Report: NBAers Involved in Armed Standoff

Published | Updated

His nickname is Agent Zero, but a new report claims NBA star Gilbert Arenas went 007 on a teammate when he allegedly drew his gun on him during a disagreement over money.

Arenas and backup point guard Javaris Crittenton got into it on Christmas Eve, says the NY Post, to the point where the two pulled out their guns in the team's locker room. A source told the paper the argument involved some sort of gambling debt.

Arenas admitted on Christmas Day that he had been keeping unloaded guns in his locker, which he turned over to the team.

Arenas and Crittenton both play for the Washington Wizards, which used to be known as the Washington Bullets.

Merlin Olsen Suit: Asbestos Caused My Cancer

Published | Updated

Football legend Merlin Olsen is suing NBC Studios, NBC Universal, 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, Sherwin Williams, Lennox Industries and other companies, claiming he developed a rare form of cancer as a result of being negligently exposed to asbestos.

Olsen -- who gained fame as a member of the Los Angeles Rams and went on to be a sportscaster, actor and spokesperson for FTD Florists -- was diagnosed with the rare asbestos cancer mesothelioma a few months ago.

filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Olsen worked after school doing manual labor when he was 10 or 11 and was exposed to asbestos.

Olsen claims he was exposed to asbestos later in life when he was doing drywall. Olsen also worked at NBC and 20th Century FOX and is alleging those companies negligently exposed him to asbestos.

Olsen, who is undergoing chemotherapy, claims in the suit that all of the defendants, "were engaged in the business of manufacturing, fabricating, designing, assembling, distributing, leasing, buying, selling, inspecting, servicing, installing, repairing, marketing, warranting and advertising a certain substance the generic name of which is asbestos."

Olsen says in the lawsuit that mesothelioma "is a vicious, painful, and invariably fatal malignancy" and there is no known cure.

Olsen and his wife Susan are suing for unspecified damages.

Boise State Broncos Take Down 400 lbs of Meat

Published | Updated

The undefeated Boise State football team is hungry for a bowl win -- they're also hungry for meat ... lots and lots of meat. In fact, they had a cow.

TMZ has learned the Broncos had a team dinner at Fogo De Chao last night -- a Brazilian all-you-can-eat steakhouse in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A rep for the restaurant tells us they served 130 members of the team, who, on average, consumed between 3-4 pounds of meat per person, totaling roughly 450 pounds of beef.

The Broncos are set to face undefeated TCU in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 4th, but before the big game, the Horned Frogs will take a shot at Boise's meat-chomping record -- TCU will hit Fogo tomorrow night.

MLB Pitcher Sues His Catcher

Published | Updated

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Chan Ho Park is suing the man who caught his balls -- claiming his former catcher stiffed him on a $460,000 loan.

Park -- who's currently playing for the Philadelphia Phillies -- claims he loaned the cash to former Dodgers catcher Chad Kreuter back in 2005.

In the lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Park says he made the loan because Kreuter "had been a highly compensated Major League Baseball player" and he assured Park that he "would have no difficulty paying [Park] back."

According to the suit, Kreuter signed a promissory note for the debt, but only made one payment for $290,000.

Now Park wants the remaining $170,000 plus interest and fees for the loan -- totaling $226,358.76.

That's hardball.

Mr. World Fitness Sues Over Cereal Tooth Killer

Published | Updated

He's a six-time Mr. World Fitness champion, a jacked-up physical specimen -- but Franco Carlotto claims he wasn't strong enough to take down a bowl of cereal ... that literally broke his face.

It's all part of the greatest lawsuit ever -- Franco is suing Whole Foods, claiming a "defective" brand of "Whole Foods Market Organic Everyday Value Organic High Fiber Cereal" broke his teeth when he chomped down on a "portion of the cereal that had solidified to a hardened mass."

In his suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Franco claims he's furious because Whole Foods gave no warning of the "particular risk of hardening of the cereal" or "solidification of the cereal." Weird, considering most cereals get soggy in milk ... right?!?

Carlotto claims he sought medical treatment for the injury -- he's suing for an unspecified amount.

No word on what kind of milk -- if any -- Carlotto used in his cereal.
