a responding officer claims he recognized one of them as Amar'e. According to the report, Carrie began kicking the patrol car and yelling for Amar'e to "get a lawyer."

The officer claims he then asked Amar'e and his friend to leave the scene because they were causing Carrie to "act out." According to the report, Amar'e immediately complied with the officer's request.

Carrie -- who has a long history of alcohol abuse -- was eventually booked for speeding, failure to drive in a single lane and operating a vehicle without a court-ordered breathalyzer ignition interlock device.

Arquette Knocked on His Backside While Courtside

David Arquette went down hard at the Los Angeles Lakers game last night -- after he reportedly got in the middle of an altercation between security and a fan that ran onto the court.

According to reports, the fan rushed the hardwood after the Lakers put a serious hurtin' on the Phoenix Suns -- and Arquette attempted to play the part of peacemaker when someone knocked him on his ass.

Michael Roth -- one of the bigwigs at AEG, the company that operates Staples Center -- would only confirm that a fan rushed the court, and that they "approached [the fan] and asked him to leave and when he didn't want to leave, there was some force used."

Apparently, the force was strong with David Arquette.

LeBron's Lawyer: Mom Not Scoring with Teammate

Published | Updated

LeBron James' attorney has fired off a cease and desist email -- finally denying the fast-spreading, and disturbing rumor of a sex scandal involving LeBron's mom and his teammate Delonte West.

TMZ obtained a copy of the email sent to terezowens.com -- the sports blog that first reported on Friday that LeBron's mother Gloria was allegedly sleeping with Delonte. In the email, Frederick Nance -- attorney for LeBron and Gloria -- says the report is "categorically false and per se defamatory." Nance adds, "No thinking person could possibly believe such rubbish."

The report -- which also spread as a viral email -- was supposed to explain the Cleveland Cavaliers' playoff loss to the Boston Celtics with this theory: LeBron finds out about Delonte and his mom before game 4 ... Cavs go on to lose games 4, 5, and 6 (and possibly LeBron).

The guys at terezowens tell us, "We think it's a little fishy that they waited almost 4 days to fire this off." They say they stand by their source, and they're consulting with their lawyers. The story is still up on their site ... for now.

UPDATE: We also spoke to Keith Estabrook -- a spokesman for the James family -- who told us, "I will not dignify this with a comment."
