Kevin Smith says traveling by plane for work was hell during the government shutdown ... and it sounds like his flight issues have him supporting Harvey Levin's 'OWTA' campaign.

We got the legendary director at LAX on Monday and our photog asked him what it was like flying during the shutdown ... and he told us he was basically stranded in Atlanta and couldn't get to New Jersey or even Orlando by plane.

Kevin says he feels for air traffic controllers who have been working for several weeks without a paycheck and tells us he totally understands why some of them stopped showing up for work ... even if it meant lengthy delays for some of his own flights.

Flyysoulja of the Island Boys was detained by authorities over the weekend for a mental health evaluation ... TMZ has confirmed.

Soulja -- whose real name is Alex Venegas -- was livestreaming from his Miami-area home early Saturday morning when cops came knocking on his door and eventually carried out the Baker Act detention.

The Baker Act is a mental health law in Florida that allows a law enforcement or mental health professional to recommend a person be temporarily detained for an involuntary examination ... if it's believed that person may be a danger to themselves or others, are unable to care for themselves, or are suffering from mental health concerns with no treatment.

A driver for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency appeared to fall asleep while controlling a train in new video released this week.

The footage, obtained by local station KRON4 News, shows the moment a light-rail train ride nearly derailed Sept. 24 around 8:37 AM.

In the video, the driver's body goes limp as she appears to nod off, with the packed train careening around a dangerous curve.

Mavs governor Patrick Dumont released a statement on the matter ... saying, "This decision reflects our continued commitment to building a championship-caliber organization, one that delivers for our players, our partners, and most importantly, our fans."

Nico Harrison's minutes are numbered in Dallas -- the Mavericks are expected to part ways with the general manager who shipped franchise player Luka Doncic to Los Angeles earlier this year on Tuesday.

The report came from Shams Charania just minutes ago ... who stated the team intends to cut the ties with the former Nike exec at 8 AM PST.

The Mavs are 3-8 so far this season ... but the move was pretty much expected way back in February, when Harrison -- who became the GM in 2021 -- made the head-scratching decision to trade the Slovenian superstar for Anthony Davis.
